Genocied vs. Liberation

I'm curious to know what the total number of dead is that we(the us) have inflicted compared to the number that Saddam killed? At this rate arn't we on the road to killing more than he did...when that happens, what will be the point of all of this? Ole GW will have a hard time explaining that we killed more than that evil dictator because we were helping the people...

I'll start by saying both sides have very hazy numbers attributed to them.


The below article claims that the total number of bodies found in Saddam-blamed graves was around 5,000 as of mid-July 2004. Despite the larger counts in the hundreds of thousands being tossed about by our political leaders.

This second article makes the claim after the above remark that a grave full of hundreds of children was found.

So if thats all that has been found up to this point, there is apparently less than 6,000 Iraqi dead that can be blamed upon Saddam's regime.


As for the death count created by this most recent attack by the United States and the coalition who followed them, www.iraqbodycount.net... reports a minimum statistic of over 14,000 and a maximum average of over 16,000 Iraqis that have died as a result of the war.

Then of course you have the new statistic by John Hopkins University which claims around 100,000 Iraqis have died as a result of the invasion. Which stipulated they could not get any death counts from war torn areas such as Fallujah.


If either statistic is accurate, it would seem that the death count created by the U.S.-led coalition is larger than the physically located bodies in Saddam regime blamed mass graves.

That doesn't mean that in the future more mass graves could be found and create a factual statistic greater than the deaths blamed upon the coalition.
