Iran begins 'massive' deployment of long-range missile launchers

As the Islamic Republic of Iran prepares for presidential elections next month it is fielding a "massive" number of new long-range missile launchers, Iranian media reported on Sunday.

Defense Minister Gen. Ahmad Vahidi was quoted as saying the new weapon systems give Iranian forces the ability to "crush the enemy" with the simultaneous launching of long-range surface-to-surface missiles, according to Fars, the semi-official Iranian news agency.

The report did not specify the type of missile that would be fired, or provide details on the number of launchers allegedly deployed.

Iran’s military does possess surface-to-surface missiles that are capable of traveling over 2,000 kilometers (1,200 miles), able to reach of targets inside Israel and US bases in the region.

Vahidi did not specify who was the "enemy," and emphasized that Iran would never start a war.

Although Tehran occasionally announces military achievements that cannot be independently verified – like the claim it developed a state-of-the-art stealth drone capable of evading enemy radar – they come in the face of relentless external pressure.

Only last year, as the United Nations slapped Tehran with another round of harsh sanctions, Iran threatened to shut down the Strait of Hormuz, through which 18 million barrels of oil flows every day – roughly 35 percent of the world’s total. Any disruption of this supply route would have a huge impact on oil prices, and by extension the global economy.

The stand-off resulted in a tense military parade as the US sent three full US carrier groups, each accompanied by dozens of support vessels and carrying more aircraft than the entire Iranian air force, to participate in the Hormuz exercises. Tehran watched with apprehension as the fleet came and went.

Earlier this month, another US-led naval drill began in the Persian Gulf in a second such display of maritime strength in less than a year. The exercises involved 35 ships, 18 unmanned submarines and unmanned aircraft.

At the same time, Washington has been engaged in constructing a European missile defense system that it says will protect Europe from a “rogue state” missile attack.

In September, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu exhorted the UN General Assembly to draw "a clear red line" to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

The hawkish government of Likud leader Netanyahu has said in the past that “all of the options are on the table” – a thinly disguised remark suggesting military action – in order to halt Iran’s nuclear research.

These fears are shared by the US and EU who have imposed severe sanctions targeting Iran’s oil sectors against the Persian country, and by many other nations across the globe.

Tehran has rejected the allegations, arguing that it is developing its nuclear capabilities for purely civilian purposes, and demanding that the world acknowledge its right to peaceful nuclear research.

Well things are really heating up in the middle east are they not? Seems that several countries are moving military assets to make use of them in any upcoming conflict.

Also, news of an explosion in Israel, a rocket attack from Lebanon:

So if something does happen, it is going to be a powder keg. One thing for sure, if it does, you better have a tank full of gas cause prices will skyrocket.

Define "Massive"??? I don't think they have enough to be strategically a game changer. I may be wrong, but I think you have to fuel the Rockets on those launchers and they can't stay fueled very long. I will need to see more details on this.

Iran Has Hacked US Energy Companies

According to the WSJ, Iran has hacked US oil, gas and power companies. The hackers were able to gain access to control-system software "that could allow them to manipulate oil or gas pipelines". Basically, the hackers are far enough inside that people are starting to get worried.

US officials say that these break ins from Iranian hackers are like reconnaissance missions for Iran. They're gathering information on the operations of energy companies and figuring out how to "disrupt or destroy them in the future"

Apparently they can't.

no wonder they are only a "semi-official" news agency!

Here are 2 quotes from the article provided that I think are important:

---------------------------------------------------------------------
"Iran’s military does possess surface-to-surface missiles that are capable of traveling over 2,000 kilometers (1,200 miles), able to reach of targets inside Israel and US bases in the region."

"The stand-off resulted in a tense military parade as the US sent three full US carrier groups, each accompanied by dozens of support vessels and carrying more aircraft than the entire Iranian air force, to participate in the Hormuz exercises. Tehran watched with apprehension as the fleet came and went."

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok...the way I see it if Iran want's to flex their (long range missile muscles)...the United States is more than ready for them.

Well, hopefully this amounts to nothing, however, my worry is that this could be just another ingredient added to the explosive mix that is the Middle East right now. How many more ingredients can be added until things explode in our faces?

The Associated Press, Tehran -

An Iranian semi-official news agency reports the country has fielded a “massive” number of new long-range missile launchers.

The Sunday report by Fars quotes Defense Minister Gen. Ahmad Vahidi as saying the new weapons enable Iranian forces to “crush the enemy” with the mass simultaneous fire of long-range surface-to-surface missiles.

The report did not specify the type of missile that would be fired, nor more details on the number of launchers deployed.

Some of Iran's surface-to-surface missiles are estimated to have ranges of over 2,000 kilometers (1,200 miles), capable of hitting its arch-foe Israel and the U.S. bases in the region.

Vahidi did not specify who was the “enemy” and said Iran would never start a war.

From time to time Iran announces military achievements that cannot be independently verified

Take a look at what went down with north korea recently,.
lil kim stomps his little feet and the world leaders tell him to knock it off

This is the same thing with Iran, they are a nation of threats, and that is the bulk of it
Yes there is conflict in the region,. but nothing will amount from it that is world threatening

disagree. global economy / oil; everything that happens in that part of the world reverberates.
and anything involving Israel, may well escalate to invoving us.

imho the Muslims in the region are trying to separate the US from Israel, and there is a growing number of pols in the US that will go along with that. I suspect they are using carrot (oil) and stick (missiles) to coax us to abandon Israel, which could mean sitting idly by while a Muslim alliance attempts to remove Israel once and for all.
there's a LOT of folks in that part of the world that will not rest until Israel is gone.

I would asume that the Launchers which they Fielded have missiles to go on them, but tthe production of missiles has had a few setbacks in Iran lately, with the head of the program, and a few of his co horts blown back to Allah, blessed be his name.....
The missile facility must have sustained damages as well....
Then thees the counter hacking....
Do the iranians know for certain their missiles are properly programmed?
Lots of deep cyber stuff going down in iran, from the enrichment machines to rock and roll blaring out of their computer systems un bidden at full volume...WTF?

Israel, flew into Syria and destroyed their Nuclear plant, an act of War,and no Repercussions.

Israel, now threatens to fly into Iran to destroy their Nuclear plant, an act of War, Their Will Be Repercussions.

I don't Israel will do this. Their fear(s) drive them to some rash decisions when it comes to some of their adversaries in the region, but they (Israel) must know that an attack on Iran will probably bring Russia into the mix. Then the US will have to get in; the US and its allies will be pulled in to a war that will end all wars.

The American Gov has sworn Full Support for Israel, this is well Known.

But when Push comes to Shove, the US will NOT go Head to Head with Russia, nor will Russia over Iran.

Our Politicans may be Israels Bitches, But No America means No Need for Politicans.

And these Scumbags like being Politicans.

The Answer to your Statement is :

Israel will Do whatever is Good for Israel, Regardless of the Fallout to any other Country, Including the US.
