A great player, a humble man died on the pitch 10 years ago playing the sport he loved.
It doesn't seem like yesterday when I was watching the Confederations Cup semi-final between Cameroon and Colombia and at the 73rd minute this lion of a man with no one near him just fell down and never got up
.
His heart had stopped due to Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy....
His legacy is that footballers are tested now and better medical facilities are right next to the pitch.
He played for my Team Manchester City and scored the last city goal at maine rd, we have retired his number 23 in his honour.



We still hear you roar Marcus.

I was shocked to see this was 10 years ago! Makes me feel old!

It's a shame it took a tragic event like that to make changes in the world of football, to look after players hearts.
