WWII pilot sees footage of his Spitfire crash for the first time. (A must see for history buffs)

This is a very special video. The pilot, Captain John S Blyth proves that an American did fly a an unarmed Spitfire during the war.

His comments are informative and quite interesting.

After viewing the film, I wondered if he was indeed very brave or brash in undertaking unescorted reconnaissance missions over Germany. Imagine!

The last person to be killed by Long Bow by a member of the British Army was a German Sergeant who had the unfortunate luck to come across Lieutenant Colonel John Malcolm Thorpe Fleming Churchill, DSO & Bar, MC, also known has Mad Jack. This is a man who landed at Salerno with "Scottish broadsword slung around his waist, a longbow and arrows around his neck and his bagpipes under his arm."

Mad Jack was said to be unhappy with the sudden end of the war. He said "If it wasn't for those damn Yanks, we could have kept the war going another 10 years."

In the years after the war he would startle train conductors and passengers by throwing his attaché case out of the train window each day on the ride home from work. He later explained that he was tossing his case into his own back garden so he wouldn’t have to carry it from the station. He was also a passionate surfer.

Mad Jack died at the ripe old age of ninety.

When I had to carry my heavy books from school, I too wished I could just drop them off somewhere closer to home.
