Exclusive: Leader of Anonymous Steubenville Op on Being Raided by the FBI

www.motherjones.com

In April, the FBI quietly raided the home of the hacker known as KYAnonymous in connection with his role in the Steubenville rape case. Today he spoke out for the first time about the raid, his true identity, and his motivations for pursuing the Steubenville rapists, in an extensive interview with Mother Jones.

If convicted of hacking-related crimes, Lostutter could face up to 10 years behind bars—far more than the one- and two-year sentences doled out to the Steubenville rapists. Defending himself could end up costing a fortune—he's soliciting donations here. Still, he thinks getti

This guy is another hero - of the Bradley Manning verity - just a normal person doing what is right at great risk.

I see that Anonymous is posting NSA documents today.

These people are the new 4th estate - Anonymous and their like are what journalism in it's truist sense is all about.

Come to the aid of a 16-year-old rape victim, and the jackboot comes down hard. At least when it comes to that they are not totally inept.

I must say I'm encouraged by Anonymous' continued actions on the behalf of ordinary people around the world and I applaud their efforts.

Annonymous is a loose confederation/collective of people doing good work in the shadows at great risk just because it's the right thing to do. We can all learn from their example.

This young man, Deric Lostutter, in particular is to me emlulated - his commitment to his ethics is commendable:

He'd read about the Steubenville rape in the New York Times, but didn't get involved until receiving a message on Twitter from Michelle McKee, a friend of an Ohio blogger who'd written about the case. (You can read about her story here.) McKee gave Lostutter the players' tweets and Instagram photos, which he then decided to publicize because, as he put it, "I was always raised to stick up for people who are getting bullied."

As I was looking up ATS references on this story I was disappointed to find that the only spirited discussion of the actual rape case involved the hacking aspects and very little the outrage over the behavior of these athletes, their coachs, their intitutions, and government at all levels.

I've been hearing of these cases all my life. I wonder just how many I, and we, have not been told about. What are athletes (celebrities in general - at all levels) allowed this debauched behavior? Why is this behavior considered part of male-bonding?

Enought, If you can send this guy a few bucks to help him defend himself from the FBI.

Yes, God forbid we interrupt the joking around and clapping one another on the back while continuing to demoralize the victim any further.

You're Welcome.

It's not easy, people laugh and call you crazy.

It is a very very lonely life being a truth seeker. Trust me I know.
