I need a source, man.
Because honestly, I cannot envision an insurance company POSSIBLY saying that they will have to keep raising rates unless Gov steps in and makes it mandatory for them to insure EVERYONE.

That makes zero business sense from an insurance standpoint.
Zero

Just look at the original information. It is out there everywhere if you look for it. If you only want to see what you want to see than you will not find it.

Even a lot of the Republicans knew this increase was coming, the only reason they were against Obamacare is that it had an overall negative effect on small businesses. I agree that the Republicans concerns were real, being a small business owner and having another expense to worry about if I start the business back up again.

I presume the rates started to go up about the time we elected a socialist first go around.

Forcing people to buy insurance from capitalist companies as nothing at all to do with socialism...
hell it's not even capitalist to force to buy anything at all!!

I just can't be planned, it's obvious that companies would jack-up their prices if people are forced to get insurance, it's not like they can't communicate and set minimum pricing, they have all cards!

America will fear sickness more than death, a country that doesn't deserve to be in the first world countries with such a fraudulent medical system.

You are right about this being a capitalistic thing. It is by far not socialism.

It's not free-market Capitalism. It would be Fascism if anything.

The Repubs had quite a few more objections than that. Especially a decrease is the efficiency of care, rationing of care, and care taken from the hands of doctors and patients to be dictated by bureaucrats. Last but not least, the massive expansion of a central Federal government to include confiscation of 1/6th of the economy.

To be honest, the media is quite free round here. Local political news might be more biased, although outer news are very free in the sense, not biased.

News portals are popular.

Anyone who wants to can write an article which is published in a section.

Although even official journalists of the biggest local news portal take on different conspiracy theories (not to debunk). Usually they just want to get more clicks, comments. For example. after the Boston bombings there was an article questioning whether it is false flag - coverup. There have been innumerous articles about 9/11 conspiracy, global warming - hoax or not? It is common to talk about conspiracy theories.

The national television has shown lots of conspiracy movies - from Zeitgeist to different other famous ones, whether about Illuminati, bankers, 9/11 etc.

The media is overally very free round here, I have not noticed much being left out about what is happening in the world. I take most of my news I post here from there.

I know several people working in newspapers as journalists. There are pretty much no restrictions.

Obamacare has come through the media a lot of times, analysing it. There are many different opinion, both negative and positive, although the overall shade is more positive. Probably due to the fact that here is universal healthcare and the current US insurance systems seems as a joke for many, no offense. There have been many stories about local tourists/American friends having to pay huge medical bills and the numbers are extreme compared to here, where nobody has to worry about such medical bills.

Well...it's one step closer to a general public that actually starts to realize they're getting screwed by the people in charge & one little push closer to pissing off enough people that something actually gets done about it.

I have a hunch in a few years it'll become commonly accepted for people to take the penalty on taxes (what is it - $400? $600? I don't remember) because they can't afford a policy and then we're right back where we started...

Except now the government is taking even more money out of your pocket & your premiums are even higher - face it, if you don't have health insurance now then you'll probably never be able to afford it

Leave it up to the government to screw things up worse than they already are - the sad thing is everybody knows it & even jokes about it but for some reason we keep giving them more control & power

That's why the IRS has hired around (for us, Neo) 30,000 more agents, and they've
always been armed.
But now forget p'd off: they're also the ones backed up at your door by DHS; and
those nice shiny new 'personal defense weapons'... that sound suspiciously like
REAL select-fire assault weapons.
Why do 97.5 % of the threads I post on about "wealth redistribution" look tame
compared to armed robbery by the government? I guess the aware of us shearlings
will have to get the prescriptions jacked up... I feel a shard of reality in my gruel.

you guys are wondering why the people who support the Obamas health care legislation aren't answering?...maybe it has something to do with the OP's source...... the large insurance, and medical corporations making billions a dollars of profits off of sick people.

The Republicans had a similar plan but it was not as overly liberal. I read a little on their plan and it may have been a little better. Obama's plan goes a little overboard on allowing things that shouldn't be part of healthcare. The Republican plan was more concervative.

I'm so tired of people that have no grasp whatsoever of the fundamental difference between "profits" and "profit margins".

Example would it be fair to criticize you if you had a "profit" last year of $100,000 if it took you spending $95,000 to make that $100,000 "profit"?

(Your profit margin would be 5%)

Yeah, but then there's this:

democrats.energycommerce.house.gov.../committee-democrats-release-memorandum-criticizing-republican-staff-report-on-impact-of-the -aff

Because of these data limitations, the Republican report is inherently biased. The majority of Americans receive their coverage as part of a large-employer plan or through government health insurance programs like Medicare or Medicaid, and they are not affected by changes in the individual market. But some individuals do receive coverage in the individual market. To assess the impact of the Affordable Care Act on the out-of-pocket costs of these individuals, both the provisions that raise rates and well as those that reduce costs need to be taken into account. The Republican report fails this basic test of objectivity.

So tell me, who's right? And why?

One might ask why you think this is so funny. They might ask why you attach a funny laughing face to your post.

You have a sick sense of humor.

You are wrong re the telephone rates. It is much cheaper to make long distance calls now than it used to be.

People are going to crap bricks over this.

People will be throwing bricks over this.

(fixed it for ya)

Both of you are wrong, they won't do a thing, in fact, people are so used to fighting over scraps and playing the poor-man role that they will adjust and forget that this ever happened.

Well, it's easier to raise rates when you're benefiting from a fascist marketplace.

I’ve decided what I’m going to do. If I lose my insurance coverage because of this, I will continue to get treatment for my family when it’s needed (like normal) and I will simply refuse to pay my medical bills like 75% of the people in this country do now. I'm going to start playing the poor man role!

F-IT! I refuse to pay!

In addition, health insurers raise premiums almost every year. So, most of us realize that even without Obamacare, premiums would go up. The health insurance companies would simply blame something else for the premium increase if Obamacare didn't exist.
