An iconic Spanish church has been transformed into an imposing - but stunning - vision by experts in light art.

The Sagrada Família, a large Roman Catholic church in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain -one of the country's biggest tourist attractions - was given the makeover by Moment Factory, a Montreal based company which specialises in the production of shows and multimedia installations.
The artists were invited to the city as part of the city's Merce Festival 2012.

I LOVE the Sagrada Familia, and have been there many times. Some of these photos are taken in weird ways, to make it look creepy- I have not seen it that way at all. It is amazing, and I love the way he expresses God and the sacred as being defused throughout nature (rather than separate from it).

Hi and thank you for this great info. If anyone knows a really good place to stay in Barcelona by the way (but not in the expensive range) don't hesitate to post your links or names.
So where can we see photos from Before and After for the Sagrada Familia makeover?

Were there many makeovers in the past?

I remember studying this cathedral at the Uni and it was really fascinating.

I don't mean to sound traditional but to me and this is not a play on words, I am not religious) , any modification to Art is a sacrilege! Has it been modified more than it needed for a "clean up"?

If the case I say stop modifying Art and make your own instead!

There is a youth hostel in Barcelona that is just fantastic. It has a great view of the hills and Tibidabo, the amusement park up on the hills. It's not your run of the mill hostel, I think it used to be a mansion. Very nice and affordable. I don't recall the name of it though. Try to look for one near that area, it was one of the top 4 places I stayed at in Europe backpacking.

Thanks Pavil! It sounds really nice. Often youth hostels have family rooms so I'll look it up, very good tip!
