Congratulations!

But a 10k isn't a marathon, it's about 5miles.
A marathon is 26.2 miles or a bit more than a 50km.

But still, it's always good to be active, regardless of how far you are running

That's right, it's not a Marathon.
A Marathon is exactly 42,195 km or 26,22 miles, if you are interested why
en.wikipedia.org...

OP , congratulations, I wish you all the best for your Run. Have much Fun.
Respect that you can run for 5 miles, i think the most of us cannot.
Oh sorry, you can run 6,21 miles , even more........ how long did you trained to get there ?

I'm doing my first marathon in October.
Hopefully I don't hurt myself before then.

Congrats on your entry. You will enjoy it im sure. The worst bit of running for me seems the first couple of miles. It always seems hard!. Ever been through "The Wall"?.. When you go through that you feel you could run for ever

Congrats?

I never will understand this idea of "running for fun"..but more power to you.

Ignore all those decrying 10K as some kind of short distance. Have THEY ever done it? I did a 5K once as part of a work function, and that was enough for me to decide I am not a runner.
