Yep - that's the real reason for wildfires - pants and hats....and also...

....abortion, a same-sex kiss, and exposed breasts.

-source

It couldn't possibly be that it has anything to do with a heat wave of course....it has to be god's curse of some sort...

Last week on Generations Radio, Colorado pastors Kevin Swanson and Dave Buehner addressed the forest fires hitting their state. They wondered why God was punishing Colorado with the fires, and specifically targeting the heavily conservative city of Colorado Springs.

The two ultimately determined that the forest fires were linked to the state’s liberal abortion laws and the recent success of civil union legislation. Swanson added that a Denver Post photograph of State House Majority Leader Mark Ferrandino kissing his partner also played a role in inviting God’s wrath.

One wonders why god singled out Colorado and not, say New Zealand - which might possibly have been prevented from going down this path with an appropriate display of godly displeasure??

Look at all the other evils New Zealand perpetrates - abortion, prostitution, socialism, gun control, atheism, progressive taxation.

WTF is Colorado so deserving of godly wrath and not New Zealand?????

Pants and hats may be responsible (that makes sense..........) but exposed breasts are good I say.

Am I missing something here, what on earth does Colorado Springs have to do with New Zealand?

At least the Pastors were not confronted by bikini wearing women - but women in hats and pantsuits must have blown their minds.

This medieval attitude is beyond belief. I find it frightening that an attitude we ridiculed in the 1970's has raised its ugly little head in the 2013's. Will we ever be free of mad Godbotherers?

In a Nation of over 1/4 Billion people? Every form of complete idiocy will be represented to some %. Fortunately, these 'Pastors' are about as representative of Christians as that Imam on Saudi who keeps saying Rape is perfectly fine and acceptable for fighter in Syria. Every faith has loons....these make the example, no doubt.

I wonder why they would think that God was offended by women exposing their breasts? I mean, He did make them to start with, and apparently got ticked off when Eve tried to cover them with fig leaves in the Garden of Eden you know.

Keep saying that and it might come true.

Maybe you should go to a few churches and listen to the pastors blow your mind as you realize all that stupid stuff you never thought they said is repeated over and over.

This really does represent the majority.

Well yes...they ARE both on earth!

The question is why Colorado and not somewhere that "obviously" is more evil and pernicious - such as (FOR EXAMPLE) New Zealand.

One can but hope.

Wildfires are not a "punishment". It's natures way of clearing dead brush and trees so new vibrant healthy forests and meadows can emerge.

*bangs head*

Everything is their fault. Except the stuff that is Israel's fault of course.

It's about 50-50.

The anti-religion stuff isn't funny or cute and it stopped being amusing weeks ago. I don't know what's with the sudden all court push with this but recently it's 3-5 threads a day and sometimes more. All running similar lines...all similar thoughts down the thread and all making religion out to be uniformly extreme, violent / obstructionist (depending on who says it) and above all, ignorant beyond all reason.

Now.. I've mentioned this before. *I* am a person of Faith. I don't know where people ever got the idea I wasn't but it sure seems to be the assumption here. I'm Wiccan by choice for 20 years. Christian by birth and protestant by raising with from my Father for the first 19 and under the grumbling of a devout Catholic mother and family on her side.

I have been in a few churches. I've even been at Mass in a Cathedral or two and one Basilica (You ought to stop in and see the one in Denver. It's beautiful
).

These idiots in the story are far from representative of Christianity outside the wild, wacko fringe. A few Televangelists also said GOD did 9/11 as a punishment for wickedness and they were far better known and wealthy from "The Good Word" than these couple of sideshow clowns. They were just as loony and just as silly.

I love it when these ignoramuses make statements like this, because it pushes another hundred people away from their religion. We need less of the religious BS in the world, and they're providing a great service in helping achieve this goal.

Who needs to fight religious insanity when they're constantly shooting themselves in the foot?

I'm forced to disagree - these are definitely loony but it appears to me that they are becoming more and more common and less of the fringe - the "Christian right" in the US appears as various degrees of loony but increasingly mainstream.

as with many movements the extremes force out the moderates - "if you are not with us then you are against us" is not something that GWB invented - it is a common response from many movements and results in increasing polarization.

It mirrors the partisan split in US politics, where there seems no room for middle of the road - if you are a "moderate" Republican or democrat you get labeled a RINO or DINO .
