The choice was mine, still is. The elders come by from time to time.

I'll ask again, what faith do you ascribe to?

Do you attend a church?

I agree, people don't need church or priests to find God. God is within you and this is also what Jesus was saying. It's a great shame and blasphemy what church did and what new organized sub-religions do today. I don't need JW or Vatican to show me the path. They are all blind more or less.

someone trying to pigeon hole me like that right now

I practice biblical church teaching, door to door...in the home.
is that a good answer?

That's because someone is avoiding the issue.

Care to define "biblical church teaching"? Is it just door to door and in the home?

no it was also in the synagoge.
And Paul also taught in the market square.
PS the greek word for church does denote a building.

You can try to find a way I am different from a JW heavenly class, but so far I am walking the fine line of JW functions.
I see door to door, I see in home bible study, I see only heavenly class eat the memorial, I see that only heavenly class go to heaven, I see no difference.
You can look for one, thats your progitive.

No I wasn't looking for a difference. I thought it was ironic that what you're saying IS what JW's believe.

i am a practicing jehovas witness.
so far (2 years).
i have seen nothing but love and affection for EVERYBODY, that includes praying for everybody in the world not just baptised brothers and sisters .
i have studies lots of denominations of "christianity" and have found that JWs are the only ones who really abide by bible standards. accept it or not there is nothing you can do about it( THEY STICK TO THE BIBLE).
JWs are not perfect and mistakes are made with great sadness. but anything that is bad is always bought to attention and sinners are not able to corrupt the rest of the group.
i am sorry if anybody has had bad experiances with JWs and i can see how hate can break free for people who have been disfellowshipped.
They are9 as far as i can see).
the ones preaching the good news throuhout the entire in haabited earth, at the time of the end. human interpritation to scripture is what has given the path to wars and hatred of other cultures.
we believe that it did not take human wisdon to write the bible, nor should it take human wisdon to interprate it. let scripture explain scripture, thats all the Jws are guilty of. being true christians

I love JW's, I dated one for two years and went to kingdom hall for two years....hey what could it hurt?
I will say that they are loving...but the excommunicated disfellowship thing is dishonourable and not in anyway related to Yeshua or Love

I also would further say, since I love Catholics too
that your both the same

you have the watchtower, they have the pope, both are infallible.

you have the elders of the watertower to allow you back in (in essence forgiveness and absolution), catholics have confession and a priest.

your both the same
your no different

you do not understand the Word of God because your bible is corrupt and you mix apples and oranges with the Deity of Yeshua

Your as decieved as a Catholic is over Mary and Saints and purgatory
Your thought is that there is nothing after death
thats wrong on all sides.

I love you very much, but your bible translation is a heritic lie, and the watchtower is the pope in disguise

God Bless, for he knows your heart and it is pure, the religous leaders do not have the same blessing or consciouness.
Shalom

I have been around Jehovah's Witnesses for well over a couple decades and i have never heard of the U.N. mentioned in any conversation.

Since the initial end of the world claims were made by Charles Taze Russell, and next in line Brother Rutherford, I have not heard anymore dates given. Now, I only hear that the end is near and the new system is coming.

but people like brad_f are really serious when they long for the deaths of all other humans.

not true at all

God states that he wishes all people to be saved . however "all" people wont adjust their lives to Gods standards

its God who says hes going to wipe out corruption on earth

people are disfellowshipped out of the JW organisation true .

the standards for human behaviour are set out by God in scripture . if you want to go against Gods commands then your life belongs outside of his organisation

conversly , if you choose to live by Gods commandments - he offers to you a life without death , pain or suffering . the choice is yours & he doesnt force you to obey

which god? thor? poseidon? baal? amateratsu? allah? yahweh?

anyway, the UN is actually moving towards making ANY criticism of religion into... hate speech. if someone says it's stupid to believe that a historical jesus exists because it lacks any evidence to support itself... they're going to be a criminal. a purely academic discussion that just happens to go against someone's religious beliefs will cause people to... be criminals.... that's stupid

anyway, the jehovah's witnesses are essentially a cult... more so than other religions.

there is only one Creator , only he is worhty of being worshipped as a god

the bible is self evident in having come from a source beyond human ability - Jehovah , or in old hebrew Yahweh , is the creator of the universe & of mankind

Well this topic is of interest to me, as it should anybody observing world events, so here is what the JW's have said about it. Agree or disagree with them this is what they think about it.
In reading some of this thread I have seen no quotes from JW's books so I will provide some. First the basics, what you need to know.

All false religion = Babylon The Great aka The Harlot/Whore

Unitied Nations = Scarlet colored Wild Beast aka image of the beast
Also "the disgusting thing" from Christdom's perspective

The Bible book of Revelation, and the Watchtower book "Revelation It's Grand climax at hand" is used to undertand this.

So they say this Beast will turn on and destroy the Harlot most likely in an effort to assert better control of world situation that has developed.

Quotes from the Watchtower Society

"Keep on the Watch" (Brochere) 2004
"Will the worlds governments really do such a thing? The bible states that 'God will put it into there hearts'.(Revelation 17:17)It will be sudden, suprising, shocking, not foreseeable or gradual."

It is likened to how the ancient city of Babylon was conquered by the Medes and Persains in 539 BCE in one day, to the suprize of the world at that time.

"Revelation It's Grand Climax at Hand"(Book) 1988,2006

Talking about a the worlds governments "They will feel that it is in their nationalistic interests to turn upon the great harlot. They may come to view the continued existence of organized religion within their boundaries as a threat to their sovereignty.....Yes, the nations will use the scarlet-colored wild beast, the United Nations in destroying Babylon the Great...When the time comes, the nations will evidently see the need to strengthen the United Nations. They will give it teeth, as it were, lending it whatever authority and power they possess so that it can turn upon false religion and fight sucessfully against her "until the words of God will have been acomplished"".

This above point is of interest to CT people who think the UN has or will get too much power, because thats what the JW's say the book of Revelation says too.

And this quote is interesting as well Watchtower May 1, 1999
Talking about Babylon the Great
"The unclean influenece she has wielded over the kings of the earth will dramatically change as that relationship turns into one of violent hatred on the part of the 'ten horns and the wild beast'. When the "scarlet-colored wild beast" attacks the religious harlot, "the disgusting thing" will be standing in a menacing way in Christdom's so-called holy place".

The JW's compare this to the Romans attack on Jersusalem in 66 CE and 70 CE.

As to when it will happen, that is what they are waiting for, because they don't know. They had a special world wide campaign last fall(2006) to let people know religion's end is near.

Finally they believe that the UN attack on religion triggers something the bible calls the "Great Tribulation" the second phase of this tribulation includes Armagedon which ends the current economic, political and military systems in place, they are replaced by a theocratic government from heaven, which includes that 144,000 mentioned before in this thread.
There will be survivors, judged as worthy by Jesus himself. All the rest will die and cease to exist, no hell. Just like sleeping without dreams.

Well, many believe these idea's are insane, all I can say is watch to see if the UN turns on religion, and if they do, then you will know if they are right or wrong. And if they are right on this one, then most likely they are right about their other beliefs.

hmmm, makes me think.

Didn't Jesus say that the end times will be like the days of Noah?
Didn't Peter say that Noah was a preacher?
My guess is that Noah ended his preaching when he entered the Ark. Seven days later the flood came. Could the seven days of waiting be like the great tribulation? I bet they were laughed at, pretty bad, while they were in there.

With all this said, banning religion would stop all preaching who ever you are.

Jehovahs Witnesses.

Mmm.

What to think!

"Muslims" respesct J,W's more than any other religion.

They both believe in the Bible also.

J,W's don't go to war or kill people.

Sihks, Hindhu's and others have very similar beliefs.

Jehovahs people are the only people to annoy people by their preaching their religion. They are the only "religion" to preach in every country (yes even yours!). And accept people from all walks of life.

Didn't Jesus say the message would be preached in every land (country)?

Well that time is up "where do you stand?

You are someone else......

?

"The District Assemblies have and are now taking place"

WoW!

Jesus Christ is now about to ...
