I just had pneumonia and my family doctor did a DNA swab to determine if the drugs he gave me were effective. Anybody else know anything about this? The swab wasn;'t to determine if I was still sick or to determine what had caused the illness. The swab was to help determine what drugs to use in the future.

Sound to me like you have a smart doctor. Ny wife just went into hospital and they
always seem to have a hard time figuring out which one of her maladies is causing her
distress.

I'm planning on researching this a little and inquiring with her doctor about it.

I think he plans to clone you.

Joking aside, sounds like a really on the ball doc to me!

ETA: No, I've never heard of it by the way.

Thanks for looking into it. I am not sure how a DNA swab could tell what kinds of medication would be best for me. It is an interesting idea.

Ha Ha Ha!
Perhaps it is just a quick money maker for the doc.
I haven't heard any results yet.

Doesn't anybody know anything about medical DNA swabs?

it seems probable to me that he can take an accounting of the infectious microorganisms reaction, if the meds are targeting the cell-cycle of the bug.

it is also possible that the swab was for antibodies. did he tell you that it was for DNA testing?

are you sure its phenomena? maybe he thinks its something else.

He said it was a DNA test to determine what kind of meds work best for me.
The hospital said pneumonia but he wasn't sure what I had.
