That is some impressive post, I saluted you.

I obviuosly didn't write that, Cicero did.

But the thing is, the writing is on the wall. We are heading for some bad times.

Funny the way some define 'treason' as it is only when the people commit 'treason' against the government, but when the government commits 'treason' against us well that was that 'hope, and change' they were talking about.

They hope we remain silent because they will never change.

I'm just surprised that there are no Obama-fans posting stuff like;

"It's only a modest encroachment"
"We weren't using all that freedom and rights to privacy anyway"
"It's Bush's fault".

Well, I do have to hand it to Obama. At least with him, it's no "BS". He wants to destroy America, he wants to invade our privacy, . . .

"He wants to fundamentally transform America."

And he doesn't care who knows it. He doesn't even PRETEND to give a rats ass about what we think. We're nothing to him, and he's not afraid to let us know that we are nothing to him.

It's like he just said, "Yeah. I took your freedoms, bitch. What you gonna do about it?"

Looks to me like he wants to fundamentally transform the world now and is looking for a new job - like Emperor of Planet Earth.

I'm getting some weird kinda "Dr. Strangelove" vibes about the dude.

Telephone conversations have been electronically scanned and recorded since the 1960s.... Certain phrases or words would be picked up during a conversation and then the lines would be monitored... I have had a feeling that my phone calls have been listened in on for decades.

Jay Carney ought to be up for a big raise for all the fall-out he will be taking.

What a creepy thought that something you said years ago in a private conversation could be used against you. I think the jig is up and if We The People don't have enough rope to hang him by now, we are hanging ourselves.

I had to remind my liberal mother that I was screaming almost as loud when W. signed the Patriot Act, and that was *supposed* to be only for calls going out to, or in from, terrorist nations.

There is no such thing as "modest encroachment". You are either performing a warrantless and unconstitutional search of millions of law abiding Americans, or you are not. There is no grey area in this matter.

It only works for the peons, the bosses speeches as far as 2007 coming from Obama about transparency and no more spying on american citizens do not count, it that was enough prof of foul play he should have been impeached by now.

That's like getting stabbed with a "modest" knife.

It doesn't hurt when you get stabbed with one of those.

It'll actually make you feel "safer".

Unfortunately not surprised.

There are things you just know are going to happen. Like that a porn will be made in the near future titled "50 Shades of Gay" (if it hasn't already been, I wouldn't know) or that a politician will contradict his election campaign quotes / positions on issues.

Our society has become used to and largely expects the worst. We know our food will be cold and probably wrong at the drive through, Comcast will screw up our service and that the service rep will be a moron and sadly that our government will be filled with lying, greedy bastards who serve no interest but their own and the wealthiest holders of power.

As sad as it makes me to think it, maybe the collapse of modern democracies is a necessary transition? Maybe more Americans need to suffer like the 3rd World in order to appreciate what we have and be willing to stand up for a new system. How else are we going to progress into who and what we're truly capable of being?

It sucks but I don't think most Americans, British, etc will lift their asses off the couch even if the rest of the house is on fire....

Understatement Awards.

In 3rd Place.
"I'm just looking for a parking space."
-Hitler, on the 1939 invasion of Poland

In 2nd Place
"Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how did you enjoy the play?"
-Katie Couric, Washington DC, 1865

In 1st Place
"These are just modest encroachments".
-Obama, in reference to the governrment storing and listening to all phone calls, internet traffic domestically, thereby breaking all privacy laws in one fell swoop.

You're saying the government reading people's emails, is worse than an assassination and Hitler's take over of Europe?
You are #ed in the head. People died in those situations! You need help.

This is a very serious issue, and heads should roll.
BUT we knew this already....
Why are they re-releasing this now?

does any one here realise this was set up 7 years ago,
under bush jr?

so hating on obama for spying is assbackwards,
he inherited the program from a republican president passed through a republican house.

the spying IS wrong,
so is blaming the wrong person to score political points.

dont let you hatred for Obama cloud the facts here,
he is only continuing spying started by bush.

You are aware that Barack Obama is over 4 years as the President and into his second term at this point, right?

Who started this is interesting for context but if Obama doesn't own his own programs after he's started his SECOND term, are we simply saying the Government is too big for him to handle? If so, was Bush that better a man than he, to be assumed to have that control and blame for everything Obama doesn't?

What's rather foolish, in my view, is blaming the last guy in any way that even begins to suggest a pass for the current guy..into his FIFTH YEAR of running the very same programs at expanded levels. Bush may well have things to answer for....but over 4 years of down payments means Obama owns this baby, IMO. Obama alone. No one else.

That would be why we're all kinda looking at where the buck stops, because Obama is the top and he is the current Commander and Chief. If control isn't his, then whose is it? There isn't anyone else around to claim it, that's for sure.

I wondered what angle the Obama fans/ apologists would take. So Obama expanding programs that you same people screamed bloody murder about when Bush jr was doing it makes it OK?

This is why we need a real, viable 3rd political party in the country, one reserved for those of us who don't see this as some kind of "team sport" where we ignore the failures of our side even when they are identical to the failures of the other.

What this really should be for people is yet another prime example of the fallacy of our current political party system. It doesn't matter which "team" you vote for, the only agenda they are following is being laid out by people who see you as fools to be manipulated and controlled.

People need to start using what few rights they have left and try to work within the system to effect true reforms. Otherwise our own laziness and apathy will result in the last option to save liberty being violence because when we had a chance to do it peacefully no one could be bothered to do so.

History repeats itself. The reason governments fall to dictatorships and men like Hitler advance their causes are due to one simple fact, most humans will not grow a spine until their back is against the wall (and by then it's most often too late). Cowardice allows a great deal of evil to thrive in this World.
