Its about freedom over socialism and fascism.

Funny. That is exactly what our government has turning into... A 2 party fascist corprate dictatorship. Although it is arguable now if it is even really 2 party anymore. I don't understand why more people don't get it... I don't understand why America isn't outraged.

It should be about freedom, but that is just something being crammed down our throats by the media. It's actually about relgious fundamentalists that are greedy and rich.

[sarcasm /on]Doesn't matter though, because America is the greatest!![sarcasm /off]

Look, I know what you're saying, and everyone can blame everyone else for their own problems, but when it comes down to it, pointing fingers will do nothing.

And justice will served.

But that is because Americans have no TIME to question things like these.
Americans work more hours on average daily than ANY industrailized nation.
We also get the LEAST amount of paid vacations, and days off.
Thats nothing but a MYTH that "all americans are fat lazy capitalist pigs".
MOST Americans work so hard they get stress related illnesses. From lack of time off and relaxation. Period.

That is a bunch of crap. I'm a busy American and I work very long, hard hours for my money. Somehow I still have time to question things like these.

The real reason is many people DON'T CARE. If it is out of sight it is out of mind. Besides, all sins are forgiven right? Right... Whatever.

Finger pointing? I myself am responsible directly and indirectly for some of this. We all are collectively. If everyone took responisbily for everything they did we, as a society, would not have the problems we have. Being responsible includes making smart decisions and I believe war and conflict would disappear all together.

I just don't get why humans are so irresponsible and destructive. No other creature on our planet is anything like us... Our species will not survive if we cannot figure this stuff out, be smart, and take respnosiblity. And it all starts with each and every one of us as individuals.

fine they dont care. but dont call them lazy and fat. when they work more hours with less vacations and days off then ANY industrialized country. That was my main point.

You're dreaming. It will never happen. Ignorance is bliss, and this country is woefully blissfull, with no intentions of changing.

That's why, when the world stage changes, and America is no longer on top, it will be a step ahead for humanity.

Yes America has been so bad for the world.

You know we gave the world for FREE such things as Penicillin, and electric power, and communications, and even these damn computers.

But people like you are truly hate filled. You just cant stand the fact that America really is a good and free place, unlike the rest of the absolutely corrupted, rotting world.

There's that arrogance again...

Uh... I didn't call "them" lazy and fat. Working if part life but overworking is not. Again, this all goes back to personal responsibility... If you don't want to work so much look for something else to do... Ofcourse I know this can be more difficult for some but you must admit America is a country of excess... Do we all really need to have a $40k SUV or a 50" flat panel TV? No. So you really work as much as you want.

I could make more with my work somewhere else... But I make by just fine and I live in a place I love very much... No amount of money could sell me out to living and being happy...

This is now completely missing the point of this article. Not that the post has really been on track very much anyway. None the less it is interesting.

Well, since I was born and live in the USA, isnt it just a little bit logical that I would stand up for my country?

I dont call that arrogance, I call it reality.

Actually if you're talking science/technology the Germans developed a huge amount of it. America just stole the scientists and engineers after WWII...

Saying America is not important in the world is pinheaded... America is the world's expiremental country. People from around the world make America what it is today...

Thinking this country is free, noncorupt, and "morally correct" is dangerous. Freedom is at risk and the largest threat is our current government. The combination of economics and warfare (aka the Military Industrial Complex) that took hold in this country following World War II has lead to many of the conflicts we face today. America is fighting it's own monster(s).

I have little respect for the architects of the corrupt government we have today. It is not what the founders of this country had intended... It is what we were fighting when America became a nation.

I completely agree with tacitblue.

The part where he may not agree with me is, when I say, that the people of this country, either ignorantly support what is happening, or just don't care as long as they can eat their sandwiches, watch their sports, and pump out babies like rabbits, even if they don't have enough money for their first eight kids.

My family is doing just fine, and I'm doing fine, too. But that's not the point. I care about more than just myself.

The selfishness of this country, and the mindset of we are better than everyone else is what will be this nation's downfall, and I don't see it changing anytime soon...matter of fact, it's going in the opposite direction of where it should be going.

Instead of mindful introspection, we seek gluttonous satisfaction.

So, back to my original statement: America will get what it deserves.

And I don't care if I'm here or there when it happens. But I'll be glad to see it.

I agree with most of that. Of course America isnt perfect.
But I'll ask you a question.
Would you rather put money in an American bank or a foreign bank?
Which is more trustworthy?

Would you rather invest in am American company or a foreign company?
At least our country, the USA has developed standards, that the whole world is now adopting.

Foreign bank. The Euro has a much better value than our dollar at the moment. It is also mostly backed by gold rather than investments. Additionally, with the re-election of Bush, our economy is going to keep doing more of the same... The value of our dollar will continue to fall as we spend more and more money on war. Add in the fact that a majority of other nations do not agree with the US being in Iraq trade will be damaged. Bush has done very little for the US economy and I see his election as very damaging to it in the future... So yeah, a foreign bank in a different currancy.

Nicely said cstyle226... I think we are on the same page. I wish more people could see the big picture. It is perplexing to me why they don't. Anyway, this has been fun but I'm damn tired.

Good night everyone!

Though Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin, in 1928 it took Australian Howard Florey and German Ernst Chain to make it a usable product. Though both Fleming and Florey were knighted in 1944 and all three of them (Fleming, Florey and Chain) were awarded the 1945 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, Fleming is still credited for discovering penicillin

Nicely said? He said he'll be glad when America is attacked and people die.

Well I say I hope Turkey gets infected with a new disease and they have to BEG American scientists for help. And then I say I hope we just let them squirm.

Why is the rest of the world so UNGRATEFUL?
You never hear talk like" I hope America gets attacked" after an EARTHQUAKE in Turkey and AMERICA sends millions of dollars in aid and rescue people.

man screw this. you guys are whack.

And they were paid development costs with US FEDERAL grants.
And Fleming discovered it. My point stands.

The US then GAVE the "recipe" for penecillin to the rest of the world for FREE.
Because we are such fat, lazy, monsters.

Rich... Do some research on your own... And the nightly news doesn't count. You clearly do not see the big picture here.

I take pride in my country, my flag, and freedom. This is the greatest country in the world. But we have a bunch of selfish pigs running our government at the moment and all they care about is money. They don't care about you or I. I can still be an American and hate the decisions of the government can't I? It is a very "American" thing to do.

Every freedom loving person understands what it means to be "American."

I didn't say America should be attacked!!

All I said was "America will get what it deserves."

You took that as me wanting America to be attacked...

So the basic logic here is that you believe what America deserves is to be attacked?

I think that's right...

One more time now..

I say "America will get what it deserves."
You say, "He wants America to be attacked."

So...
You think America deserves to be attacked.

I do research and I agree with you. I dont even watch TV anymore.
All my news comes from the wire services.

But I'm sorry if I get a little irate when some *censored* starts talking about "he hopes America gets attacked and people die."

That aint right is it?

As for our leadership. How does that equate to the rest of the population??
I think Bush and Kerry both represent the average American about as much as Donald Trump does.
