I tried like hell to narrow it down to one.

Trust - Antisocial

Queen - Is this the world we created

Pavarotti/Puccini - Nessum Dorma

Green Day - Time of Your Life (Good Riddance)

Big Country - Inwards

Oh these lyrics, you know. This is why people love Pink Floyd. They speak the truth for so many.

The song is about the discontent of being exploited (by the music industry,) a theme we would see again in Welcome To The Machine with lyrics:

"Oh by the way?/ Which one's Pink?"

(Sorry, I'm a huge Pink Floyd nerd XD)

No worries
It's good to have an eclectic taste. You're really all over the place, though

I like it! Not sure what two of those songs were about. My foreign language skills only work while I'm sleeping. extra DIV

Yes exactly. Welcome to the machine. They wouldn't be allowed to write such lyrics today.

Discontent. Yes. You're right.

What about Julia Dream? I believe it was on the Relics album? Can you pull that one up for me? I LOVE that one too! Such a pretty song.

Fearless too! My girls love that one. We all sing it sometimes.

Julia Dream is indeed a classic. In fact, Relics is an amazing album considering it's pretty much a "B-sides" collection

Also, my personal favorite track from Relics, "Paintbox" could be a very good candidate to describe my persistent mood; summation of my 'spirit'

Last night I had too much to drink
Sitting in a club with so many fools
Playing to rules
Trying to impress but feeling rather empty
I had another drink
Drink, a, drink, a, drink, a, drink

What a way to spend that evening
They all turn up with their friends
Playing the game
But in the scene I should have been
Far away
Away, away, away, away, away
Getting up, I feel as if I'm remembering this scene before
I open the door to an empty room
Then I forget

The telephone rings and someone speaks
She would very much like to go out to a show
So what can I do, I can't think what to say
She sees through anyway
Away, away, away, away, away

Out of the front door I go
Traffic's moving rather slow
Arriving late, there she waits
Looking very angry, as cross as she can be
Be, a, be, a, be, a, be, a, be
Getting up, I feel as if I'm remembering this scene before
I open the door to an empty room

That was awesome!

Relics is definitely one of my favorites, Bike is just a fun weird song. Sometimes I just get that song stuck in my head for no reason at all. I start randomly singing those lyrics and get really odd looks

I've got a mouse I don't know why I call him Gerald, lol !
He's getting rather old, but he's a good mouse

This is turning into my ultimate Pink Floyd thread, isn't it?

Apparently Syd Barret (who developed schizophrenia) saw a mouse in a hotel room once and demanded that room service bring up a platter full or assorted cheeses for the mouse.

(needs to look at my Pink Floyd biographies again.)

Okay, one more and I'll stop derailing your thread, I promise! Here is another one of my favorite old skool Floyd tunes.

Grandchester Meadows

I had to upload this one myself

Strange to hear Pink Floyd mentioned so many times...

My "one" song is an album....

Pink Floyd "Animals"

We are all animals...we just sometimes forget that fact

I AM: I'M ME
WHO ARE YOU TO LOOK DOWN
AT WHAT I BELIEVE?
I'M ON TO YOUR THINKING
AND HOW YOU DECEIVE
WELL, YOU CAN'T ABUSE ME
I WON'T STAND NO MORE
YES, I KNOW THE REASONS
YES, I KNOW THE SCORE

I AM, AND I'LL BE
I WILL, YOU'LL SEE
I AM, AND I'LL BE
I AM: I'M ME

HOW I TRIED TO PLEASE YOU
LIVE THE WAY YOU SAID
DO THE THINGS THAT YOU DO
LIKE THE LIVING DEAD
THEN THE TRUTH IT HIT ME
GOT ME OFF MY KNEES
IT'S MY LIFE I'M LIVING
I'LL LIVE AS I PLEASE

I AM, AND I'LL BE
I WILL, YOU'LL SEE
I AM, AND I'LL BE
I AM: I'M ME

NOW'S THE TIME TO STAND TALL
START YOUR LIFE ANEW
FREEDOM LIES IN YOUR HEART
NOW'S THE TIME FOR YOU

I AM, AND I'LL BE
I WILL, YOU'LL SEE
I AM, AND I'LL BE
I AM: I'M ME
I AM, I'M ME
I AM, I'M ME
CAN'T YOU SEE?, CAN'T YOU SEE?
I'M ME, I'M ME, ME, ME, ME, ME
I AM: I'M ME
I AM: I'M ME
CAN'T YOU SEE?, CAN'T YOU SEE?
I'M ME, I'M ME, I'M ME
I AM: I'M ME
I AM: I'M ME
CAN'T YOU SEE THAT I'M ME
I'M ME, I'M ME, LOOK AT ME
I AM: I'M ME
I AM: I'M ME

My own song actually, it talks about spirit ascension so it really does personify my spirit.

Our shadows fade closer to the light
A secret door buried deep inside
Where angels and devils collide with stars
Time is standing still whenever you are
Come with me and you will see
The next kingdom's edge

soundcloud.com...

Without the darkness
Consuming lifeless
Without the homeless hopeless
Without the faithless

Without the sorrow
of if it ends tomorrow
Without the narrow shallow
Without the feeling of this

Wave that is against us
Without the wall of matter that defines us
See trough the lies that divides us
Like a phoenix rising a lost flame
To break the limits of the game

Our shadows fade closer to the light
A secret door buried deep inside
Where angels and devils collide with stars
Time is standing still whenever you are
Come with me and you will see
The next kingdom's edge

Without the hungry
Feeding the wealthy
Without the need of money
Without the empty

Without our loving
We wouldn't be living
Without forgiving caring
Without love we can not

Build this hope within us
Towards a world that makes the best of us
Versus the rest that don't believe in us
Dreamers of the world unite
Peace is our weapon for this fight

Our shadows fade closer to the light
A secret door buried deep inside
Where angels and devils collide with stars
Time is standing still whenever you are
Come with me and you will see
The next kingdom's edge

It all depends on my mood. I change from day to day, but these two songs always stike a chord with me.

VAN MORRISON: INTO THE MYSTIC
LIONEL RICHIE: EASY

A song that I always come back to, and it has been this way for almost two decades, is Galaxy by Blind Melon. It boils down to being forced to live a life that is not your own. I can't link or embed as I am on my phone.

If anybody wants to it is worth it.

Black Sabbath - Solitude

Only some days, of course...

Songwriters: IOMMI, WARD, BUTLER, OSBORNE

My name it means nothing
My fortune is less
My future is shrouded in dark wilderness
Sunshine is far away, clouds linger on
Everything I possessed - Now they are gone

Oh where can I go to and what can I do?
Nothing can please me only thoughts are of you
You just laughed when I begged you to stay
I've not stopped crying since you went away

The world is a lonely place - you're on your own
Guess I will go home - sit down and moan
Crying and thinking is all that I do
Memories I have remind me of you

I, I will be king
And you, you will be queen
Though nothing will drive them away
We can beat them, just for one day
We can be heroes, just for one day

And you, you can be mean
And I, I'll drink all the time
'Cause we're lovers, and that is a fact
Yes we're lovers, and that is that

Though nothing, will keep us together
We could steal time, just for one day
We can be heroes, for ever and ever
What d'you say?

I, I wish you could swim
Like the dolphins, like dolphins can swim
Though nothing, nothing will keep us together
We can beat them, for ever and ever
Oh we can be heroes, just for one day

I, I won't be king
And you, you won't be queen
Though nothing will drive them away
We can be heroes, just for one day
We can be us, just for one day

I, I can remember (I remember)
Standing, by the wall (by the wall)
And the guns, shot above our heads (over our heads)
And we kissed, as though nothing could fall (nothing could fall)
And the shame, was on the other side
Oh we can beat them, for ever and ever
Then we could be heroes, just for one day

We can be heroes
We can be heroes
We can be heroes
Just for one day
We can be heroes

We're nothing, and nothing will help us
Maybe we're lying, then you better not stay
But we could be safer, just for one day
