Giant, hot-pink slugs found in Australia

Thats the only new tree species I am aware from Australia too. The other one does sounds interesting though..

We have these guys, almost stepped on one on the front steps today. They get big too, bet they would make a cute couple!

I have just recently moved back to the UK after 4 years in Australia, and that slug doesn't surprise me in the least. I have never known a place with so many different and strange creatures that roam that land down under, every day you seem to spot something you have never witnessed before. Bloody crazy place............

how interesting, that such bright animals can exist such a long time without being discovered, I wonder what else might be out there

The problem with slugs is they can't hold their liqueur and always end up dead drunk!

I'm fascinated by the flora and fauna of Australia. Having done some research on the critters there, I wouldn't be surprised to find these giant slugs will chase you, spitting venom at you all the while!

It's a flamingo slug.

Maybe you can kill it with a little bit of pink himalayan sea salt.

I'm going to be incredibly suspicious of pink colored processed foods now. Great.

Because it's a slug and it is pink, when they normally are not.

Hey, would it be the Moringa tree you are talking about? It grows in AU and other places but I do not believe it is native. Moringa, the miracle tree. In this Wiki source I can only see reference points at the earliest being 1995 except for this reference tag here

I would bet the aborigines have known about them for a long time, maybe a delicacy to them, who knows?.

I swear white people run around with their eyes closed all the time.....

I have seen something like this in the past in Germany, it was a rusty brown red color though, I was wierded out by that hole on it's side that snapped shut when I poked it with a twig....And the fact that it was as big as my thumb.
