The estimated jackpot for Saturday's Powerball drawing has swelled to a record $600 million for the popular lottery game, but one official estimated today that if it goes unclaimed the prize would zoom to nearly $1 billion.

abcnews.go.com...

Holy cow, what a prize that would be!!!!!!

We were in a state that sold the powerball last week and got some tickets.
[unsure if we won any thing yet]
But now we are in a state that doesn't sell them.
Bummer.......

That would have been a great belated birthday present.......

Oh well, if no one wins this weekend, we will be back in LA to get some more next week.

Shoot, I'd like to win a small prize, like say $50,000-$100,00 or so.
That sure would come in handy right now!!!!!

I will be winning it on $aturday. How could i use the money to benefit the conspiracy theorist world?

I'm thinking about opening up a nationwide organic food store and driving gmo foods out of businesse

I can't help but wonder.....how many losing tickets are required to form that large a winning one? It's an interesting thing to throw an occasional $20 into though. Who knows... someone has to win.

I equate winning the lottery to using cheat codes in video games. It's fun at first, but in the long run it just makes the game boring. Eh, what the heck. I've never bought a lottery ticket before, maybe I should give it a shot

Exactly....some one has to win.
And you don't have a chance if you don't buy a ticket [if you're in a state that sells them]

Since they went up to $2 a ticket, the jackpot doesn't take long to add up.

We spent $20 last week, but on this large of pot, we might go $40-60 if no one wins tonight.
Hey, it don't hurt to try.....

Is it legal for me to start an online worldwide lottery? Could be a neat idea

I will be buying a ticket or two this weekend. It says Powerball is $360 mil in Texas. Anyway, if I did win, I'd give 90% away to people I want to have it. Mo money, mo problems

You want to win the half billion? The numbers will be 6-21-34-36-41 powerball 4 (are there six numbers in the first part? If so, 30))and, of course, if the numbers win, I expect a cut of the pie, a piece of the action, a taste). But seriously, what a waste of money, and when "they" doubled the price a year or so ago and people kept "buying" the nothingness that is being sold, people in charge laughed and laughed and laughed.

I have my ticket for Saturday.

If we were to win, a big chunk would be donated for autoimmune research.
We could easily live off a much smaller amount then the big winning.
And that way the money would go to help a lot of people ...

But watch .. someone will win who will blow it on crap.

There was a woman in town here who won $100,000 a few years back.
She rented a limo with a roof window and went around town yelling
'I won the lottery'.

Reports say she blew through it in something like a month ....

It was hers to blow ... I know ....

But I can't help but think of how, if she had been more careful with the
money, she wouldn't still be living in the inner city and be just scraping by.

I purchased one ticket.
It is only about 1/3 of the price of a pack of cigarettes...and I only buy one when it gets over 200 large. Big whup. $2. For a dream, rather than $6 a shot at a chance for cancer

Yep, you're exactly right...about a majority blowing their winnings.
Some have claimed it brought family problems too.

We met a couple several years ago that won the Louisiana lottery for $16 million I believe it was.
The lady wrote a check for some stuff she bought from us and when I asked her for her work number, she hesitated and said that she was sorta unemployed.
I caught on to her shyness and I said "Sorta unemployed?"
That's when she told us that her and her husband won the lottery.

Of course, my husband and I were eager to hear her story and she told us, if we were ever to win, wait before you turn in the ticket.
First, change your phone number. She said they had to change their number several times. People from all over come out of the woodwork......not to mention relatives you didn't know you had.
Then get you an army of lawyers/accountants.
They had formed a corporation by including their parents, I believe for tax purposes.
They waited nearly a month before they claimed their prize, once they got their ducks in a row.

She admitted that emotionally, they were kinda sick that first week or 2 when reality set in that they were instant millionaires.

We all kid from time to time about what we would do if we won, I think most of us know deep down we never will...
BUT...................what if?

The most I ever won was $100....
Usually it's nothing or $3-7 bucks
