So, how long will it be before the Mandela family finally decide to use a little dignity and follow the doctors advice?

Doctors treating Nelson Mandela said that he was in a "permanent vegetative state" and advised his family to turn off his life support machine, according to court documents dated June 26, obtained by AFP Thursday

www.france24.com...

Sad isn't it, nearly 5 days after?

Kindest respects

even though i have just a few disagreements (i agree with most of what he has said in the past but there's a few problems), I absolutely would not let the doctors disconnect him from life support! i am living proof that just because the person is in what looks to be an impossible to awake from coma that has the appearance of persistent vegetative state, that it is often times not what it looks like!

save mandela!

You are a very lucky person

I really don't know Undo?

You know, after all he is now 94 years old and with the problems that he has had with his lungs his health status has deteriorated somewhat significantly up to the point of no return, he is only being kept alive by artificial means (They say that he is in a vegetative state!)

And to top it all off :

Was there ever a more edifying contrast than between Nelson Mandela and his descendants?

While the 94-year-old icon of humanity lies in the hospital, fighting a recurrent lung condition stemming from his 27 years in apartheid-era prisons, his family is fighting over the bones of his children. Let me repeat that. They’re fighting over the bones of his children.

world.time.com...

This is just sickening that a family can bicker and squabble when a respected and world loved member of their family is lying in intensive care with only breathing apparatus keeping him "alive"

All of this to build a "Mandela theme park" to rake in cash in my opinion!

I just don't know what to think at the moment...some sources say he is on life support; some say he is in a weakened condition but does awake and talk; some say he is dying...and is saying goodbye to his family and friends.

He is 94 years old ..(almost 95 his birthday is July 18, 1918) ...and he may be ready to leave this realm and go into the next one; no matter what his fate is...I wish him well and I thank him for his service to humanity.

94 years of age!!!!!

FFS most of us in britain wont even make it to that age.

Fek him turn it off.

If the shoe was on the other foot, they would more than likely turn mine off,
after all tis a waste of resources.

Are they just trying to delay the probable outcome, buy time so to speak.

I dont like the man, never have.

rodinus,

his advanced years and health condition are indeed a concern, however,
part of how a person ends up like that is not merely damage from a life time of sorrows,
but depression and anxiety. as you age and your faculties begin to fail you, your loved
ones tend to treat you like a child (and sometimes you resemble a child!) but in your mind, that is, inside your thoughts, you feel the insult and can get very depressed. depression, depresses the immune system. a man of power and such vast influence, even moreso.

what he needs, i think, is someone who is willing to care for him who understands this aspect of what it means to age. surely there is someone in his sphere of influence who would be willing to stand up for him and go that extra mile.

here are some ways to help (my opinion to anyone who may be able to help him):

telomerase till he's out of trouble, then followed by astragalus in a tea.
in addition, alpha lipoic acid, resvinatrol and echinacea.
and top it off with Co Q-10 and METHYL B-12. not normal B-12 but METHYL B-12

no fish from the ocean.
no sugar, except fruit sugar
fresh, pure water that hasn't be demineralized
massage and healing oils.
and a nice hearty round of spirit lifting comaraderie

there's a vibrant, knowledgeable man inside that sleeping body.

You have a caring heart and soul Undo... however, i personally do not think that his body can resist any longer.

Guys, I live in SA, listened to the radio the whole day. According to them he is in a critical but stable condition. No talk of a vegetative state at all.

If that were to happen we would already be in mourning.

that's because his body is under nourished and in a state of immune degradation. the telomerase will reverse that and the astragalus will gently nurture him back to health with the rest of the things i mentioned, building up his vital organs. there's no need to think just because someone is 94 that life should just stop. what a waste of a marvellous mind!

p.s. the echinacea is an immune system stimulant. people who have an auto immune disease should NOT take it. also if you are allergic to daises, don't take it. it's from the daisy family

Let the poor man rest.
He has been technically dead for a while now and the doctors recommended _last week_ that he be disconnected.

They can't keep him alive long enough for them to settle their squabbles anyway.

Looking at the last footage of him out and about, he already looked like a weary man whose time had come. Are they keeping him going out of hope, for political ends or because of some nefarious personal reasons? Most of us would have more compassion for the family dog. As for the family bickering at this time, it's beyond the pale. And one of them had the gall to lecture the media about 'respect'.

After Mr. Chavez and now Mr. Mandela..? Another hero of the humanity heading for true freedom.(reminds you all that he was on U.S. terrorist watch list for years till 2008).

For his age and his state of being I am afraid that there is no hope to keep him alive any longer, unplugging him would be the most honourable/respectful way of saying goodbye to an old and brave warrior so, farewell and God speed Mr. Mandela.

My deepest respect to his family members, friends, followers, believers and their decision.

Well, I can tell you that he is in one of the best hospitals in the province. He has about 5 specialist doctors monitoring him 24/7. He's in good hands.

The family fued over the remains of Mandela's children has disgusted the nation. This is now Mandela's grandson who illegally moved the remains to his property on which he had built a Mandela centre or museum of sorts. It is Mandela's wish to be burried next to his children and this Mandla character knew that his grave would attract thousand of visitors.

It's disgusting but dont worry. Charges have already been layed against him for the illegal removal of the bodies. I heard a little while ago that he also lost his High Court bid to keep the remains and that they have been returned to their original graves.

unfortunately, if they don't include things like telomerase and methyl b-12, etc, his advanced years will hamper recovery. antibiotics and vitamins and minerals are lifesavers but sometimes the body needs a bit more help.

I just hope his ex-wife Winnie isn't the one making the decisions. She's rather shady IMHO and there was a lot of talk about her bringing other men into the formula, and she seems to be hanging on his fame, etc etc. I hope someone trustworthy is taking care of the hospital decisions and arrangements afterwards.

ETA .. that could all be wrong ... but that's what was in the papers for a while ...

Shady is not the word... remember this back in the 80s - 90s?... not to forget all the money she is raking in because she had his name and also auto proclaimed herself "The mother of the nation!" :

A tragic confrontation between community leaders in the Johannesburg township of Soweto and Mrs Winnie Mandela is threatening to undermine the standing of the woman long revered in South Africa as "the Mother of the Nation".

century.guardian.co.uk...

On 14 May 1991 Winnie Nomzamo Mandela was sentenced to six years for her 'complicity' in the kidnapping and beating of four youths, one of whom, 14-year-old Stompie Moeketsi Seipei, was later found dead. The actual crime was committed by her 'thuggish' bodyguards, the 'Mandela United Football Club'. Winnie Mandela was released on bail pending an appeal. She would, eventually, only receive a fine for her role in the crime.

africanhistory.about.com...

A historic person (may he have been good or bad in some peoples opinions) smashed to smithereens because of greed for the Green dollar... (sts!)

Undo,

Would it be possibe for you to kindly explain all of these products in a more commoner garden down to earth kind of language please, as i am sure that there are quite a few readers here who do not know what you are talking about when you discuss each molecular pharmaceutical product? (I do, i am a vet but some of us have no scientific or health related knowledge!)

Thanking you sincerely

Kindest respects

This is how it's being reported in SA Rod

The Presidency says that doctors treating former president Nelson Mandela have denied that he is in a vegetative state. The Presidency said in a statement on Thursday evening that it had noted media reports on his condition and that it would like to clarify the situation. Spokesperson Mac Maharaj has confirmed that Madiba remains in a critical, but in a stable condition. Media reports on Mandela's condition were based on court documents submitted during a dispute over the re-burial of his three children.

Source

Seems he is still critical but stable
