I don't know what's up with this. My mom, every once in a while, will stop what she's doing and tell me to stop making a strange squealing sound. It's apparently coming from my mouth, although the last time this happened, it was closed.

I would know if I was making this noise myself, because I know when my vocal cords are moving-- and believe me, I would have to try hard to make my voice go as high as what she's claiming to hear.

I never hear it myself. Although one time I think I heard it too, but it was coming from the other side of the house. It was a constant note, and kind of musical.

But my mom thought it was coming from me. This doesn't occur often, but I'm already beginning to dread the next time, because my mom thinks I'm an absolute retarded weirdo when it happens.

Your mom has schizophrenia.

Tell her she needs to see a psychologist.

I said it was a squealing sound... damn, how did I know someone was going to interpret 'noise' as the low booming tone of escaped wind?

Well, that's what my ex-wife sounded like letting "wind"

But she also gave it away it was her because she giggled a little when she did it....

Pretty hasty diagnosis there. What kind of super doctor are you Wertdagf?

Is this the advice you give to anyone veering off "normal'?

When I do it, fine, when it was the ex I thought it was disgusting

I don't know why but it always seems more unpleasant when it's a women who's guilty.

Well .. it could be anything - from electrical devices (TV, radio, modem, router, etc.) to brain tumor. Hundreds of possibilities here and nothing suspicious

Something similar happened to me the other day in the elevator, which I took with my neighbour. We heard a low noise of gassy origin, and we looked at each other in surprise. He then pointed his finger at me! Ashamed, I replied: "Me? That surely wasn't me!!" To which he replied: "No, not you! For you!!"

*scratches head*
I vaguely remember my mom telling me something similar about myself ...and I never heard it ,but she said I made these happy mmm mmmm noises with my mouth, when I ate food .
Never heard it ,but I think I must have done it .
I just like food.

However ,this is a catch 22 in your case .
Is it
A- you're making this noise ,and just can't hear it
B- something is messing with your mum ,making her hear it ,and hear it coming from you .

I would smudge the house ,throw holy water etc. It sounds creepy to say the least .

I want to explain whats happening, i figured out what is really going on with hauntings and mental illness and chronic pain. But it's too soon for that story. ive been left fighting everyday in myself. I dont want that to happen to others.

How loud are these squeals, exactly?

My first thought was maybe your nose was whistling when you breathe... or maybe you are wheezing a bit? I don't want to sound dismissive, but that was the first thing I thought of. It doesn't explain why she'd hear it when you are in another part of the house (if you were wheezing that loudly, surely you would be aware of it.)

Does she have a recorder, or a smart phone with recording capabilities? See if she'd be willing to carry that with her for a few days and flip it on the next time she hears it.

My question is :
Does the sound stop when she tells you to stop making the sound ?
If it does then it is comming from you, if it does not then it is either a problem with her hearing
like tinnitus: en.wikipedia.org... or some type of eletctronic device is effecting her.

The new energy saveing lightbulbs give of a very high pitched sound also.
