Ive split my time between the USA and Japan ,since 2000 ,and I lived there steady for three years at one point.
I know a lot of yakuza connected people. It completely permeates most things.
Not all,but most ,and usually in a very silent way .
The media ,police ,government ,and entertainment industry ,are run by the yakuza ,at least to a,degree.
More like they get paid to leave everyone alone.

The huge sumo wrestling scandal in the last two years ,has brought it all glaringly into the light ,and public demand has been to end yakuza rule over business.

The Japanese didn't even admit these atrocities happened to their own people,until the last 10 years or so ,so course its not documented ,and its not something people discuss .
I think foreign writers have occaisionally touched upon it .
I know of one woman who went to Japan ,and went undercover in a hostess bar ,to do her research .
Host and hostess clubs are completely yakuza owned so .....
The head bosses come in from time to time ....they're beyond creepy .

A friend of mine did her college thesis on the topic ,and I know quite a few Japanese bands. If you have a decent record deal ,you are probably owned by a yak ,and may not even know it .
It's more prevalent in certain genres of music ,but its always there somewhere .

We have a slight problem in translation.

There is no implanting of human embryos in animals or transgenic experimentation. The proposed experiment involves implanting a human stem cell (not an embryo). The idea is to grow human organs (for transplants) in host animals.

Of course, those who oppose stem cell research would will be aghast at the thought. No matter how many lives it may save.
