I have a co-worker/friend who lost her mother last summer unexpectedly. My friend is having a really hard time dealing with her loss because they lived together, and she helped take care of her after she divorced her step-dad.
Now she is all alone and having a hard time coping in the new house they bought together a few years ago.

She told me her mother loved butterflies, and because they never did see any real ones outside of the house, her mother had little do-dads of butterflies sitting around the house.

She said last week she was having a "hard day". She was talking to her mother, asking her to give her a sign that she was still with her.
Later she looked out on her porch and there was a beautiful, vibrant purple butterfly sitting on the arm of the chair. She said it was the most beautiful butterfly she had ever seen.

She went out and stood in front of it and talked to it, and it didn't fly away. She went back in to get her camera to take a picture and told it not to leave.

It was still there when she returned, and she got the picture.

She said that butterfly stayed on her porch ALL day! She took this as her mother's "sign" that she had asked for.

My friend's birthday is coming up next week, and I want to make a card with the butterfly on the front from the picture she took (she is supposed to e-mail it to me), and write a verse that would sound like something her mom would say to her on the inside.

Is anyone here that can help me with the verse? I'm not good at writing things like that.
It needs to be something loving, inspirational, and saying she will always be with her.

Any volunteers?

Thank you in advance.

How does this sound ?

Happiness is like a butterfly

It arrives you when you least expect

Trust your soul for I hold it dear to me and know it to be true

My love for you is eternal and unflinching

Know that like the butterfly I sent , I will be with you always

Like the butterfly now

I may be a picture on your mantle

But I will always be with you my most beloved girl.

It probably isn't right but it's a start to work on

WOW!
You're good! That's great!

I still want to see what everyone else comes up with before I choose one. But that is wonderful! Thanks!

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

Of course you do

I'm sure there are better to come. I'd love to read final version if you don't mind posting it.

My darling daughter -
For always I have loved you.
I will never be far from you my love, for I am there in your smile and in your words.
Through you, a part of me will live on.
I wish you peace and joy for I have always loved you.

]i[

I come to you in your times of need,
Softly like a butterfly's breeze.

I give you signs so you can see,
I am always with you,
when you need.

When days grow dark,
Think of me and smile,
Knowing I am here,
all the while.

I am the butterfly
that keeps your heart warm.
I am always with you in every storm.
My memory lives on,
I will always be,
I send you butterflies so that you can see.

Think of me,
and I will continue to flutter by,
On the wings of a butterfly.
So remember and never forget,
When I come to you,
my sign is set.

Happy Birthday from beyond the sky,
I will always be your butterfly

I think I may use this one to make another one to give her on the anniversary of her mom's death. It is a couple of months away.

Thanks. This is a beautiful poem.

I'm sorry to hear that your friend is having a hard time and it seems to hit especially hard during times of remembered happiness that we yearn to share with those who are not here in body any more.

I wanted to share with you a song my husband wrote years ago, it's a recording done on the fly and set to a video a friend took so the recording is not the greatest but, this ones for your friend on her birthday.

In the sunlight our wings catch wind
In the rain they labor to defend
In the evening they drive to the light,
where the fire draws them to their final flight

Life and beauty are fleeting and so dear
Where days pass by with the speed of the deer
All one touches and sees is so brief
And soon they are gone as if taken by a thief

Within the spark, life remains unchanged
Within each moment, memory is forever unchained
Nothing is lost in the terms of forever
Wake one day and spread your wings again in endeavor

When a butterfly you happen to see,
Stop for a moment and remember me.

But not as I was near the very end.
This pain you feel... I promise it will mend.

My spirit knows no pain in my Heavenly home,
And once more I am free to wander and roam.

Hear these words, my daughter: Believe me,
Nearer to you I always will be.

My love will descend as butterly wings,
And I will help you remember good things.

Speak to me in your darkest hours,
Or when you gaze upon some beautiful flowers.

Remember, there's no need for a single tear,
For I will always walk beside you, my dear.
