Meat is less likely to make simple folk sick.
But still they don't eat pork for religious reasons although they have refrigerators, like they eat sheep meat because they have refrigerators.

The reality is ... The world is full of people with issues.

Until it affects me, people can choose to eat poo if they like...

Or not...

Early pagans then christians must have started a rumour about the dangers of eating pork.

I mean, can you imagine them around a campfire, eating a porkroast and bacon and laughing at everyone refusing to eat it?

Wouldn't that be the ultimate prank?
Getting entire religions off your favourite chop!

(psssssssst, God says it's a really bad idea to eat prime rib now. He says it's unclean. Pigs are still a no-no, but clams, broccolli, and oliveloaf is okay!
)

Your wrong, can't eat any seafood unless they have scales and finns. I own a couple of scales and I'm Finn so I can eat any kind of sea food

The rules that the bible contained fit the time.

pork was a dangerous meat to eat if not cooked properly.
as another poster said it was often infected. There was a parasite that pigs commonly had which was fatal to humans, dont know if thats the one the previous poster mentioned.

It was basically for health and safety reasons.

like so many things in the bible, it was good for the time, but doesnt fit into a modern scoiety with proper ovens and refidgeration.

Tell me FlyersFan if pork will be banned in the US what do you think will happen?

NOOOOOOO!! That would be an anti-American cataclysmic event! No bacon?
I don't know if America could function. That would be a disaster equivalent to
someone cutting off the supply of coffee to this country.
edit on 6/21/2013 by FlyersFan because: (no reason given)

Oh lately I've heard rumors of dangers of staying around politicians.

How about staying around a plate with porkroast and bacon and laughing of each other when they urge one another to eat....and nobody touch that food.

The reality is ... The world is full of people with issues.
You mean nations with issues, and secret services with issues...
But you cannot have those specified above to eat what you have stated in your text.

So you mean without just bacon and coffee, the arabs would win the war?

Then oil has no value against the two specified above.

Almost all people have choices.

Some choose to not eat pork.

Some choose to eat pork.

I am not seeing the point here.

Beliefs are unique and can be collective.

Someone pointed out earlier health risks created a belief.

Kind of like electric cars.

Same reason the same religions circumcise males - health and safety.

Simple folk, hot climate, little usable water.

Then it became an edict from God to ensure compliance.

Did God ever gaved such an edict?

Well I think that you humans cannot respect the 10 commandments, therefore God cannot give edicts.

I think you have to imagine religious texts as 'how to' guides for living in that day and age.

Simple morality is super easy to write about, but avoiding pork and shellfish is just a smart way to live when such meats spoil quickly.

It's just baffling that people still take these thing literally centuries later. You wouldn't use a medical textbook from the 1700s, for instance.

I was speaking figuratively.

Obviously men gave the edict on God's behalf.

Than this way man is above God,therefore man is living these days figuratively,on God's behalf.

It is because what the pig digests is deemed unclean, thus causing the meat itself to become unclean.
Animals that scavenge for food, or eat meat, are not fit for human consumption (in the mind of certain cultures and religions), they believe that if you eat animals that eat other unclean animals, or eat their own waste (yes, pigs do this) will cause desiese in humans, and also causes their body to become unclean (your body is your temple and should be treated

Well you have never seen free range chickens or what fish eat in the wild.
