Can't you physically prevent people from "Excessive Quoting"?

I am aware that people are sometimes penalized for "Excessive Quoting" while they may not be totally aware of every board policy. Wouldn't it be a better idea to eliminate the possibility of this issue via coding rather than deal with it manually?

The quote feature is just standard BB code.

To limit it's content, we'd have to drop the overall available character limit for each post.

It's quite rare actually that people over quote to the point of needing to have it removed. Just alert the ones you see.
