1 The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

The history of videogaming can be split into the pre-and post-Zelda eras. Before Zelda, adventure games had rigidly linear story lines interwoven with obstacles that, once overcome, offered little more than a high score to brag about........

I personally disagree and think Final Fantasy should be no.1 but its 11. And plus GTA is like 3 or 4 what is that!!!!!!!!!

Zelda is the best RPG game. I like every part of it, from nes to gamecube.

Have you played final fantasy???? I grew up on Zelda. I mean notin wrong with Zelda i give it a strong No. 2 or even tie with FF but they put FF in 11th. I grew up on Zelda. FF won the write in vote though i thinkif it was in the top five ppl would have voted for it more than zelda

I was more of the phantasy star fan, i feel it created the console rpg

Phantasy Star 4 is my favorite
followed by Shadowrun (genesis) if you've never played those two, you've missed out on some great gaming!

I think Final Fantasy 7 is the best game of all time

All these games are too complex for me...

The games I love are the one with Mario!
One of them, Mario kart is very nice. You can play with your friends on races, you can trick by launching shells, use bananas...

I love also bubble bubble.

1) Final Fantasy(I've only played FF7 but the others look good and since 7 is soooooo good...)
2) Zelda series
3) Golden Sun

Zelda definitely deserves a top three. Sod does FF7.

I'm surpsied that Pokemon was on the list(48, I think), but the Golden Sun games weren't. You can IM me if ya want an explanation of the games(I want those who wish to know the storyline to IM me cause I can't login, so I can't read any u2us).

I can't believe, however, that GTA3 got #3, but Mario only got like 8th. It blows my mind... Oh! And Sonic the Hedgehog was on the list! I'm damn proud of that because it got on the list, and I'm like the only one in my town like likes Sonic games.

i wasn't able to access the link to check, but i hope resident evil is listed on there as well. i don't think i've ever had something scare me quite like that the first time i saw it. blah, gives me the chills sometimes....

I think jsut all the recent buz about GTA3 is why its on the list but it is beyond my imagination y it is # 3. I dont think you can say this game is one this game is 2 so on and so on. this would be my list though if i had to make one.

2. Zelda
3 Mario
4. Half life (counterstrike)
5. Doom

They dont make games like they used to.

Dragon Warrior for NES is *by far* the best game ever. Zelda and Final Fantasy fall closely behind (I like Zelda better).

Sorry to tell you but the greatest RPG ever of all time is Final Fantasy 7. Without question. And I wouldn't classify the Zelda games as "RPG" they are more action/adventure in the vein of Mario Bros than an actual RPG.

Dont get me wrong Im a Huge Zelda fan. The best of which was The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past for the SNES.

Best games is like this:

1. Final Fantasy series (VI is the best hands down. Best storyline, 7 is next but the ones on super nintendo were just amazing.
2. Chrono trigger, which I am amazed that no one has mentioned yet.
3. Zelda for the SNES. Nothing beats the classics.
4. Mario 3 and the lost levels.

Maybe I'm just old school, but barely anygames nowadays impress me. Sure they might have great graphics, but the old school games had amazing gameplay and the stories were actually good cuz they had to rely on something to make you want to play. I forgot to mention Metal Gear, all of them of course, but its still nothing compared to the games above.

Also keep in mind that this is Entertainment Weekly's top list, so I highly doubt they are 'experts' and this is more of their opinion.

I played more Genesis than Snes as a child
So I have to say

1. Phantasy Star 4
2. Shadowrun
3. Phantasy Star 2
Top 3 Genesis RPGs, PS4 was awesome, I loved the story line and the chrs.
Shadowrun was ultra awesome too. Great game by FASA, you could enter cyberspace and do battles and hack into systems and steal files then sell them, or you could bust into corp HQs and assasinate people, get out people who wanted a change in career, you would get jobs from a Mr. Johnson as they were called and they'd range from killing mob members to cyber attacks to smuggling and many other types. Anyways you could get implants, or stay clear of cybernetics and learn magic shaman type spells. Was very well done for it's time..

Only game that has impressed me recently is Enter the Matrix and Planet Side
