Then I suggest you look up David Icke and his theory regarding earth's moon. You will enjoy it.

Thanks for the tip!

Sorry, gave up reading this thread after page 4, so maybe someone else has posed this.

Why, all of a sudden, is Mars the place to visit, with ideas of one-way journeys, hopping rovers being mentioned in the press, etc etc.

What's there that is so important, that the expense is justified, especially as the moon, so much closer, has still to be thoroughly investigated for what it can provide?

What is on the moon we do not like, yet on Mars we do like?
Hehe.

There must be something up there they're intrigued about.
What say you guys?

They go to Mars because they can do it a lot easier (relatively) than going to Venus or Mercury or Sedna. You spend a billion dollars on a Venus lander and you're lucky to get a few minutes work out of it before it's crushed and melted. Besides, there's still a bit of romance left in the whole notion of going to Mars, with its aliens and naked princesses.

But it's pretty hard to accuse NASA or JPL of hiding anything, since the images everyone uses to "prove" something more important is on Mars comes from NASA and JPL in the first place. They may have a different expert opinion than somebody else about whether something is an "artifact" or a "fossil" (or a "rock"), but it doesn't change the fact that they're still releasing the images so you can see them. They could just as easily hidden them away claiming a camera malfunction.
