The fact that this was an amateur match has quite a big bearing on the outcome.
Many times here in the UK our "sunday league" teams, made up of overweight, middle aged, beer guzzling men, result in broken noses, and full on
fights.
These arent professional sportsmen, they would come from all walks of life.
I dont think this had much to do with football. The fact the referee was carrying a knife suggests he was either concerned for his safety anyway due
to the area he was in, or he had planned to stab someone.
I think people seem to be focusing more on the fact it was at a football game, which seems to detract from the brutality of what happened.
