Leave the Mother in Law behind if you go to Africa!

WITCHES flying broomsticks in Swaziland above 150 metres will be subject to arrest and a hefty fine of R500,000, civil aviation authorities said, according to a report.

Witches’ broomsticks are considered similar to any heavier-than-air transportation device that is airborne, reports The Star.

“A witch on a broomstick should not fly above the [150-metre] limit,” Civil Aviation Authority marketing and corporate affairs director Sabelo Dlamini is quoted as saying by the newspaper.

Finally! A place to retire where the in laws can't reach me!
Seriously though, more evidence of government spending money on ridiculous things.

They are still allowed to fly below 150 metres, so maybe the Mother in Law can come.

Still not enough to submit hmm? I think the story is pretty self evident, and I have provided my comments and observations on it.....Why do witches fly on brooms? Because vacuum cleaners are too heavy.......maybe wrong forum?
Anyways, enjoy.

Yea thing is witchcraft is rife over there. Its real serious stuff with rituals and horrendous acts of murder. Having said that, I would like to see how many people have been charged!!

Religious laws are idiotic.

We have them in the States too.

Can't buy alcohol on Sunday in Minnesota because "That's God's day."

So, if I travel to Swaziland, I will actually be able to fly on my broomstick?
I'm there!

And I'm not even anyone's mother in law!

In Saskatchewan, when I was younger, no stores were open on Sundays...as far as I can remember. What a crazy law!

Swazi witches are known to use [brooms] to fling potions about homesteads – but not for transport.

(from your link)

Oh, well that law seems a bit pointless now...

I'm sure God had a beer or two after creating the Universe.

S&F for the title, lol! I love crazy laws. You really have to wonder why they were put in place. I suppose wondering is part of the fun.

Yes, I caught that too, but was confused about it. Are they flying their brooms over 150 metres high, just to rain down a glorious potion filled day on people, or are they using their brooms like a lacrosse stick flinging the potions up over 150 metres? lol

ps- I'm sure God gets pass out drunk everyday when he sees what we are doing.

I used to love looking up weird and looney laws when I was a kid and try to figure out how in the world they decided to pass laws like that!

Its probably been made law to appease the people. I know we can laugh about it but people are genuinely scared of witchcraft in Africa. This law probably eases there fears a little. Its a strange world for sure!....(Unless the mother in laws over there are real trouble)...Having said that my mother in law is nice...its my soon to be ex wife whats the problem!

What if you ran your RC airplane into a witch on a broom flying below 150 meters on a Sunday?

Dunno, but potion flinging sounds a lot more dangerous than flying above 150m. Swaziland needs its priorities straight.
