Guys, these poems are awesome! I thank you all so much! Very talented people here!

I will leave this going until Saturday if others wish to post theirs, then I must choose one to make the card while I'm off work that night.

I'll share the card with you all when I have the finished product.

My friend showed me the picture of the butterfly on her phone last night... finally. I had to hide my surprise when I saw it because it is exactly like the butterfly I chose at random to post with this thread!

Now what are the odds of that?!

So, since the one in my opening page looks like that one, and it has the fancy swirls and things, I will use it for the front of the card. How convenient!

Maybe her mom helped me to choose the right one when I was looking?

Very well written.

OP, something to remember: our mothers are there for us to lose. It happens to all of us. I still have my mom, and am terrified of ever losing her...but I know one day I will. It is a pain that everyone can relate to, either from experience, or fear of the experience

Yes, I still have my mom too. She is getting up in years, so it makes me cherish each and every day I still have her with me.

Here is the poem I chose. I, actually, took a part of DarkBlade's and a stanza from Scribe's. I took out, or changed a word or two, also. I hope you all don't mind.

You all did great, and are very talented. I appreciate you all taking the time to write your poem. I may use some of them at a later time.

I chose the verses I did because it sounded more like something her mom would say, if she were speaking to her daughter, so I think she would be touched more with these verses.

Again, thanks to everyone for your help. It is truly, and deeply appreciated. I give everyone an A+

Here is the poem, and I will be using the purple butterfly on the opening page for the front of the card:

I come to you in your times of need,
Softly like a butterfly's breeze.
I give you signs so you can see,
I am always with you, when you need.

When a butterfly you happen to see,
Stop for a moment and remember me.
My love will descend as butterfly wings,
I will help you remember all good things.

I am the butterfly that keeps your heart warm.
I am always with you in every storm.
My memory lives on, I will always be,
I send you butterflies so you can see.

Think of me, and I will flutter by,
On the wings of a beautiful butterfly.
So remember and never forget,
When I come to you, my sign is set.

Happy Birthday from beyond the sky,
I will always be your butterfly

I got some help from member, BigFatFurryTexan, from the avatar thread to help me create this beautiful card.
Saying thanks just isn't enough. Wow! I'm soooooooooo happy with the end result! ::

I will be giving the card to my friend after midnight tonight at work. Her birthday is the 18th.

I'll let you all know her reaction.

Well, I left the card in her locker. I wanted to wait and give it to her in person, but we don't have the same break times, and I knew I was working overtime this morning. She got it at 1:30 a.m.

She called me afterwards and started crying (not sad tears). She said that was the most beautiful gift she could have received, and it touched her deeply. She loved the verse, and thought the card and the verse was awesome!
She also said she is going to frame it and hang it on the wall with all her other butterfly items that belonged to her mom.

So... Yeah, she loved it. Thanks guys!
