I don't know if this is the right place to post this or not, but it is a news story just local. I find it interesting that they are not only allowed to vote on something in a meeting without the publics input considering they are local government officials.

Also I find it interesting that there is such secrecy around who it is and why we are giving them so much money for a measly 52 jobs.

I thought I would share and see if anyone can find anything else on it or share some insights on what you think. If this is the wrong place feel free to move it.

A Mystery! All I found searching for Project X was a movie and a consulting firm in Canada.

I originally thought it had something to do with Space X.

“We are not trying to be create a mystery here. We’re fortunate to have several economic development projects underway, but this is a fragile situation,” said County Manager Wanda Greene. “It’s critical to treat this project with the confidentiality that this company requires.”

If it requires that much privacy it does make you wonder maybe start a new thread on this with a better headline

But once again we the people get stuck with it, our tax dollars hard at work, and no answers given.

Taxpayers will foot the bill for a land swap and a multimillion dollar incentive package for an unnamed manufacturer to bring 52 new jobs to Buncombe County.

Sounds like a for profit detention center; otherwise know as a JAIL.

Hmmm, well that leaves me with a bad taste in the mouth for sure. So much for transparency indeed. Either it's a. something that the public would not want in their neighborhood (ie potentially harmful) or b. a defense contractor of some sort. 52 jobs @ $40k a year with millions in incentives? Probably a defense contractor and hence the secrecy. Like the comment below the article that states "where there is no sunshine, it's shady". Absolutely agreed with that guy.

This is the MOST transparent thing ANY gubment has done!!! You can't "see" a thing! LOL

I think it's a sex toy manufacturer, or possibly a viagra plant. The whole building will be built under the cloak of "Unidentifiable Packaging" for the privacy of the customer. 52 employees @ 40k/year to help us "good americans" lead a "Happy productive life"

If it were my county, I'd be rallying for full disclosure and threatening the careers of my reps for even thinking the people would allow it.

Sadly it may be related to this:

Yahoo news: Auto dealers push law blocking Tesla sales in North Carolina

This would makes sense in that a city wouldn't want a community to know that a company might be moving in. While on the other hand the city wouldn't want the state to know that they are setting up a deal for Tesla to move in.
