This is one the older threads at ATS, 2004, wow 6 years ago.

They recently slightly modified there belief on this, it was believed that after 9/11 it could be the radical Muslims that would trigger this event. As of 2010 they believe that it is Christendom that gets hit first, showing the world that God is displeased with those professing to serve him, all other religions soon follow.

In America we used to have the Freedom of Religion.

No more. The "healthcare" Bill Congress/Barrack passed says you no longer have a Freedom of Religion and can not opt out of the new mandatory Federal Tax coming online in 2014.

You can't use religion to refuse "Nationalized Healthcare". It really isn't about healthcare, it's about generating new federal revenue to fund the +70 million baby boomers Social Security.

Thus Freedom of Religion no longer exists in the United States.

Church's used to be able to set up under "nonprofit" status and didn't have to report income if it was below a certain threshhold, nor register with the IRS. Now ALL nonprofits must register with the IRS:

www.pennlive.com/midstate/index.ssf/2010/10/small_nonprofits_must_register.html

Most don't even know they were supposed to do so...and the IRS is getting ready to REVOKE their nonprofit status very soon and they ALL will be subject to IRS fines, fees, interest......

They were waiting until after the November election to start sending out the notices.

I don't think UN will be able to ban religion throughout the world. However, UN may ban religion in terms of its reference in meetings, discussions and policies. It may also urge world leaders not to mix religion with politics.

That's funny.
In the future Medieval type feudalism the UN really wants, the Church will be politics, the only politics that the general serf will ever run into directly, other than the troops that will come to his house to drag him off for execution, if he ever dares to question it.

These are the same people who refuse to allow their children life saving blood transfusions for fear of the eternal soul which their children can of course have no true understanding of. Not exactly the most logical of the already less than well reasoned religious.

If the Jehovah Witnesses really believed that the UN would ban religion, then why did the Watchtower join the UN as an NGO?

Seems there was a big scandal about eight or ten years ago when some of the members found out that the Watchtower was a member of the UN though all along the representative speakers of the Watchtower had been bad mouthing the UN as being "the beast" to their congregations.

There was a big falling away of membership among many that found the documented proof of Watchtower membership from the UN website. Some members today are still in denial because the Watchtower tells them the UN document is fake and warn them to stay off the internet because it is Satan's tool.

First heres a link that fully explores this claim...if anybody is interested in facts more than rumors.

www.jehovahsjudgment.co.uk...

Second...what does the bible tell us about Gods view on how His subjects should view earthly governments
Please read:

(Titus 3:1-2) 3 Continue reminding them to be in subjection and be obedient to governments and authorities as rulers, to be ready for every good work, 2 to speak injuriously of no one, not to be belligerent, to be reasonable, exhibiting all mildness toward all men.

(Matthew 22:18-21) 18 But Jesus, knowing their wickedness, said: “Why do YOU put me to the test, hypocrites? 19 Show me the head tax coin.” They brought him a de·nar′i·us. 20 And he said to them: “Whose image and inscription is this?” 21 They said: “Caesar’s.” Then he said to them: “Pay back, therefore, Caesar’s things to Caesar, but God’s things to God.”

(Romans 13:1-7) 13 Let every soul be in subjection to the superior authorities, for there is no authority except by God; the existing authorities stand placed in their relative positions by God. 2 Therefore he who opposes the authority has taken a stand against the arrangement of God; those who have taken a stand against it will receive judgment to themselves. 3 For those ruling are an object of fear, not to the good deed, but to the bad. Do you, then, want to have no fear of the authority? Keep doing good, and you will have praise from it; 4 for it is God’s minister to you for your good. But if you are doing what is bad, be in fear: for it is not without purpose that it bears the sword; for it is God’s minister, an avenger to express wrath upon the one practicing what is bad. 5 There is therefore compelling reason for YOU people to be in subjection, not only on account of that wrath but also on account of [YOUR] conscience. 6 For that is why YOU are also paying taxes; for they are God’s public servants constantly serving this very purpose. 7 Render to all their dues, to him who [calls for] the tax, the tax; to him who [calls for] the tribute, the tribute; to him who [calls for] fear, such fear; to him who [calls for] honor, such honor.

But...if anyone is interested in the full story about the witnesses and the UN...check that link.

Till then.....

Could the UN ban all Religion...How?
Thats what I want to know

"Here is where the intelligence that has wisdom comes in: The seven heads mean seven mountains, where the woman sits on top. 10 And there are seven kings: five have fallen, one is, the other has not yet arrived, but when he does arrive he must remain a short while. 11 And the wild beast that was but is not, it is also itself an eighth [king], but springs from the seven, and it goes off into destruction."
~ Revelation 17:9-11

It is absolutely BEYOND awesome that there exists a book that actually has history WRITTEN IN ADVANCE within it!

‘Impossible!,’ some say.

Yet, there IS a book that really did tell history in advance—HUNDREDS, sometimes even THOUSANDS of years BEFORE the events occurred!

That book is... the Bible, no other book (religious or otherwise) ANYWHERE on planet earth is capable of doing this.

No imperfect human being of their own originality has the ability to actually ACCURATELY fortell the future before it happens and get it right 100% each and everytime WITHOUT FAIL.

I'm talking about ACCURATELY fortelling actual HISTORY IN ADVANCE (before it happens)... NO IMPERFECT HUMAN can do this.

But yet, the Bible DOES just that! That reason alone is ONE of the main reasons (if not THE main reason) why I KNOW (not simply just believe) that the Bible IS DEFINITELY the holy book from God THE Almighty and what is written within it is DEFINITELY NOT from the source of ancient imperfect humans.

The Bible not only reported ancient events WITH ACCURACY but in a most amazing way it even foretold the major outline of WORLD HISTORY as it would affect God’s people, from the time of ancient Babylon, more than 2,500 years ago, down to and even BEYOND our present day!

Daniel, a prophet who lived in the sixth century before our Common Era, was given four separate revelations that dealt with the future of world history. Where did he get his information? Said Daniel himself at Daniel 2:28... and I quote:

“There exists a GOD in the heavens who is a Revealer of SECRETS.” ~Daniel 2:28

That and what follows in what I am posting is how I KNOW that individuals such as Atheists are absolutely beyond the shadow of any doubt 100% WRONG in their belief that God does not exist... unless of course they can somehow justify that imperfect human beings DO have the ability to accurately foretell HISTORY IN ADVANCE and get in spot on, dead center CORRECT 100% each and every time they do so. Yet, the Bible (which WAS written by imperfect humans) does this.

Archaeologists, uncovering the remains left by ancient world powers, have found astounding proof of the truthfulness both of the HISTORY and of the PROPHECY found in the Bible.

Two of the great world powers of Biblical history, Egypt and Assyria, existed long BEFORE Daniel’s time. Babylon WAS RULING in Daniel’s day, and the names of the SUCCEEDING TWO world powers were revealed to the prophet (Daniel 2:47, 48; 8:20, 21).

Two OTHERS would follow these, bringing us up to our present time in which we now live.

According to the Bible, how many of such world powers would there be? The answer was given to the aged apostle John and shows EXACTLY where we are in the stream of time from God's standpoint. An angel told John at Revelation 17:10... and I quote:

“There are SEVEN kings: FIVE have fallen, ONE is, THE OTHER has not yet arrived.”
~Revelation 17:10

What FIVE world powers had already come and gone by the apostle John’s day?

#1) Egypt

#2) Assyria

#3) Babylon

#4) Medo-Persia

#5) Greece.

Which one STILL EXISTED during the apostle's John's time when he wrote the Revelation he received?

Rome (#6).

Which power had “not yet arrived”? The Anglo-American World Power of our day (Brittain & The United States of America).

These are the world powers with which God’s people, ancient and modern, have been primarily concerned.

An especially important FACT is this: There was to be a SUCCESSION of ONLY SEVEN such world powers! A contemporaneous EIGHTH power, which would include remnants of the seven, was foretold to exist for a short time during the days of the seventh (Revelation 17:10, 11).

The United Nations (formerly known as The League of Nations), IS this EIGHTH king/power.

This means that we are NOW living during the time of THE LAST of the great world powers ruled by imperfect man. There will be NO MORE!

Soon now, the world powers of imperfect man will have had their day. Daniel prophesied at Daniel 2:35 that these human systems will be CRUSHED and ‘carried away by the wind’.

What will replace them?

Something far better!!! Daniel reports at Daniel 2:44... and I quote:

“In the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be brought to ruin. . . . It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite”. Times indefinite means FOREVER.

So nothing less than GOD'S HEAVENLY KINGDOM will REPLACE these imperfect human world powers. What a magnificent improvement in world rulership!!!

Now then, picture this scene of Revelation 17:1-4. A disgusting harlot is sitting on the back of a fearsome beast. The beast has seven heads and ten horns. Whom does the harlot represent? What is recorded in Revelation says that she exerts INFLUENCE “over the kings of the earth” (aka political powers). What is recorded in Revelation also says that she dresses in purple, uses incense, and is exceedingly wealthy. In addition, what is recorded in Revelation also says that by means of her SPIRITISTIC PRACTICE, ‘all the nations are misled’ (Revelation 17:18; 18:12, 13, 23).

The Bible helps us to see that this harlot IS a worldwide RELIGIOUS entity. Contrary to popular belief, she depicts, not any ONE religion, but ALL religions that produce ROTTEN fruit. In otherwords, she represents the worldwide religious empire entity of FALSE religion which is not of and or originates from the One true Almighty God whose personal name according to Psalm 83:18 is... JEHOVAH (/27qrodn ).

The beast that the harlot rides pictures the world’s political powers (Revelation 17:10-13). False religion straddles the back of this political beast, attempting to INFLUENCE its decisions and to control its direction... which is EXACTLY what religion does.

Soon, though, an amazing event WILL take place. According to Revelation 17:16 the apostle John was told... and I quote:

“The ten horns that you saw, and the wild beast, these will hate the harlot and will make her devastated and naked, and will eat up her fleshy parts and will completely burn her with fire.”

In a sudden, shocking move, the world’s political powers (which will be under the authority of the EIGHTH king, aka the United Nations) will turn on false religion and completely destroy her!

What will prompt this action? The Bible book of Revelation answers at Revelation 17:17:

“GOD put it into their hearts to carry out HIS thought.”
~ Revelation 17:17

Yeppers, JEHOVAH GOD ALMIGHTY is very soon about to call false religion to account for ALL the despicable acts of crimes against humanity she has committed in his name. In a stroke of perfect justice, God will use her political paramours as his instrument of execution, in the same way he did with the ancient city of Babylon itself.

What must people in our day do if they DO NOT WANT to share the fate of what is about to soon happen with false religion? “GET OUT OF HER, my people,” urges God’s messenger at Revelation 18:4!

Now is the time for people to flee from false religion! GET OUT OF HER!!! But to where can people flee? DEFINITELY NOT into Atheism, since its future is also bleak according to 2 Thessalonians 1:6-9.

The ONLY haven is within TRUE religion. How sincere people identify true religion? The following 100% Bible based article provides THE answer:

/n6uml8
[HOW TO FIND THE TRUE RELIGION]

Carefully read it with a copy of ANY Bible... it IS LITERALLY a matter of life and death people... SERIOUSLY, you are being warned.

When these things that are destined to occur actually SOON COME ABOUT, all of you people who think what has been stated here is utter nonsense and or who don't take this as SERIOUS as it really is, won't be able to claim that you weren't given WARNING well in advance.

**Mindy lowers and slowly shakes her head from side to side at the person/people who in their ignorance give whats being relayed a "thumbs down"**

Your destruction by God's wrath will be on YOUR OWN heads:

"Watch out! Don’t let your hearts be dulled by carousing and drunkenness, and by the worries of this life. Don’t let that day catch you unaware, 35 like a trap. For that day will come upon EVERYONE LIVING ON EARTH. 36 Keep alert at all times. And pray that you might be strong enough TO ESCAPE these coming HORRORS and stand before the Son of Man.”
~ Luke 21:34-36 (New Living Translation)
"There was an article on the internet talking about banning of religion in England....."

12- How many Bible prophecies remain to be fulfilled before God destroys this present system? Very few! One of the last is at 1 Thessalonians 5:3, which states: “ While they are talking of peace and security, all at once calamity is upon them”. ( The New English Bible) This shows that the end of this system will begin “while they are talking.” Unforeseen by the world , destruction will strike when least expected, when the attention of humans is on their hoped-for peace and security."

Current event's that are now taking place all over the world can't be ignored any longer. You can feel it in the air and see it on peoples faces. The uncertainty and anxiety and fear of what's coming our way.
Now, to pacify this fear - man's government will attempt to say that "there's peace and security" but there's none. "Religion" on the other hand will try to lend its support, even will try to meddle more and impose their own will upon political rulers - but it will fail. They will try to dictate to these rules what needs to happen. But they (UN members) will come to understand and realize that it is "religion" (called Babylon the great in the bible) is what's actually in their way of achieving this "peace and security". Yes they will "see" that "religion" is the roadblock for them to achieve this goal so they will be force to clamped down on the "powers" of these "religious leaders". Once they know that they can do this w/o any protest from the public/masses they will feel more emboldened and will fell more powerful. At that moment/time they will come to realize that there's no need for them any longer! So it's a sobering warning to all “religion” that meddling in politics will only bring them destruction (one of the reasons why JW's don't participate in any political events besides our complete allegiance to Jehovah God).

Think about this, years ago one can't even imagine or see this happening, but the fact is, support for "religion" is going down further. People are getting tired of it and see religious leaders themselves have no credibility. Europe or for that matter the west is becoming more secularized. At the same time "radical religions" are bent on imposing their own "sharia law". Yes time is coming in which people will demand to put a stop to this perceive "madness" once and for all. That demand will give the political rulers of the world (UN) the will to now “ban” religion for the sake of the “people” and to preserve “peace and security” of the world.

Think about this facts:
Most of the major wars in times past and currently going on around the world is related to “religion” in one form or another.
Christendom (so called christian nations) against Muslim, Christendom against Christendom (WWI and WWII). Muslim against Muslim, Buddhist against Buddhist, Hindu against Muslim just to name a few.
How many blood was shed from these wars? Yet EACH “religion” claim to represent a god! Christendom claims to have the Bible on one hand and at the same time gun on the other hand.

Yes time is coming when the world will demand to put a stop to this! So do you still think that it will not happen?

Question is; what must you do before you see it happening? The Bible has the answer!

Ban religion?
Really? How could anyone or any group or organization of any kind ban religion? Religion has been around as long as man has been around. Religion is a belief system. Does someone or anyone or any group have the power to stop 7 billion people from thinking?

I didn't ask if religion could stop people from thinking. Let's not mix my words around for your own fancy. I personally do not believe in religion but I have faith. I will agree that religion can be a good source of brainwashing and sheeple collecting, but I will save that discussion for another thread.

Anyone that believes any group could ban religion probably also believes in the tooth fairy. Even the brainwashed religious sheeple are still PART OF A RELIGION.

This makes sense. Wasn't complex at all Hunter. Quite the contrary...it was juvenile as is this last post. Did the subject of this thread suddenly turn to me? I mean, I'm flattered but...the topic is about the JHs thinking the UN is going to ban religion.
Also juvenile...just an excuse to create a thread...

Glad your flattered by the clarification, shows that you respond well to the reward/discipline system

.On topic, this thread isn't juvenile at all,but attempts to delve into the machinations of an apocalyptic cult that controls its worshipers through badly interpreted prophesy, fear and downright lies. ( like most mainstream religions really)
