Eh...in case you havn't noticed, we already have our "OWN VERSION OF THE TROUBLES" albiet on a less violent scale...But as a Nation of decent people we, The Majority, unlike the minority scum that live in the Dark ages, Have evolved past the stage of Knuckle dragging half wittery...you dont give us much credit do you.

Ps...Just read your post About you talking about the Orange Walk you attended....you do know you are sitting with some of the worst Bigots to walk the face of the Earth....Well done for finding yourself in that situation...

I'm Not far from Ardrie myself and trust me, The Majority just shake our heads and laugh at these Rednecks, because this just about sums them up..Bigoted, backwater Hicks still living in the Glory days of a Empire who's Sun set Long ago.

Now if you want a lesson in Ireland and the Troubles i suggest you do some reading first and look at it from all points of View...
Never ever take a one sided point of view on the troubles as Fact!...especially when the preachers are under the influence of "The Buckie"..

I don't give you any credit. The protestant community in the West of Scotland and central belt is enormous. They're not knuckle draggers at all and it's insulting for you to describe your own compatriots in such a way.

Tbh I don't see why you need a Frenchman to tell you what's going on in your own backyard anyway.

Take off your blinkers. And go for a Walk, preferably an Orange one.

You'll soon see which way the wind is blowing.

Oh, i know what way the wind is Blowing, I can smell them at 1000 yards and i stay well clear.
Maybe you want to look at the Nationalist view before you part with your expert testimony on Irish History.

Ps...They aint My Compatriots...I live in the now, not some fantasy land like these idiots.

Your so called protestant Community that you had the pleasure to meet this past week 90% have never been in church for Decades, if at all....dont let yourself get confused between a Religion and Bigotry.

What i smell is Hatred and intolerance...Sometimes, if we have a decent headwind, i can sniff it out at 2000 yards.

46 years here in west central Scotland, and i know more about it first hand than you could ever imagine.

Maybe we are just sick and tired of being dictated too by London, Maybe we are just sick and tired of being Dragged into pointless and Illegal Wars by Westminster, Maybe we are sick and tired of Trident on OUR Doorstep,
Maybe we are just sick and tired of Successive Tory Governments using up Scotland's Resources to float London, Privatising ever single piece of infrastructure they can get their greedy hands on and Corrupt toffee nosed, Cambridge and Oxford educated politicians taking as much as they can grab in the Heist ...

I'm looking forward to reading all the posts from proud Scottish-Americans in this thread. Don't forget to tell us which clan you belong to.

Scottish independence will not happen and is basically unsustainable. That's the simple truth.

Your arrogance sets a new standard by which Scottish nationalists may be measured. You're exactly in that same frame of mind as your equivalents in Northern ireland.

Twisted, bitter, despising your neighbours, arrogant ... you call others snobs, yet yours is the one with your nose in the air. It's people like you, with your windy rhetoric, who will lose Scotland a yes vote. You don't even make an attempt to engage with those with whom you disagree. You just blame it "on London" and speak ill of ordinary decent people who just happen to value and respect things with which you disagree.

You're & your type are losing Scotland the independence debate hands down.

And you just can't handle it.

Don't bother voting Yes next year. This Frenchman's voting No.

Your vote won't count #stayinbed

You do realise the Tories were out of power for over a decade and that it was labour that spent and borrowed us into our current financial hole? It was labour that used taxpayer money to bail out all the zombie banks (of which RBS is one of the smelliest zombies), you do realise the brain trust in charge of the economy then were scots?

No nationality has a monopoly on stupidity or corruption.

You can moan about the unfairness of the tories in the 80s in the same way as you can moan about the stupidity and irresponsibility of the union leadership in the 1970s that made it possible.

If you expect politics to get better or that the people at the top will stop acting in their own best interests against yours you are mistaken. A different group will get power and profit from it.

All independence will do is pile a whole load more problems on top.

We wont convince each other and conversations like this will occur all up and down scotland. Even when its over the loser (whomever that is) wont forgive the winner so I see years of discord whatever the outcome.

Voters with your twisted, Bitter, Arrogant, Narrow mind viewpoint, educated at the School For The "Queen and Country, good ol Boys" Can stay in bed,
So you go Cuddle your Butchers Apron and your Billy Bear and hope it was all just a Bad dream.....

The Loyalist (not to be confused with Protestantism) is in a bad paranoid delusional trip. A bad trip that they are being pushed into the sea....
Well here's the facts. They are pushing themselves to extinction because they have the inability to change and move on into the 21st Century..they've still to evolve into Cro-magnon man for Christ sake, and that;s just the wimmin.

Google is your friend here.

Here's an overview though...

The principal problem with Scottish independence, however, is that Scotland is heavily subsidised by the rest of the Union. Public sector employment is disproportionately high compared to private tax revenue, and industry is poor. Even the much vaunted gas and oil is drawn from the ground through mixed-national investment.

There's no good reason for Scotland to claim full mineral rights when non-Scottish money has been used to invest in the systems, equipment and legislation required to make the industry viable.

And that's before you get to issues such as EU membership, currency and defence etc.

Scots deserve their referendum, and are free to go their own way, but it'd be like turkeys voting for Christmas.

Pardon my nose here.I am Scottish by heritage and I would like to understand something here.Is there a division in Scotland like Ireland? You guys aren't going to SHOOT are you?
Also I would suggest Scotland devise a foreign legion. Men from many countries would love citizenship there, that would take care of your army issues.

Oh, not at all - the relationship between the Scottish and the rest of the Union is generally very strong. There's certainly no suggestion or prospect of violence.

Independence is simply the entirely legitimate question of whether Scotland should be an independent nation from the UK, and whether it would be better or worse off as a result.

Problem is, Scotland and the rest of the UK is highly connected economically, socially etc etc so it's not a question that has a clear answer.

It's a fully legitimate matter, imo, and as an Englishman I support the Scot's right to choose. I think the UK and Scotland would both be worse off if devolved though, but they're certainly entitled to self determination.
