Once the scale and duration of the - planet wide - devastation a full scale nuclear war was absolutely guaranteed to bring everyone was understood, everyone gave up on that whole 'shelter' idea.

It's a total waste of money, effort and resources with no real practical benefit in the objectives they are/were designed for.

Tiger you really need to quit while you're ahead. I'm starting to get the impression you're one of those who won't admit it when you're wrong or misinformed, but in this case, you really should.

Let's think about your logic for a moment...

The population of Russia as of June 2004 was 143,782,338 people. Your figure of 94% would mean you're claiming Russia can evacuate roughly 135,155,000 people in 15 minutes.

Where are these bunkers? Right under every citizens house? Because that's where they'd have to be to evacuate even half that number in fifteen minutes. What about all the parents who would spend that 15 minutes trying to track down their kids? What about all the people who would get stuck in colossal traffic jams, trying to get home from work so they could warn their family members? What about all the people who would inevitably go looking for their loved ones before they decided to go into a bunker? What about the SUBSTANTIAL number of poor citizens who have no access to transportation other than foot? How about the poverty stricken rural citizens who don't even have a tv or radio to hear the warning when it's given? What about the time it would take for that many people just to file into a bunker? Go to a rock concert sometime and see how long it takes for 20,000 rabid ticket holders to file into an arena through multiple entrances. I could go on and on...

I don't doubt you've heard or read a comment made by some general about Russia's evacuation capabilities. But just because somebody said it or wrote it doesn't make it so. It is impossible to evacuate that many people in that span of time. Period.

I'm not even disputing your claim that Russia would destroy us in a war. Maybe so. But if you're gonna throw facts around to back your position, at least make sure they're not absurd.

Now, will you address this post and not avoid the subject? Will you be an adult and admit you're wrong?

Pretty much since the UK and France are both nuclear powers they would be hit. Where do you think they point those nukes they have out into the ocean. They are pointed at Mother Russia thats the point the are there. They knew Russia could take them out with nukes and they wanted to be able to throw a few back.

If your a military ally of either side theres a good chance you would get hit. Both side made thousands and thousands of nukes because they had a lot of targets. Heck Russia even planned on building a DoomsDay Bomb. A single giant ship that was a huge bomb one so big it would kill all humans on earth. Thankfully I think they were never crazy enough to build it. But with a weapon like that you even kill your allies.


As for Japan and South Korea they would both get hit as they both have US military bases which makes them a target right off the bat.

No one wins a nuclear war , a full scale nuke war would not destroy the earth (mother nature always survives) but it very possibily could kill off most of the human race.

and if Russia has such great evacuation capability what the hell happened in

This is very true when I talk about all life I should have said all human life and most animals. Most likely something on the scale of past mass exinctions 90% of life dead. Nuclear winter would kill the most I would think. Things like cockroachs and scorpions would surive for sure. A scorpion can even take more rads then a cockroach.

Okay...but thats my point we do not have any nuclear degense agreemnet with Russia. WE're allies nonetheless but the treaty doesn't include nuclear response agreement. I think even Australia has something of that sort with the US.

So where DO India and Pakistan stand insuch a scenario??Also China wouldn't want to be hit in a US-Russia conflict, they're not allies of the russians you know.So im still confused..What happens to China, Inida, and Pakistan?

Pakistan's postion is even more complicated..Its nuke s have the fundamentalist islamic twist....the most likely nuke cache taht can get inito to the hands of Osaamas out there

China might get hit by both the US and Russia as both dont fully trust China. China has nukes aimed at both Russia and the US I would think.

India and Pakistan is a hard one they might just nuke each other. The US is more on India's side but I dont really know how that would work out.

I mean if I were a common chinese, then i'd be pretty insecure . I mean its like :
"my country's going to get nuked by both sides who were initially nuking each other and my country had nothing to do with the whole blo0dy thing in the 1st place!!"

you missed my query completely, I was asking whether India and/or Paksitan would be nuked by any 3rd party in the above mentioned scenario...

About India and Pakistan I think since they both have nukes and have been fighting for a long time, seeing thousands of nukes flying around might be enough to make either side shoot. Somone in Pakistan might think the US would help their ally India and might make a bad choice.

If the nukes every start flying everyone is going to be in a state of confusion and Chaos. Top level of military readiness with their fingers above the button if they have nukes.

As for China back in the Cold War days if it came to a WW3 type thing China and Russia would both be against America. Russia and China might not have like each other but fighting a common enemy they would stand with each other. But since they are still a nuclear power one of the big 5 they would most likely get hit.


But the threat of this type of thing ever happening has went down a great deal compared to the Cold War days. Nobody wins in a nuclear war and that stopped us from getting into one during the height of tension during the Cold War.

Nobody wants a nuclear war the US, Russia, China they just want whats best for their people not to kill them all.
