(Reuters) - British counter-terrorism police arrested a man at the BBC's headquarters after an interviewee said that security services tried to recruit one of the two suspects in the murder of a soldier in London.

Woolwich attack: MI5 'offered job to suspect

A man identified by the BBC as Abu Nusaybah told its flagship news program "Newsnight" that intelligence officers had approached Adebolajo six months ago to see if he would work for them as an informant. He said Adebolajo had refused.

BBC reporter Richard Watson, who conducted the interview, said police were waiting to arrest Nusaybah after the interview had finished on Friday. The pre-recorded interview was broadcast later that evening.

London's Metropolitan Police said counter-terrorism officers had arrested a 31-year-old man at 2030 GMT (4.00 P.M. EDT) on "suspicion of the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism".

And down the rabbit hole we go.

The two terrorists who tried to behead a British solider were reported to be known to MI6 intelligence services and now when more news of the MI6 connection is revealed the British police are arresting these "whistle blowers" under suspicion of terrorist activity? Wtf?

When governments do things like this it only fuels the conspiracy fire!

Indeed. It's not looking good, is it? Goodness knows what they'll be doing to him - they could be torturing the guy for all we know.

Personally, I still don't believe that the governments (or any government in fact) actually works solely for the people - as they're actually supposed to, as per their elected mandate.

For many people, the first thought with regards to many incidents is "was the government involved?"

9/11 was the big one for the US, 7/7 for the UK.

This incident is no exception.

For example, these supposedly "crazed" attackers were so "out of their minds" that they engaged in some normal polite conversation after the fact:

"These two guys were crazed. They were just not there. They were just animals."

Ok.

Afterward, the men appeared to want to be filmed, with one of the attackers going over to a bus and asking people to take photos of him as if he wanted to be on TV.

Thats weird.

Then, a man with a cleaver and knife in his bloody hands "came straight to me (and) said, 'No, no, no, it's cool. I just want to talk to you.'"

God only knows what's become of him at the moment. Is he being held by UK police or, since he is being brought up on terrorism charges, has MI6 taken him away? I wonder if he's been allowed to contact anyone, like a lawyer.

Exactly, and it's all seems to be coming more and more obvious so I wonder when the dam is gonna break. What's it gonna take for everyone, or at least a strong majority, to see what's happening and to call out these criminal gov'ts on their BS?

IMO the grabbing of this BBC whistle blower has more to do with the intelligence agency protecting its turf, they don't want people interfering with their information gathering even if it costs lives. Cases like this prove that the lines between intelligence gathering and the protecting the public need to be redrawn. another case is the recent arrest of terrorists in Canada after the Boston bombing. The police in Canada had investigated those terrorists for over two years and were ready to arrest them more than a year ago. But at the request of US intelligence they held back. But after the Boston bombings, Public officials in Canada and the police had had enough and chose protection of the public over intelligence gathering. There was a public statement about this sometime back and when I read it, it all became clear on how intelligence gathering has overridden public safety. the idea also suggests that the drills we see during attacks are the result of intelligence gathering run amok and actually endangering public safety.

That is the problem here. Intelligence agencies sit back and let terrorists plan disasters and probably let the disasters happen in some cases. They look and listen for connections between people and groups. While police agencies are charged with protecting the public. Unfortunately for the public, Intelligence gathering is higher up the national security food chain than lowly police work involving protecting the public. The numerous attacks from 9/11 till today where it has been shown that intelligence agencies have had contact with or knew about the terrorists before the attack proves that the line between intelligence gathering and protecting the public needs to be redrawn back towards protecting the public. Letting innocent people die to "protect a source" or to gather information is not acceptable and it begs the question, when does waiting to see what happens cross over and become aiding and abetting a terrorist act.

Frankly I don't give a damn. This scumbag murdered a British solider in broad daylight in my capital city. We don't have capital punishment in this country but he can at least stand trial for treason and then spend his days in the darkest deepest hole in the prison system. And NEVER EVER let out. They can throw away the keys as far as I am concerned.

The UK's biggest danger todayis that the BBC & MI5 have been taking on staff the last 4 years that do simply hate British people, how do I know? well 2 years ago I rang the BBC to warn them about the type of thing we sadly see in London the last week, I wanted to speak to a person who would listen to me warning that danger was coming to UK, she put the phone down on me calling me a Muslim hater, it was not true but being from that race she refused to listen.

I rang MI5 up and waned them that the BBC have got a terror cell within it, but again on the phone I was speaking to a none British person, she told me that I was wrong telling them about a person I was concerned about in Norwich the day I see it happen. Then a day later I rang MI5 again, told them what I had seen and he said why did you not call us yesterday, which I then told him I had rang.
Now it turns out MI5 did know about the troopers killers, and had known of them for years, so MI5 are turning a blind eye to danger for us.
These type of things should not give British white people much comfort because now I have found that by terrorists infiltrating government departments it was the main reason the Home Office removed law abiding peoples guns and weapons so the public are NOT able to fight back when attacked.

I think you got 2 people confused for as being one the same. Obviously no one gives a crap about the 2 men who murdered and tried to behead a man in the streets of the UK in broad day light.

Interesting and I can see why people would be suspicions upon reading this but if you think about it a little further it might make some sense.

For the police to arrest him after having said that his mate was approached by MI5 makes them look bad and that would be no point in them arresting him for that because he has already let the cat out of the bag. We know that these dudes who hacked this poor guy up were associated with individuals with extreme views and it is entirely possible that this man who was arrested was one of those individuals.

If MI5 were hassling this guy then no wonder he got mad.

No, the government is not for the people, I don't recall an overwhelming support for wars in Iraq or Afghanistan, the people never chose that, the people in power did.

This is the United Kingdom, not Saudi Arabia or some derelict African backwater. If we begin the "eye for an eye" approach again, we'll simply devolve and regress.

You must remember that, as horrific as these crimes were, 2013 is a much much more civilized time than several centuries ago, even in the most poorest and barbaric places today.

The very fact that we are shocked at this crime and calling it "horrific" is testament to the above - in the past, people wouldn't have even batted any eye and would have gone about their daily business as such would have been commonplace.

Get real, the minute you put on a military uniform, you are a combatant, no matter where you are. Tough luck on the soldier and his family but the U.K. needs to take a really good look at it's foreign policy

Additionally, I'd say using drones is quite cowardly also.

There are several anomalies about this murder anyway.
1. The internet does have censorship and video can and does get censored all the time...try finding porn on youtube for instance, maybe not impossible, but not easy. Yet the video of this black guy, doing his political bit to camera, was everywhere, all over the main stream media.
2. The policy of successive British governments has been to not give "terrorists" any air time what so ever. Does anyone recall the banning of Jerry Adams, in the media. Remember Channel 4 found a voice over guy to read word for word whatever Adams said, in order to get around the ban. So EXTREMELY strange that this video of an Islamic extremist is aired all over the mainstream media. EXTREMELY STRANGE.
3. Yes we all know everyone has a video phone, but also, EXTREMELY hard to believe that any normal person, would stand videoing a guy who has just butchered a man in the street, right in front of them, and with weapons still in his blood covered hands, up close and personal. Plausible, but it does stretch the imagination to breaking point.
4. The attackers were EXTREMELY composed and calm and able to articulate their MISSION STATEMENT clearly and coherently, for maximum publicity. Again, why would this be aired on mainstream TV, when this is exactly what the terrorists wanted..OBVIOUSLY. So knowing this is what they wanted, why then wasn't this video banned and censored??????????????
5. The attackers were ENGLISH, born and bread. I wonder what their entire backgrounds are, or are we going to get a Julian Assange story where 5-10 or more years they just disappeared and went off the radar?????
6. Cameron was out of the country. This is also UNUSUAL. Distance and separation from events always looks fishy, as with Bush on 9/11 reading to the school kids, just looked contrived and out of place, especially under the circumstances...almost like when a criminal plans a contrived alibi.

Of course they could just be Islamist nutters. But sure there is plenty to build a nice conspiracy on this one. But the M15 link just made it a whole lot more dodgy.



The obvious ramifications of airing this video can only be an attempt to start a civil war within the UK.

Methinks you are just scrapping the barrel to try and make out that this murder was something that it was not.

What we know is that two nutters, high on Islamic clap-trap apparently targeted and murdered a soldier. The two twats then (in my opinion) tried to maryr themselves by getting shot by police. Sadly for them, the police were either remarkably poor shots, or they had instuctions or the initiative to take them alive. I bet the close associates of this pair of twats are not sleeping very well, on the basis they will all be visited – in fact I have just heard on the news that it has started, so that’s thumbs up from me.

To the OP. This guy who did the interview with the BBC my be an attention seeking liar, so please don’t hang on his words as the truth. If he is telling the truth, then it would be silly not to bring him in to answer questions, because he clearly knows things.

One of the UK terrorists who killed on our London streets on Thursday had killed in UK before some years ago, Police turned a blind eye to killing because the boy he killed was British so not protected as Muslim people are here.
David Cameron now to thank our troops for what they have done in war time has said that troops should go to court and charged with murder, sorry I'm confused I was thinking Cameron was British and was caring for our side not enemy.

Which members of the government were going to be killed by the gang on it's way to Dewsbury with knives, machetes and a pipe bomb?
