These are haunting and very creative!!! What technique do you use? I don't think I could turn something like this out.

They're mainly oil pastel, rub it in rub it off....that's my technique.






Most people just rub it on though, but i have a love-hate thing going on with the medium.








Sometimes chalk pastel for background luminosity.

It's just A4 pencil drawing and water colour, which is the medium i like best, it's Audrey of course


I did it while listening to this, we are the children of the sun, with sunflowers in our hair

Thanks, to be honest i hide everything under the bed and never show it anyone, just that abeverage asked so i scanned a few bits of A4 crayon smudges, most of my work is larger though in water colour and oil





That one's about 5 foot by 3.5, oil on hardboard.

It would be quite alright if you wanted to hide this on one of the walls of my house.

This is beautiful and reminds me of a painting my mother had up in my childhood home.

Why has this thread gone quiet? I was really enjoying looking at the art and the comments.

it’s all very breath taking, I can’t even draw a stick man, I would love to have this talent because I have so much in my head I want to put on paper but I’m inability to draw stops me doing this.

Well i hope you enjoy these, which are A3 size oil pastel lanscapes, the best size for this medium. The way i go about creating these is just to slap the pastel on the paper then draw it out, pushing back to let the paper provide the light, so the pastel is just a faint stain, but froming darker ridges in concentrated areas.










































It's a very relaxing way of creating landscape, i don't worry about what the result will be just determine the flow, and don't worry about adding human elements to try and make the pictures interesting, it's just the creative flow and variations in light and colour for me.

I sure was hoping I would find more beauty this morning...and sure enough...

Awesome work friend. You have such a lovely talent. I paint here and there but not enough. I used to paint and draw all the time, I really need to get back into it. It's a really good outlet and it does relax you.

When did you start creating these? Have you always been drawn to art. I've never seen you around before...at least I don't think. It seems I would remember cause your avatar is awesome as well.

I'm an art historian and around these parts i guess i concern myself a lot more with the historical and religious aspects, and neglect the art, but i like the pastel landscapes as they were an exercise in understanding patterns within nature, seamless flow between land water and air, they were fun to do a few years ago.






They break the golden rule of landscape in that there is no human involvement within the landscape, pictorial interest, but i thought they gave insight into Divine Creativity, and actually represent the local landscape i grew up in better than anything else i'd seen, in terms of feel.


So it was more about the spirit of the land i guess.
