I think of Wilson as more of a traitor than a tyrant, but yes I forgot about him in my haste

I'm so proud that I voted for Gary Johnson and long ago saw the New York Times for the war-promoting corrupt little shills they always have been. Being 'right' once in a great while just isn't good enough for 'the paper of record'.

And that is precisely why gary johnson and the libertarian party HAVE BEEN IGNORED for decades. The green party, the constitution party, the justice party, the socialist party, the communist party, HAVE ALL BEEN VIRTUALLY IGNORED by the corporate media.

Corporations cannot afford to give "third parties" reasonable airtime. They give them the bare minimum laughable coverage about 6 months prior to elections and then back to obscurity they go. They are never allowed to debate, they do not get any financial contributions from anyone, many parties are not even on the #ing ballots and you have to write them in manually under "other candidates".

And people wonder what is wrong with our "democracy"

Notice I am not even going to talk about Ron Paul who was rather mainstream and got cheated by the mitt romney campaign with every possible desperate last minute scheme they could muster, and unfortunately they succeeded.

TAT already responded to you but I'm going to respond with links to prove it. Several hours after the blistering editorial was published on the NY Times site, it mysteriously acquired the words "on this issue". One of the poster's here, OneisOne noted it on the 2nd or 3rd page of this thread. Gawker, Fox, and several other news sites all ran articles/reported on the subtle change:

gawker.com...
video.foxnews.com...
dailycaller.com...

NY Times retorted with this explanation: www.newsmax.com...

So yeah, the NY Times changed the editorial after TAT posted it. Absolutely.

Naw, you don't need to copy paste replies, the Obama administration seems to come up with new scandals every week - never lacking in new material. Looking at your usual stance on these matters, appears the Obama supporters are just as easy to manipulate.

Thanks for playing.

My only question is, why did it take this long for the administration to lose credit? Why were people so easily convinced? Why are people so easily convinced by politicians. They lie. End of story.

Awesome. So please explain what that has to do with the news source being LEFT wing? Typical moron democrat reply, was it copied and pasted?

While I in no way condone what has been done in fact I am outraged that the majority of the worlds electronic privacy just went "POOF!" into thin air...
I don't see its fair that the brunt of this is being levelled at one man...Obama.

Let me pose a hypothetical..

Imagine this-
You are one man who enters politics with good intentions to make a lasting change and do right by your country. You spend years of hard work and are nominated for the presidency, you win and after being sworn in you are now privy to the vast amount of classified information and sit meetings with the heads of the most deeply entrenched, powerful and resourceful intelligence organisation in the world a power in their own right. You are shown things, records of past operations, political manipulations, assassinations, black ops...maybe even deep black if that really exists.

You quickly realise that most likely even as head of state there are things that have happened and plans that you will never be told of. You realise in a split second you are dealing with the most dangerous people in the world, that there are unelected people pulling strings behind the scenes and you start to wonder about past events...

Both Kennedys, Martin Luthor King etc...people with beliefs or agendas not in line with or who stood up to the intelligence community...

These people are master manipulators masters of psychological warfare, interrogation the most professional mind f****ers in the world. You think of your wife your children your extended family and friends.

The threat is implicit, unspoken but might as well be a written contract."We own you"

All they would have to do was show you the files...
You are one man they are an army of shadows.
I don't know about you but it would be terrifying beyond words.
It would take a very strong and brave man to stand up to a behemoth like the NSA/CIA.

Like I said hypothetical.

If you had of told me last week that the American government had full permission from microsoft, google, apple, Facebook etc etc.. to unrestricted access to their servers I'd have said you where crazy, paranoid etc.

"It would take a very strong and brave man to stand up to the behemoth NSA/CIA"

Ummm.....yeah. He IS the president of the USA...the leader of the "free world". I'm sorry but you don't get messiah like status and a free pass to be chickensh.t and sell out your country. If you want to be remembered like Lincoln and MLK you gotta be willing to pay the price they paid. In Obama's own words, "you can't have it both ways."
Or am I wrong for wanting a CinC with more of a spine than Benedict Arnold.

Your hypothetical is flawed and holds no water

How is it flawed? Maybe you should check the meaning of hypothetical.
I never said he was a "messiah" and I really don't think he's "the leader of the free world"
thats laughable and a prime example of the hubris of the American psyche and your belief hollywood propaganda.
Leader of the worlds largest killing machine yes.

I was not comparing him to the Kennedys or Martin Luthor King I was stating that they where men that confronted the intelligence monster and the military industrial complex about their actions and just by some strange coincidence they where all killed by "random madmen".
All I was trying to convey is that in the end he is just one man and is only human.
To stand up to an organisation that has been killing people and manipulating governments since the end of WWII an organisation that has been there so long before you where in power and will be so long after your gone...

That would be a true superhero. But as I said he's just one man and they are an invisible army of shadows with the keys to all the doors and now its fact.

If you read some of the other threads about Snowden its starting to look like they may have been spying on Obama as well so what does that say.

I know YOU never called him a messiah. But presidents, while in office, hold messiah like status. None more so than Obama. Do you dispute this? And my belief in the Hollywood propaganda machine? LMAO! Did you notice the quotations in "free world"?
You said it would take a brave man to take on the NSA/CIA. Am I wrong for expecting our "elected" leader to be brave?
Am I wrong for expecting accountants to be good mathematicians?
Am I wrong for expecting pop stars to be good musicians?
Am I wrong for expecting doctors to have a firm grasp of biology, anatomy, and pharmacology?
Obama said before he's the president, the buck stops with him, he'll take the blame.------(this is why your hypothetical is flawed)
Am I wrong for expecting a president to think of the 300,000,000 American families before he thinks of his own?

Let me clarify: I have little doubt that the backroom, scary scenario you presented is the way it is. Presidents come and go. Agencies last hundreds of years. I just don't think it gives the president ANY excuse to cower down and "play ball". I always thought one of the reasons presidents are so beloved and respected is because they accept that they could be assassinated at any time for doing the will of the American people.
Can you think of anyone who gets more respect in our collective psyches than the POTUS? Maybe the pope, I dunno. Don't you think that kind of respect should come with a price? Some accountability, maybe?

THIS is serious for President Obama.
We're not talking about Fox News or Breitbart here...THIS is the editorial board of the NEW YORK TIMES...criticizing the Obama administration over this latest burgeoning administration scandal...the collection of millions of Verizon customers' phone records.

Is the honeymoon truly over for Barack Obama & 'The Old Grey Lady'? Is divorce next?

www.businessinsider.com
(visit the link for the full news article)

so, Obama is the one that collected Verizon phone records, and he is the mastermind behind the NSA...good thing congress or previous presidents didn't have anything to do with it...

you do realize Obama is following the law written by congress through legislation, right?...since you are such an expert on how our government works, what "in reality" could Obama do to change this legally, and in a short amount of time, and would you support him for doing it?

that's what republicans like to do, impeach democratic presidents. I mean what else does congress have to do...we all have jobs now, our incomes are higher, pollution is a thing of the past, our infrastructure has been modernized, and is in great shape, all Americans can now afford healthcare, education, housing..... thank god, we have the republicans in congress to lead us into the future decades, because of all the hard work they have done in these areas.

I would make one change to your premise ~ its an organization that has been killing people and manipulating governments since long before WWII.

Its an international mafia with tentacles in every bowl of corn flakes. Bill Gates holds more power than Obama, Monsanto holds more power, the banking cartel holds more power. A president/prime minister/congress/parliament/whatever is putty in the hands of the real mobsters and governments serve only to protect the mob bosses from us.

You missed the ENTIRE point of the conversation between me and anonbeliever77.
But ok I'll play your game.
What in reality could Obama legally challenge the NSA wiretapping?
Hmmmm..... Well in my reality the fourth amendment would protect me from being spied on for no reason.

BTW I have a degree in nursing science, not political science. I never thought of myself as an expert on how this broken machine pretends to work. But thanks for the compliment : )

the difference between obama and bush

its the media that tell us obamas a failure

for bush...people had to argue the case

would be nice if NYtimes alllowed people to make the choice, instead of them harping on like the right wing.

shame on them for calling the whole administration a failure... overnight.. over one sensitive issue

tut tut

You have to either kidding or suffering severe memory lapses. The media has been protecting this administration like no other up until a few months ago. Bush was attacked from every angle.

What I am trying to say and portray, is the FACT that the same people whom hated Bush, are now the SAME people whom support a President whom has done nothing more than move "forward" the framework of globalism that Bush and Clinton set up???????

move forward!!?

he put the plans in place
they were achievable, realistic plans

now...you tell me who stopped it from moving forward?

i blame the house of reps
and the private industry

both just happen to be mostly republican

democrats seem to think empowering the people is the way forward
republican industry seems to not

Please explain! BTW! Is Lindsey Graham a progressive? Because he and John McCain are the best examples I can give anyone whom believes that there is one bit of difference (other than dividing the American sheep) between the two parties..........

theres a big difference... your preconcieved percptions dont let you see it

look at governance....not industry

bush was a war president...if he was not...you would have seen it clearly

edit on 6-6-2013 by thePharaoh because: (no reason given)

Empower the people? Huge tax increases, continuing and expanding global war, attacking the BOR at every opening, Expanding the welfare class.... I think you and I have a completely different idea of empowerment
