I'm in a bluesy mood today. Not in an emo way, but a soulful, sultry kinda way. I discovered the blues as a teenager and it was the anthem of my angst and frustration.

Although I mostly know my blues songs through gateway rock bands like The Doors and Led Zeppelin, I would really like to dive deep into the mood of the music. I will list a few of my favorite tunes, but would like you to introduce me to some more great blues music, both traditional and non-traditional. Any directions or leads you can give me on the greats of the genre would be appreciated.

Hard Time Killin' Floor Blues

Cars Hiss By My Window

Driftin' Blues

If I Ever Get Lucky/ Milk Cow's Calf Blues/ Crawlin' King Snake/ That's Alright Mama (Robert Plant)

Already in the post you have Muddy Waters and Robert Johnson, two of the best, so that narrows it down.

Charley Patton, Skip James, Leadbelly and Blind Blake are all worth a look. Oh and don't miss the pre-cursor to all those modern two dime horror shows like 'Glee'. Watch something good instead, The Blues Brothers..
