Yesterday we saw a 22 degree halo around the sun, took some pictures. Noticed a small dot in the images that showed up in different locations. I put the pictures together in the order taken and it definitely looked like it moved. Researched images that others took of a 22 degree halo and I'm seeing the same spot in a lot of them. I've seen them in pictures from 8 different locations across the globe from 2009 up to yesterday. I took two more pictures of the sun today and see the same spot. Thoughts?

Hi There! Yes I thought that as well but then I started to wonder when I saw it in multiple pictures from different people over the past few years with various devices. That's what made me wonder.

Welcome to ATS.

there are no spots near the sun.

Your photos show lens flares as all cameras pointed towards a light source when shooting will produce unless the camera has some special filters for shooting the sun or points of intense light.
