He knows things, had access to things, knows procedures, protocols, etc.

In a closed nation, he can be kept on a tighter leash. Hell, he can probably backdoor into PRISM and divert info TO his host nation, etc.

These are the same exact reasons, if his boss, that I'd have knocked off.

I dont think he is dead, if that happens i doubt Wikileaks and Assange would hold silence over it.
My bet is he is keepin low profile and doubt he so stupid to use smarphones while hiding... as ex NSA he should know better.

He may not know. For all we know, the face of Snowden we know isn't really Snowden at all. Could be some NSA intern who was masquerading as him the moment it broke, after they killed the real guy. We'd never be the wiser.
