A dead bee that stung.
Christmas ornament hook.
A six pointed shuriken. Had to get a tetanus shot.
Piece of glass.
A pothole. Broke my leg.
A biting ant with giant pincers that wouldn't let go.

Those prickly thorns in the middle of clover fields seem to hurt the worst.

Goatheads!

I lived out in New Mexico for about 15-16 years and there were these things out there the locals called goatheads. I never knew nor heard of any other name for them. They are part of a plant - i.e. fruiting body, seedpod or something and each goathead has a few spikes on it which are incredibly sharp and stout. It seems as if there might be some sort of poisonous aspect to their bite because the sting doesn't go away quickly. When you step on one, you know it. It feels as if you've stepped on two or three wasps at once or have been attacked by three rapidographs which get red hot within a nanosecond or two.

These things would make Superman wince. No lie!

They're pretty easy to find, just take off your shoes and walk outdoors in New Mexico.

I would say LEGOs.....followed closely by IED.

Perhaps an IED of LEGOs?

I'm going to assume it was a British 3 square pronged electrical plug, the most painful plug in the plug pantheon

It's like a tire stinger for your feet

I managed to step on a stingray while wading in the Banana River Lagoon with my youngest daughter who was a toddler at the time...the spine on the tail of the stingray lacerated my big toe. Fortunately the spine did not break off in my toe. But still...the toe bled for three days...Still, was glad it was me and not her!

Hot grass. Like a splinter mixed with sunburn tossed with hives just to even it out.

A bee at the beach. Stinger got stuck deep in the center of my foot.

Left a horribly itchy welt for over a month.

Dozens of stingrays ( none stung me but they feel like snot )

Also, cherokee rose thorns. That is like stepping on a pike.

Gosh! To be honest it hurts coming out more than going in my feet. I always walk around barefoot and my feet are tougher than most whose feet are more sensitive. I have stepped on a nail that went through my sole and I pulled it out; glass at a casino that my skin grew over and had to be cut to get out. The most painful foot related injury was ingrown nails. Getting shots in your toes hurts like crazy! I hate pain and feeling weird. Getting both is bad for me.

Several folks have already mentioned some of the worst things I have stepped on (nail through foot for example).
One that I can add requires q bit of setup" I have 9 dogs - they chew on horse hooves as a treat sometimes. If you've ever stepped on a half-eaten horse hoof in the middle of the night...ouchy.

Legos

Out of all of the things I have stepped on, legos are the worst. I have had nails go through my foot, and that wasn't even as bad as the evil lego.

I see lots of others have had the lego experience.

Legos....still the number one most painful thing to step on. I have no idea why they are, but they just are. Maybe because you never step on just ONE, but many?

All the time, the dogs' favorite day, the day of the farrier's visit. Still doesn't compare to Legos.

Four sided dice...their like little, plastic caltrops.

Half a strip of 3/4 outdoor staples (the flat top of the staples were flush against the sole of my foot)

Also I was once running around my pool and my foot haappened to come down on the lid to water level gauge (looks like the skimmer lid but farther from the edge and on the opposite side of the pool) my foot went through the lid and in the hole and I kept going it broke my leg and ankle

The funny part of that is that only folks who know what four-sided dice are used for, will even know what a caltrop is....
The rest are going to have to Google it....

A goathead is the HARD seed of a "puncture vine" that is found in the Southwest. They are designed such that one long spike sticks straight up, so animals will step on them and propagate them. Unfortunately, my four dogs propagate them into the house and pull them out, leaving them on the floor in the hallway for me to step on as I stumble to the bathroom at 2 AM... And it hurts long after you pull it out. Sometimes the spike breaks off inside the foot. It's lovely.

My husband and I call them "son-of-a-bitches", because that's what we automatically utter upon stepping on them.

I once put my foot through a floorboard, taking the entire skin off, my foot then (completeley raw) continued through into a vat of piranha filled vinegar.

I jest.

Probably a plug or a hair straightener (whilst on)

I've seen many post legos.....While I agree they hurt like crazy....plastic army men are the WORST!!!!

Especially when they blend into the color of the rug and are laid out in battle formation all over the living room.

Gotta love having young boys.

Broken glass on the beach.

Did that one 2 weeks ago.

I was actually doing a backflip off a 3 ft sand cliff and landed on the beach, onto a broken piece of glass.

That sucker was bleeding for 6 hours. I probably needed stiches but I was drunk and did not care. It closed after it got filled with sand and sock lint. I woke up with blood at the food of my bed the next morning. That’s how I know it was a bad one.
