This isn’t a Red River rivalry being played out on a football field, rather a handfishing competition being played out in the Red River’s own waters in Lake Texoma. Not only did a Texan take the top prize in the Oklahoma-hosted competition, it was a 19-year-old former cheerleader who became the first woman to win the tournament.
According to HuffPo, Lucy Millsap has been “noodling” since she was 5 years old. She represented her handfishing club, the “Bare Knuckle Babes,” at the 2013 Okie Noodling Tournament held in Pauls Valley, Okla. She latched on to a monster 72-lb catfish with her own hands and brought in the largest catfish in the 14-year history.
That didn’t sit too well with the Oklahoma men, who jeered and teased her. They’re just jealous they were trumped by the first woman to win with the largest catfish in the competition’s history, and she’s a Texan to boot!
Because that is what I can't fish with .

Chicken liver works just fine. Wrap it in old panty hose and then bait your hook. I let them sit out in the sun for a day and then go fishing.

I live in a state where catfish is king, and I can say that you will have much better luck bottom fishing with chicken liver than you ever will noodling.
If it's a matter of survival, I've found that if the fish don't bite......the frogs are plentiful.
Never saw the point in noodling.
ETA: Don't worry about snakes. A couple slaps on the water and the meanest moccasin will run off.edit on 16-6-2013 by sheepslayer247 because: (no reason given)
Negative ghost rider...........Beef Liver is the ultimate catfish bait..... cut it into 1 to 1 1/2 inch squares and apply to hook generously..... beef liver has a lot of grizzle in it and will stay on the hook much much better than chicken liver.....
Why on earth would you want to go through the trouble of putting chicken liver in panty hose just to keep it on the hook when plain ole beef liver will stay on the hook to the point where sometimes it is hard to get off the hook??
I have spent many many night doing battle with the "Whiskered Warriors". You cant beat beef liver for its simple use.edit on 17-6-2013 by RickinVa because: (no reason given)
