The question remains the same, but the answers change almost every day. With all the possible end of the world scenarios, the threat of something actually occurring simply cannot be debated.

In your opinion for today, do you feel it more likely we get pulverized by an asteroid, a pandemic, biological warfare, nuclear war, a CERN black hole or accident, alien invasion, zombies, volcanoes creating a decades long winter, an EMP attack, a CME, the Return of Christ, Obama withdrawing the Affordable Care Act resulting in billions of heart attacks and strokes, or something else?

Personally, I worry more about biological/chemical annihilation (think chemtrails or some faction or individual getting their hands on a large amount of pathogenic supplies).

Simply put, what is most likely to keep you up at night as of this moment? Brief or extensive comments could be very interesting. Thanks.

I try to structure my fears based on the most likely events, so a lot of that stuff doesn't register to me. I'm thinking increased extreme weather events eventually leading to long term destabilization of commodity markets, leading to collapse of all markets, leading to mass economic difficulties, leading to destabilization of the country, leading to Count Dracula taking charge to "save" us all from chaos.

I would say pain and sickness; crazy people with no regard for others and themselves; the destruction of Earth by uncaring people; etc. A lot worries me because I feel we need to have more responsible lives were I believe we can stop needless suffering.

1. My very real life personal problems.

2. The environment. The human race is destroying the earth and we'll all be whithering in drought. Soon. Like, 3 summers ago. My lilies buned up last year and didn't come back. That bothers me.

3. Tornados, and hurricanes.

4 The US descending into chaos as a result of economic ruin.

5 The US descending into chaos as a result polarized politics.

6 The entire middle east. Sometimes I wish all of them would just nuke themselves and be done with it.

7 CERN ripping a hole in the universe before we can build a giant spaceship and go distroy another one.

8 The sun imploding and becoming a black hole before we get a chance to build a giant spaceship and go destroy another planet that can support life.

9 The earth losing it's gravitational pull on the moon plunging us into ecological disaster before we get a chance to build a giant spaceship and go destroy another planet that can support life.

That's nothing.

I went to Kalbarri once. Drank them out of beer.

Literally. One bottle shop in the entire town and I emptied it of stout.

We were forced to drink those fruity pink things for the rest of the week.

It was terrible, they taste horrible and when the smart bugger with the camera sees you, it's all over. "smile for the camera, sweety!!"

Other than that, I fear very little. No point being concerned about inevitability.

I guess if I had to worry it would be about people who think breaking into my house is a good idea. I don't want to go to prison.

That the "dream people" won't ever let me sleep, they worry me the most. As soon as I fade into sleep, there they are, got a job for me to do. Chaotic carnival of lucid dreaming with everyone doing their assigned task. Then again, I don't want to get fired, so I have to sleep. Godspeed, Xenongod

There is a very big difference between the end of the world, and the end of "my world"

I fear losing my partner or my little boy.

To me, everything else is beyond my control and worrying about it will mean less time with my family.

This is why I hate terms such as "sheeple" and "waking up", the time I spend on this earth will be spent with the ones I love.

If pushed, I guess civil unrest and rioting is my biggest fear, especially in europe with austerity measures being drafted in.

I think I am more "worried" about what is going to happen in MY WORLD... which of course consists of those closest to me and what might happen to the ones I love, or worse...what those that I love and trust might possibly do to ME!

Wow, that's kind of eye opening for me to say the least. Each of us must be so concerned with our own little worlds that it makes it easier for TPTB to accomplish what they want. Sad, but more true than I probably even realize. I guess it is just what happens when the world around us gets so HUGE, as it truly has.

Back to the subject, "what is going on in the world we live in that worries you the most".... That for me would probably be Earthquakes....for some odd reason I suddenly became very concerned about the possibility of an extremely LARGE earthquake here in the U.S. a couple of years ago. This was suddenly on my mind to the extent that I began to research the subject, and look into the history of events in the area I live in, which then lead me directly to ATS...believe it or not.

I honestly did find ATS by stumbling upon the QuakeWatch thread here, and now visit the site daily to check in on that particular thread before browsing all the other informative and interesting subjects to be found here. I've truly grown to love this site and all that it consists of.

Honestly OP? I worry about only one thing in a MAJOR way. Everything else is secondary and can be handled in one way or another.

I worry about any major event or SHTF scenario that leads to the interruption of regular medicine. In my case, it's my wife and son. She won't survive it long without insulin, among other sustaining medical help and my son won't do well at all without similar support.

I'd be fine and my ornery and generally prickly self to anyone who gets too close (bares teeth) but those close to me aren't so independent these days and that does take some thought time when I let it.

Global environment change. Because I've been able to observe the changes first hand for the last few years, and it looks like it is going to be much faster and more severe than even the worst-case forecast scenarios. And that genuinely scares me.

Decline of society ending in total collapse of many nations, shortage of resources and goods, people on rations, rioting, looting, increase in crime rates, problems with electricity and water supply, tougher law enforcement/immediate justice without proper trials, people taking matters in their own hands, defending their homes, civilian militia and proactive vigilantes enforcing curfews.

Which I don't think will happen for the next couple of decennia, hopefully never. Why I think it'll take a while is mostly because of the elder or the babyboom generation. Right now many are still working but after they retire they become dependent on the younger generation who have to work twice as hard for the same luxury their parents had. They will have to work harder to support all the pension funds, health care will only become more expensive with people taking medicine for everything but also living longer.

It will drain a lot of society, the younger generation already has trouble with the burdens of debt and grows up with different prospects than the babyboomers had (less chance of becoming rich); this will affect morale and the will to live a productive life and sends many into a depression or at least less happiness because of a dark outlook on the future and the unhappy or stressed worker is the less productive one. A lot of the austerity cuts are because the elder are in power and they want to secure their retirement, they don't want to give up things they are used to and they don't want to look at the negative effects, not their problem, nobody wants to feel guilty unless they have to. I would want the elder in society to be taken care of, but not at my own expense. I would want to give up some but if it means I have to work my butt off so someone else can have his or her viagra or baby at high age I think that is just wrong.

Internet and new media play a role as well, it's much easier to connect the dots with so much information and get organized to affect change. I'm just hoping I'm out of society living selfsufficient the day everything comes to a grinding halt.

The thought of nuclear war still haunts me. Although the chances are slim the possibility exists and it's a scary thought knowing there's next to nothing you can do to prevent mass devastation once the missiles are launched. The stage isn't set for nuclear war but one day it could be, again. With Russia rebuilding their forces, China's military on the rise, loose nukes all over the Middle East the coming years could be regarded as dangerous as the Cold War. I hope the world's leaders can exercise restraint if they get in another sticky situation similar to the Cuban Missile Crisis.

There are two things that I know worry me. I know these two things will lead to an even more uncertain future for humans than what is already present.

- The global economy.
- The weather.

The economy is horrible, and the weather is beyond bizarre. I cannot deny it. Beyond these two things is speculation on my part, and placing faith in what I hear from outside information - this is where belief starts. These two things I can directly confirm with my own immediate experience without any influence from any outside source. These two things are not changing for the better. These two things are based on my KNOWING (direct experience) - something different than BELIEF which is based on feeling (outside influence).

These two things worry me the most.

That I will be reborn as a human or something else again living in a dualistic small minded world. That is the biggest horror I can think of.

How stupid people are.

Ignorance is the condition of not knowing, and this is often referred to as being stupid. Stupidity is often a choice about how informed we are (or appear to be) when we speak and act. People act stupid for many reasons. Much of the stupidity we see exhibited by others is due to laziness. It takes effort to be knowledgeable, and some people just don't take the time necessary to be informed. And that's why we live in this kind of the world.

And that's my fellow friends, what worries me the most.
