Fair or unfair, one must decide for himself if he wants to buy a toy or not.

If I would, I would prefer .. neither PS nor XBox, as both won't play the old games - obsolescence at its best, thank you.

I would prefer a nice new graphics adapter for the PC.

So the costs in various places are, all prices in USD...
USA = $399
Europe = $529
Britain = $542
Australia = $512

Answer: because they can.

There are other costs to consider, production costs,overheads,import duty etc etc.
In the US or Europe there are likely to be more customers because they have a larger population
than say the UK. So prices are cheaper because more money is made.

I think the UK price is pretty decent.

I bought a xbox 360 and a playstation 3 and both are just upstairs in a box, PC gaming is way better so I will not bother getting either this time around..

yeah other costs to consider, but not an extra £80 per unit! I’m using 1.5 exchange rate.

That’s just extortionate imo.

Im not sure why this question is valid...?

There is no centralized price for the whole world... its always different, it has to do with many factors as a business company... like how much are the Europe taxing the Sony compared to US? etc etc

Check our the prices for car, TV, anything else... its always different....

Just saying there is nothing to be surprised or feel unfair-ed about.

Depends I guess. I can lounge back in a chair and enjoy a console game on my big screen. True, I could hook up a PC or laptop to it, but it's all about convenience, and just sticking a game in and playing. I just don't get much time to game as an adult, so I want it to be as hassle free as possible.

I think that Sony and Microsoft are in for a rude awakening though. They just keep further and further making their target audience smaller and smaller with these release prices. I just had a hard time seeing it as a value for a console at $250. For $350 or $450? You can keep it. I'll wait a year, for you to drop it $100, and THEN pick up a used one maybe.... Just not enough bang for the buck there..... $60 for a game? Are you kidding? The only time I've ever paid $50 for a game, is for something tried and true that I know I'll like out of the gate, like a Lego game, or Elder Scrolls, Fable, etc. Otherwise, a little patience, and I'm getting it for like $18 used at Game Stop.
