Agreed, but I am having a hard time working out the grand plan behind backing the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt? Is it a case of backing whoever they can or is there a larger scheme in the works?

I love how you make Morsi supporters thugs and the military and Mubarak regime supporters the good guys. I've never seen more stupid comments than the ones on this thread. You do not need to be a Muslim Brotherhood sympathiser to know what's right and wrong. The guy getting shot is God knows who, but the ones in the car are not from the Muslim Brotherhood. They do not own cars that belong to the government, the military has access to those.

Stop trying to paint a wrong picture about the Muslim Brotherhood, It's only your loss. Though it's kinda awkward that 99% of those on this forum are anti-Muslim and racist. Wrong place to try to propagate for truth and justice.

PS: the Muslim Brotherhood are not allies with Obama or his staff, stop making up things that are complete bull.

Do they sound like the good guys to you?

I agree that the goal of the Muslim Brotherhood is to establish a state of Shari'ah in Egypt. What's wrong with that? As far as I know, Shari'ah is more democracy than democracy itself. Has anyone ever read about Shari'ah because they seem to talk a lot of it and most of it is not even true.

The constitution that the Muslim Brotherhood presented was agreed on and accepted by the majority of Egypts people, but others didn't accept it (Mubaraks regime and foreign interests) so they planned a coup. Most of the military leaders are the same leaders that ruled under Mubaraks regime. What makes you think that they've changed?

When the war in Syria is over, hopefully Muslims can get a Shari'ah state that they can go to if they so badly need it. Then we'll see what we'll do with those who're against it, we'll peacefully propagate for Islam. If someone is against it, we welcome peaceful debates and discussions. But if someone transgresses, we defend ourselves.

I'm not pretending to know everything about this video, but the Central Security Service does indeed have humvee's such as the ones in the video and the CSS is/was under control of the internal ministry. I don't see any cause for the military to be shooting protesters? But you never know hey.

Breaking News:
Egypt Troops Fire On Morsi Protesters

CAIRO (AP) -- Egyptian troops opened fire on mostly Islamist protesters marching on a Republican Guard headquarters Friday to demand the restoration of ousted President Mohammed Morsi, killing at least one. The shooting came as tens of thousands of his supporters chanting "down with military rule" rallied around the country.

This thing is a time bomb ready to explode.

Unless you're, for example, a woman. Or a non muslim. Other than that, bang on right. Totally democratic.

Oh and democracy is just 51% of people telling the other 49% what to do. It's not that great a thing to aspire to.

It won't take much more than a spark to turn Egypt into a war zone.
Hoping cooler heads will prevail.

Even the source says " it's not clear where the shot came from " , so why do you claim that the shot came from Muslim brotherhood ?

Well said. It's clear from the sheer number of Egyptians that have come out to protest that they reject sharia being imposed on them.

The shot came from the vehicle window. You can tell from the reaction of the group afterwards that it was clear where the shot came from. Grand theft auto style. Why else did they speed off straight after?

The Muslims won't take this at all. They honestly believe Egypt is theirs.

95% of the population in Egypt is Muslim. How is it not theirs?

It would take a lot less than 95% Christians in the US for them to claim it as theirs. And they do, you know.

The faction supporting Morsi is fanatical Muslim, totalitarian Muslim, dictatorial Muslim. They support him because he was installing Sharia law on a more secular nation and behaving like a Taliban faction.

The protests against him were by a majority of Muslim citizens, but moderate, modern, more liberal and more secular people.

Most of Egypt might be Muslim, but only a minority support Morsi and want to take Egypt back a century.

As for the OP, there's no indication that this video is recent, and there are others stating that this is old footage of a previous killing. I'm inclined to believe this is old.

That doesn't change the risks of course. Things are volatile in Egypt, but then that's the reason the army had to step in to begin with and try to prevent more bloodshed.

There is hope though, because many of those who had supported Morsi in the beginning only did so for stability, and because he was telling the people what they wanted to hear. Since that election he broke all his promises and exposed the MB as another dictatorship. Millions who had voted for him protested against him this time.

The support for the MB has dramatically collapsed in the last year.

Fingers crossed the military can maintain stability for more elections, and prevent any major incidents from happening.

The involvement of the US is going to be a tricky one too. They really cannot afford to see Egypt slide into a civil war like Syria. There's not going to be even a fraction of the hesitation they showed in Syria and would have to intervene.

Well at least its good that you (and others) recognize that there are factions within the brotherhood. Too often in the minds of people who aren't there they are lumped into one evil monolithic killing machine and that's just plain wrong. I'll link an article that more or less breaks the movement down into three factions and shows how they operate and more or less explains their various goals. Y'all can read it or not depending on whether or not you really want to know. Keeping in mind this is only one source, there are many.

www.alzaytouna.net...

Look at Christians, they're not all protestants and they're certainly not all Baptists, and most of those who call themselves such are not overly fond of that "minister" dude down in Florida.

And then there are the republicans, some are neocon war mongers, some are in favor of negotiations and some are actually more liberal than most liberals. Same with democrats, they may be lumped together as being of one mind (socialist) but many are just as warhawkish and interventionist as any neocon.

Nuance.

I think what finally turned so many Egyptians, including some in the MB against Morsi was his blatant buckling under to western pressure to send jihadis (not that that is a proper term anyway) to fight Assad in Syria. That was the final straw that broke any lingering hope I may have once had for him. The ones who backed him to the end were more interested in holding on to their power than with what's good for Egypt.

Now where have we seen that kind of behavior before? Look real close to home.

Well MSM can't exactly tell people the part of Shari'ah law that says usury banking is not allowed in Islam. Even if some journalist went nutso and tried to break that news to the fraudulently indebted people of the western world he'd be canned before the words were out of his mouth. Beheading, stoning ... that's the ticket into the white house press corps. People gobble that ### up.

That's all you've understood about Islam, beheading, stoning and oppression of women? That's like a millionth part of Islam, how come you only think about stoning, beheading or women rights when you think Islam?

Women have the same rights as women in a democracy and much more. When Islam gave women right to speak out 1400 years ago, where was democracy?

Islam is the supreme solution from All-mighty Allah, you may think otherwise, it doesn't really matter. Your opinion won't change Islam and Islam is unchangeable. No one dares to change the laws of Allah. Not a single word has been changed in the Quran since it was revealed 1400 years ago.

Women, non-Muslims have all rights under Islamic rule, the only thing that differs is that they pay a small amount in tax. In return they get defended when attacked, their children, elders and women are respected just as everyone else. You don't want to pay a small fee for that? you obviously don't value human life.

When Muslims ruled Spain for centuries, didn't anyone complain? Find me a greater empire than the one under Islam and find me another religion that's better, and I'll convert.

Yes i agree not 1 word has been changed in the Koran same thing as the Bible but what does not sit well with me are the various interpretations sometimes done by people to promote their own agenda.

Let me guess, in a cave with a club?

Actually democracy did proliferate in the Americas that far back and probably even much further back than that, it was run by the indigenous peoples. And you know what happened to them in the "bringing" of a democratic republic to their lands.

"Islamist gunmen stage multiple attacks on Egyptian forces in Sinai"

www.jpost.com...

Islamist gunmen staged multiple attacks on security forces in Egypt's troubled Sinai Peninsula early on Friday, two days after the army overthrew elected Islamist President Mohamed Morsi, security sources and state television reported.

The security sources said a soldier was killed and two were wounded when a police station in Rafah on the border with the Gaza Strip came under rocket fire. The police post is close to the local headquarters of military intelligence.

Earlier, attackers fired rocket-propelled grenades at army checkpoints guarding El-Arish airport, close to the border with the Gaza Strip and Israel, in the latest of a string of security incidents in the lawless region, the sources said.

Even if it was Hamas, they're in bed with the Muslim Brotherhood.

The indigenous people in America had democracy, do you by any chance mean the ones that got slaughtered by Europeans? If it's a joke I get it.

No not a cave with a club, I don't know where you got that from. There is nothing in Islam that can be described with a cave with a club. God.. did you by any chance read religion in school? or see something about it on TV?

Go grab some books on Islam, written by Muslims, not anti-Muslims. And read the Quran, then come to me and tell me what's wrong with it. I've been reading it for my whole life, I still don't think there is one single error in it. Even scientists agree with me, how come you don't?

PS: this thread is misleading, it's the pro-Morsi protesters that are dying not anti-Morsi. Muslims (if they are Muslims) do not kill, Allah says in the Quran that it's like killing the whole of mankind if you kill an innocent human being.

I couldn't give a sh!t if it's one millionth of one percent of a fraction of a centile of a tiny minority.

It's still there. And condoned.

And I have a problem with it.
