It seems Pope Francis is following the new anarchist movement which started with french revolution and is currently being pushed by Anonymous.

Are you saying that as a sarcastic or matter-of-fact tone?

I mean, Christians are not all supporters of the Vatican. In fact, most of the christians I met opposed the Vatican.

"The Vatican isnt ruled by money its ruled by the love and charity of catholics."

In my opinion the Vatican is ruled by the Jesuits. And money plays its part regardless.

Maybe the Vatican should start paying taxes or open up their coffers to the needy folk in the world.

I reached for the reply button and hit quote instead because this really does some it up.

Its completely and utterly hypocritical and ironic to come out with this stuff.

Like how the 'people' who dont have sex, telling everyone who does have sex, how to have sex.

"Say religious things from your official religious position Mr Pope, leave the real world problems for real world people and get back to studying all the texts written by man on your sky pixie that no one has ever seen or has any evidence of that exists, thanks" - from me to the pope.

They worship things of brass and gold and iron. They violate the ten commandments. They molest children deep in the Vatican dungeons. They are interested in UFOs more than Ufologists. They have the most powerful telescope on earth called the Lucifer telescope (LUCIFER = Large Binocular Telescope Near-infrared Utility with Camera and Integral Field Unit for Extragalactic Research). I could care less who the Pope is. He is not God and he never will be. I have nothing against Catholics for I believe we are all somewhat deceived (The Great Deception) but I will never bow down to a man who exalts himself above God. Oh yeah, I forgot, they also helped smuggle the Nazis to Argentina and the United States in an underground system. They play the two faced game and they promote ecumenism. Something doesnt and never will smell right with this post version of the Holy Roman Empire.

Vatican finance is a difficult subject, but it's not impossible to get a rough feel for it. May I suggest to those who feel so very strongly about it, that they invest a little time in learning about the subject?

For example, the idea that the Vatican is taking huge sums from impoverished believers throughout the world. It has been pointed out that this money is not "taken," it is donated. But we are not talking about vast sums, either.

Contributions from dioceses amounted to just $32 million in 2011, up from $27 million in 2010 and $31.5 million in 2009.

The Peter's Pence collection, used by the pope for charity and emergency assistance, brought in $69.7 million, up from $67.7 million in 2010, but down from $82.5 million in 2009.
Thirty-two million dollars from dioceses? That's all? that's equivalent to less than fifty cents per year from each American Catholic. And the total of $100 million? That's about a dime from each of the world's Catholics.
ncronline.org...

As I pointed out earlier, the Vatican is not sitting on vast resources either. It sees it's art treasures as a gifts to the Church over hundreds of years, and itself as only the custodian of them for all humanity.

Oh, and the LUCIFER telescope? Actually it's just the cameras that have been nicknamed that. Beside the obvious meaning of "light bringer," there is a second reason for the name.

“There is indeed a hidden dedication, which includes a pun that is far from obvious to outsiders, and which is related to the ‘popular’ identification of Lucifer with the devil,” he said.

The lead institution for the construction of the LUCIFER spectrographs is the Observatory of the German State of Baden-Württemberg, which is now part of Heidelberg University, he explained. When a German partnership was formed to join Arizona’s Large Binocular Telescope project, funding became problematic. At that point, then-Prime Minister of Baden-Württemberg Erwin Teufel stepped in and ensured state funding was available.

“Now, as it happens, the name of this governor is Teufel, which is the German word for ‘devil,‘” Quirrenbach explained. “Again, absolutely no offense to anyone; this is a fairly common name in Germany. So to those familiar with the local state politics in Southwest Germany, it is plainly obvious that the two Lucifer instruments are named in honor of Teufel, who helped the state observatory become a member of the LBT.”

This is why they needed Pope Francis and why people are excited to see what changes he will make. Things do change, you know. He is bringing change. To what extent, we'll have to wait and see.

I am not Catholic or even Christian, and I would never worship a pontiff (it's blasphemy by Christian belief anyway.) I just like seeing a Jesuit get in and saying the right things. Positive change is good.

Well, it's not like I can disagree with what he's saying. Because I do agree with it. But, as others have stated, this means one of three things.

1. He's gonna try to do the right thing and get killed for it.

or

2. He's doing his part to soften us up for the NWO.

or

3. He's spouting empty platitudes that everyone in the world with any power will promptly ignore.

Lose. Lose. Lose.

The only way we're gonna free ourselves from this....death spiral into hell is to remove our leaders from power and take it for ourselves. They aren't going to go quietly, which will mean war. There really is no way around this.

Or, we can just keep letting them oppress us until we're actually living in 1984. It's our choice I guess.

Sure I think we can all agree the end of 'tyranny of money' is great..

.. But if we could just end money as a whole, we'd all be equal again.

But then we'd all be forced to focus on how we treat each other... and we can't have that now can we!

This is a bit disconcerting.

Sounds like Pope Francis is advocating some form of communism.

I don't know what else to assume when he holds "free market capitalism" as the responsible party, even though it was Free Market Capitalism (which deserves to be capitalized!) which raised the standard of living of humankind, raising billions out of poverty, and providing a mechanism which encourages economic and scientific development.

John Mackey, the CEO of Whole Foods Market, wrote an interesting book called "Conscious Capitalism". In short, the problem isn't Free Market Capitalism; as the de-facto growth factor behind civilization, it deserves to be called ethical. Rather, the problem is crony capitalism, lack of awareness for the environment, and most of all, the principle that monetary profit should be a corporations main purpose. This was the position advocated by Milton Friedman, Von Mises and Hayek, and many other market capitalists. Like Mackey, I think this is a negative approach, inasmuch as it provides an imprimatur for a host of destructive policies.

Capitalism, like a human being, can become conscious of itself. We know the system works, what we need to do know is fix those areas which cause societal and environmental problems. Mackey has great suggestions for how to do this, calling upon Viktor Frankls notion that man is more motivated by a search for meaning that by anything else.

A corporation that takes care of it's employees, that fosters an environment that induces value-growth, is likely to prove more profitable long term, than a "turnover" policy which sees profit as the be all end all.

I highly recommend this book, most of all, to Pope Francis.

There is nothing more enervating to personal liberty than socialist economics.

Does this mean that the Catholic Church is going to start paying taxes?

Are they going to disburse their vast wealth among the people of the world who would benefit?

Or is this just another meaningless speech from a man who dresses like Liberace and is completely disconnected from his fellow man in every way possible?

I think you guys are being way to hard on him. We've never in our lifetimes had a pope say the things he says. He turned down the mansion as cardinal, and turned down the mansion as pope. He really is living by his words and the words of Jesus, even if the church as a whole has become corrupted and greedy over time.

This may just be the opening salvo in some real reform of the church. Maybe he will try to open the coffers and offer up the wealth of the church to charity. He's hardly been pope for a few months, so I think it's a bit early to claim it's all an act.

In my opinion he's the best pope we've had based on these statements, even if they're merely words at this point.

You clearly haven't been paying attention. He doesn't dress in the full papal garb, but has instead opted for a much more humble attire. He also kept himself connected to his fellow man in Argentina by living in lower class neighborhoods with other priests when he could have lived in a giant mansion due to his status as cardinal. He also turned down the massive living quarters he has access to as pope.

We finally get a pope who is different and seems to want to put a new face and message out from the church and everyone acts like he's guilty of all the past sins of the church.

I'm not a christian, but he's been a breath of fresh air in my opinion, and I have a feeling you'll all warm up to him in time. Let's see what actions he takes before we judge him as hypocritical.

i applaud you, charles, for bringing in reason to a thread, even though the position is contrary to popular belief.

the vatican does have it's hands in money, tax evasion, and nefarious deeds, but they are not all that way and there are plenty of other organizations who own more money and land.

it's slightly disturbing how your post has been largely ignored.

I got an idea why don't they stop accepting donations to the church since they are adding to this suffering.

Decided to add something else while i was thinking about it why would a new pope set this agenda all the things he could get in to he picks capitalism. Really look at it this way If he really wanted to make a difference stand out be noticed he could tackle problems in the middle east by reaching out to Muslims around the world. Or promoting helping 3rd world countries or set up humanitarian missions to help the starving in Africa. Set a mandate to help the environment but he chooses capitalism. I could even see if he talked about government's oppression of their people then maybe mention taxes heck that's at least something. But if there was no capitalism, at least for now we would be in real trouble because money is the only way to trade labor for goods.

The article is a pure distortion of the truth jammed with subliminal messages to undermine the pope, because of his nationality. The author calls him "The argentinian Pope" when he should always be called by his official name "Pope Francis" I don't ever recall reading any news articles in which any other pope is called by his nationality. Example Pope Benedict XVI was never called "The German Pope". The author Nick Squires is a total moron who uses sensationalist journalism to the limit. Statements such as "The pope has attacked" and the constant "He said" "He said" "He said" make this journalist a true master in "stirring the pot" = Getting people to fight.

For an accurate report of the speech go to the vatican's website www.vatican.va...

It's a great speech and, its finally great to see that the pope has acknowledged the need to end the slavery.

Pay taxes, and let's see the Vatican Bank's records from the 1980s.
Not so clean, huh?

I fail to see how anything he says has any bearing on life at all.
He doesn't matter in the slightest.
