Some of you need to lighten up....seriously. I see nothing in this post that speaks hate towards gays so get a grip.

OP I don't understand what you mean by virtual but when it comes to joining a heterosexual parade in real time on a real street i'd be down. I think....no I know many heterosexuals and heterosexual families would happily walk in one.

There is nothing wrong with being gay, if that's who you are than that's who you are. But there is nothing wrong with being straight either. Frankly i'm tired of people acting like there is something wrong with being proud to be straight.

its funny, this thread breaks multiple T&C conditions on this site. Kinda surprised its still up. Wont last much longer, though.

First and foremost, the op's screen name. Second, it is against the rules of this board to recruit members.

The thing is, being hetrosexual is not outlawed anywhere in the world.

Being gay is.

So gay pride marches are a celebration of living in a tolerant and multi-orientated society, without fear of being targeted or victimised by the unwell.

Sounds kinda...
edit on 1-7-2013 by Lysergic because: (no reason given)

no. It's a parade. If we sat around and watched porn then it would be weird.

And an online parade to express your pleasure at being a heterosexual isn't?

A star and a flag for your first thread. Everyone should start out with a star and a flag. Now let's get this dog and pony show on the road. Oh I invited one of my gay friends. I hope nobody minds.

I am very excited and nervous. This is my first thread posted here in the Above Top Secret universe!

congratulations and welcome to ATS

I talked to a few (1) of our gay members and was informed that it would not be offensive if straight people celebrated the fact that we are not gay.

why would it be?

Wear your best heterosexual attire

That's why.

Last I checked, the clothing is, generally, the same. Actually, now that I think about it, my wife is always saying "you should dress more like...." after spending time with any of our gay friends.

And, of course, the kicker:

bring your best normal phrases.

Why would suggesting that gay people don't speak "normal" be offensive to anyone? I've never walked away from a conversation with a gay man, or woman, whether they be friend or client or someone I just happened to talk to and thought "gee, that was some weird phrasing there."

Congratulations again on your first thread. Let's hope they work their way up the hill from here.

I am heterosexual. Since my sexuality is not regularly stigmatised as shameful, inferior or wicked even by the stupidest and most bigoted, I have no need to assert my pride in it. If I were homosexual, I would.

OP, take your 'heterosexual pride' – that is, your homphobia – elsewhere.

edit on 2/7/13 by Astyanax because: it was like that.

Wow just wow. You dropped the homophobe card, much like the race card. Unfreaking believable. If gay people are allowed to dress up and ride floats and flaunt their sexuality, then why can't straight people? Calling the kettle black...

In my personal experience the only people who feel the need to take the time to express to others how heterosexual they are are people who are more than a leeeetle bit in the closet about their sexuality and perhaps really not quite as straight as they like to try and convince themselves.

With all due respect, that sounds like nonsense. The same logic can be applied to those in the gay parade. They;re really not as gay as they like to think.

Sure you can bring your friend.

Wow, I'm mildly surprised that my silly little thread garnered so many replies.

My sincere apology to those that I offended for that was not my intent. This was meant as a light hearted thread not an attack on any group.

realistically the main difference between the gay/straight parades would be about one word on the song they'd sing

We're here...we're queer and we're gonna drink all your beer

and

We're here and we're not queer and we're gonna drink all your beer

This thread adopts the same attitude as my male friend - sick of women's lib, super women, and men being depicted as idiots in sit coms and adverts he is a strong advocate of men's lib. Sometimes I even agree with him - but only after he's made my tea.

wth....so tell your friend he's invited to join the parade and he doesn't have to make any tea on parade day!

Since you've not only invited the flame party, and practically lit the first match yourself, I'll join your parade.

I'm a Heterosexual and proud! No self-loathing or socially imposed guilt here!

Thanx, I think there are 4 or 5 of us now. Won't be much of a parade but that means there will be more beer to go around!
