“We can’t just take comfort in being cynical. We all have a stake in government success, because the government is us and we’re doing things right,” he insisted.

what a liar !!!

Just look at the way he nods his head down slightly and keeps his eyes forward with that oh-so-stern expression

The tell tale sign of a pathological liar.

Most everything this guy ever said has been less than truthful.

Why would he all of a sudden decide it's time to tell the truth

He is getting desperate ---- REAL desperate.

I'm surprised he didn't get all choked up .....

All he's ever "done right" is satisfy TPTB.

As for the rest of us ----- ZERO.

Politically? Communist.

A giant pyramid scheme designed to keep those in power, very very wealthy.

Capitalism is the pyramid scheme.

It is a class based system that requires a majority lower/middle class for it to even function. The very few sit on top with all the wealth.

Obama is a capitalist who listens to his capitalist bosses that tell him and the rest of the government what to do. You have economic definitions quite confused.

Come now, what a load of tripe. He already stated in the past for the "people" not to worry, that the experts know better:

www.cnsnews.com...

I also don't like the arrogance, "The government is us, and we’re doing things right" Whose opinion is that? The industrial military complex? From most public opinion polls, people are increasingly mistrustful of the government, dislike Congress / Senate and feel America is going in the wrong direction.

The emperor has no clothes.

Reminder in this democracy this government belongs to us

Great! Now let's get average Joe with three kids, a wife, and an apartment on the president's cabinet. How about Suzy homemaker with a son fighting in some foreign country that isn't a threat to the U.S. She'll make a great addition to those bright minds.

We've had bright minds in the government for over 200 years and look where it's gotten us. Maybe it's time for coupon cutting minds with kids that will never be able to afford college.

I think Obama sounds like someone who has tried to shake things up a bit but he failed and now is trying to return to listening to his Capitalist masters as he once did. At first, his cabinet was filled with Wall St. That change a little over time but the control grid is simply too large and he is back tracking and giving in to his masters.
Although, I never expected much from Obama from the first. I knew he would be just as bad a G.W. Bush and he has proven that to be very true. The massive spying on US citizens and drone strikes is enough right there to show what he is all about.

The only way, to my mind, that the American people are ever going to take back control of the nation is by way of a mass popular movement; like what we see in Brazil, Turkey and Bulgaria. Everyone is going to have to come together under the cause of taking back control of the nation and places it in the hands of the people. All the never ending infighting among the people is getting nothing done. Stop blaming each other can start directing the blame at the US government. Left/Right does not matter when you have the kind of situation which America is in currently. The people must come together to stop the American Empire once and for all.

I am sure that one day the US will be invaded in order to stop the Empire. At that point all hope for the people to decide the direction of their nation will be lost forever. It is much better if the people do it themselves.

Doing things right, according to who? Nothing like being your own judge and jury and ignoring the public majority.

It appears the "us" doesn't really agree -

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows that 46% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Obama's job performance. Fifty-three percent (53%) disapprove (see trends).

These figures include 21% who Strongly Approve of the way Obama is performing as president and 43% who Strongly Disapprove. This gives him a Presidential Approval Index rating of -22.

That is the president’s lowest Approval Index rating in 11 months.

www.rasmussenreports.com...

Guess he's talking about his other "us"

I feel extreme disgust at this..... "We" like he has a mouse in his pocket. He knows he will never be impeached.. He is on his way out, and if the American Folk go through that nonsense, what do we have to show for it?..... I'll tell you what we would have to show.... Freaking lunatic Joe Biden as President of the United States... Nobody is that stupid..

If you ask me, that was the plan all along, just like it was a "choice" between Romney and Obama in the last election... Do you risk eight years of Heartless Vulture Capitalist influence when you could be done with four more years of dysfunction? Nope... Not if you are in your right mind.

Obama is bad.... This is all wrong, and the world is much worse off with him at the reigns of the United States. But it could have gone worse...

I hate his propaganda, I detest his duplicitous nature... But it is not just his.. Duplicity is the nature of whoever would be "chosen" (and I use that phrase loosely) to run this country......... We are not in control.. It will require the death of a few zealots for the American People to be back in control.

I don't condone it... It is just simple truth...

It is not too late. It will just take more defiance than most are accustomed to. But we are up to the challenge.

I don't blame the contributors of this site for filling me with hatred for the current administration. But it is a huge contributing factor.,.. I just wish that something positive could come of our hatred.

NO Barack, the government is NOT me. Drone strikes, killing of innocent people, gitmo, NSA, TSA, Benghazi, etc etc. You can keep that blood on YOUR hands, it's not on mine.

We are not ONE in this. It's all on you, man.

Gotta just love that don't ya? NOT! Let's model the way we manage our government after Corporate interests now. After all, That's been working so well for citizens & consumers so far right? Does this President even read these speeches or hear what he saying? I almost want to laugh but it's so damn sad that I really need to cry and then get angry afterwards.

Still people believe Obama is a far left socialist?! LoL at this point it is willful ignorance or a set agenda. Obama, a confessed Reagan admirer, is as corporatist as Romney. He is pro capitalist and saturated by corporate influence. He is a fascist. You tear at your face when the kabuki dance of minor social issues is shoved in your face but ignore the bipartisan support for mass surveillance, wars and bank bailouts. You scream for impeachment and do cartwheels for Marco Rubio or whatever the false choice republican flavor of the month is... LMAO as if the system is at the mercy of us peasants' easily swayed will. You are a slave and have NO choice in the REAL decisions that are made within the ONE party of the elite. The sooner you admit this to yourselves, the sooner we can unite and bring about TRUE change. As for ATS, it's too bad the internet sock puppets continue to sell their soul, bark and get paid their ten cents per post while the majority of the population despairs in manufactured division.

Evidently, the tactic of divide and conquer continues to be pushed DAILY on not only this but all major internet forums. It is a fact that states that enforce mass surveillace also create mass propaganda. Food for thought, non-bots.

LOL Obama this, Obama that...

Ah, ATS, it's time for me to take a very long break from you. It's really hard trying to hold an adult conversation when a handful of VERY LOUD five year olds scream and stamp their feet EVERY DAMN DAY IN HERE. The tired, old talking points are just an insult to our intelligence now. Paid or not, the fanatics have turned this place into a complete echo chamber, and that is truly saddening.

Take care guys.

We're maintaining the same status-quo we have been maintaining for the past 100 years - except now that is a much more convoluted task.

Anyone who has problems with Obama had better have problems with the past dozen presidents or they are most likely biased. No president is perfect and they are all more similar than different.

I'm sure he really believes that. It doesn't make it true. I think the Prez really believes all these Socialist plans will work and are working, never mind the chaos before the ends.

I know the question wasn't directed to me but I want to try answering it. The government doesn't want an informed populace, if anything they try to dumb us down everyday with any means. The last thing they want to disclose is the existence of advanced civilizations that have been visiting us since the dawn of time. This information will destroy all boundaries of our society...and all hell will break loose IMO. We are the foundation for these wealthy scums...and when the base of the pyramid is destroyed, the whole thing will come down. Not in their favor.

He's ALWAYS been a stammering stuttering talker !!

Except for a few rare times when he 'acted through' a tele-promptor speech after some heavy duty coaching right before a presentation. His attention span is not all that long.
