This short poem is dedicated to my ATS friends in OZ. It came to me while watching a documentary on Australia. It really fell into place in my mind
and flowed out as if I were actually there. I hope it is accurate.
The Kookaburra song
is heard in Kakado
above the billabong.
The Kakatoe
sings also
their cacophony.
The crocodile
once idle
now stirs the billabong.
Like waves of heat
the insects rise
and the birds feast.
They sing their
life’s songs
like their ancestors.
The Kookaburra
and the Kakatoe
above the billabong.
Thanks everyone! Sometimes poetry comes from little pieces of input that trigger connections in my mind. In this case it was the ka or ca sound that
caught my attention. Their sound played well off each other. I appreciate your comments and feedback is always welcome. I am sure by now you can tell
I love words, their meaning and their sounds. Peace to all.
