Thanks forcing people to buy corporate products, and forcing business what they can or can't charge.

What more proof do people need that the current administration does not believe in a free market.

Oh and 'believing things should be free' is not the same thing.

Dude, you literally have a three way contradiction in your post, with a pro Obama plug. Is that by design?

It could be...or not.

o_O

Seriously though, we've all been hearing how rates are going to skyrocket for years now. I'm still waiting for it to happen. I'm patiently waiting to be sent to the poor house because my insurance company is making record profits.

I feel like this is 2007 all over again with the gas prices. Insane gas prices while the oil industry makes more money than any other industry in the history of the world. Unlike most people on this site, I fear private corporations more than I do the government.

Health care was going up rapidly before Obamacare. Actually, the insurance companies agreed that rates were going to go up more if Obamacare was not implemented, they had to raise the amount of people paying in to keep premiums from skyrocketing. Can't blame this on Obamacare.

I presume the rates started to go up about the time we elected a socialist first go around.

I need a source, man.
Because honestly, I cannot envision an insurance company POSSIBLY saying that they will have to keep raising rates unless Gov steps in and makes it mandatory for them to insure EVERYONE.

That makes zero business sense from an insurance standpoint.
Zero

Here's some info about those "Pre-existing" conditions rates already in effect.

Obamacare Pre-Existing Conditions Coverage: Low Enrollment, High Costs

One of Obamacare’s main selling points during the health care reform debate was the need to provide insurance coverage to those with pre-existing conditions—but like other aspects of the law, the plan is failing those it was intended to help.

Beginning in 2014, Obamacare will prohibit insurance companies from excluding anyone with a pre-existing medical condition from coverage (called guaranteed issue). Because this incentivizes people to wait until they’re sick to purchase coverage, Obamacare includes the dreaded individual mandate to force all Americans to purchase health insurance.

But these massive new insurance mandates don’t take effect until 2014, so in the meantime the law set up the pre-existing conditions insurance plan (PCIP), which funded new high-risk pools in each state, providing coverage to those with pre-existing conditions from 2010 to 2014. The PCIP was allocated $5 billion for that time frame.......

People are already getting hornschwaggeld.

Forcing people to buy insurance from capitalist companies as nothing at all to do with socialism...
hell it's not even capitalist to force to buy anything at all!!

I just can't be planned, it's obvious that companies would jack-up their prices if people are forced to get insurance, it's not like they can't communicate and set minimum pricing, they have all cards!

America will fear sickness more than death, a country that doesn't deserve to be in the first world countries with such a fraudulent medical system.

Well...it's one step closer to a general public that actually starts to realize they're getting screwed by the people in charge & one little push closer to pissing off enough people that something actually gets done about it.

I have a hunch in a few years it'll become commonly accepted for people to take the penalty on taxes (what is it - $400? $600? I don't remember) because they can't afford a policy and then we're right back where we started...

Except now the government is taking even more money out of your pocket & your premiums are even higher - face it, if you don't have health insurance now then you'll probably never be able to afford it

Leave it up to the government to screw things up worse than they already are - the sad thing is everybody knows it & even jokes about it but for some reason we keep giving them more control & power

It's fascist is what it is.

Fascism draws from all political ideologies.

Fascism (pron.: /ˈfæʃɪzəm/) is a form of radical authoritarian nationalism[1][2] that came to prominence in mid-20th century Europe. Fascists seek to unify their nation through a totalitarian state that promotes the mass mobilization of the national community,[3][4] relying on a vanguard party to initiate a revolution to organize the nation on fascist principles.[5] Hostile to liberal democracy, socialism, and communism, fascist movements share certain common features, including the veneration of the state, a devotion to a strong leader, and an emphasis on ultranationalism, ethnocentrism, and militarism. Fascism views political violence, war, and imperialism as a means to achieve national rejuvenation[3][6][7][8] and asserts that nations and races deemed superior should attain living space by displacing ones deemed weak or inferior.[9]

The free market/health insurance companies have been deemed weak, and inferior hence the 'need' for Obama care.

Hostile to democracy is exactly what Obama care was passed as.

en.wikipedia.org...

Fascism borrowed theories and terminology from socialism but applied them to what it saw as the more significant conflict between nations and races rather than to class conflict, and focused on ending the divisions between classes within the nation.

Obama has a slightly hipper rap that leads to the same place government with it's foot on our necks ready to snap it at their own volition.

Fascism opposed socialist and communist ideology but was also critical of some aspects of capitalism, arguing for what is sometimes called a Third Position between capitalism and Marxist socialism.

I say the above fits the current administration like a glove.

Forcing people to buy a corporate product is anti social as already stated Obama care was a means to and end to state run healthcare.

Which means everything else is up for grabs, if they dictate one thing they will dictate other corporate products, which he already does:

Healthcare: Check
Homes: Check
Education: Check.

All roads that lead to a totalitarian state, and what many others have been calling the nanny state for the past 5 years.

In this case it's the father state,

I need to wait and see on this. The Health Care debate at least has gotten America to look itself in the mirror and admit to a problem. If not ObamaCare, which I agree is not very effective, then there must be an alternative proposal.

I've always thought the focus should be on culture and not policy, just getting people healthier in general through good habits. Unfortunately, the democrats are great at pointing out problems and not great at solving them. Republicans don't really do any better, if you ask me.

I could easily see the scenario that some have mentioned: the result of Obamacare being essentially a complete government take over of health insurance. Where I disagree is that this would mean a GOP win in '14 and '16...a lot of intellectual liberals will be on board with the socialization trends and the rank and file will be easily convinced that all is going according to plan. I doubt we'll see a major crisis that evaporates public confidence in Obama because they'll just intervene so life goes on as they've done thus far. If rates go up, they'll just hand out vouchers. They don't care about debt when the alternative is severe social challenge.

This stuff all seems to me like stepping stones toward a plan of convincing everyone that health care really should be nationalized. After that, it's exploit the wealth gap and market instability by nationalizing the banks, probably.

A lot of variables, but it seems to me like the trend is things getting a little bit worse but as long as everyone doesn't really know things are getting worse than they aren't- the general philosophy of management right now.

Let me break this down for the poor people in the most simplistic way possible:

A hospital administrator explained how Obama care is going to work for the poor.

So you think you're poor enough to get on that free health care system?

It was tactfully explained to me that, my husband and I would need to make 11k a year in order to qualify for medicaid when the Affordable care act goes into place.

Oh yes. We would need to make 11k A YEAR in order to qualify.

Now, for the working poor; have you taken a look at your pay check lately? Missing some money in taxes? Ah yes. My husband has been missing $58 out of each check now for the past two months. And we were told that we would NOT qualify for medicaid and that we would have to BUY into a plan and if we DON'T we will get FINED by having it deducted out of our income tax refund.

So there you have it. And I got this straight from the billing office at our hospital's administrator.

I'm ill and cannot work. The best I can hope for is to actually get better so I can get back to work soon so we can buy Obama care.

All the people who voted for this man based on the hope for health care are about to find out that they got shafted in a huge way.

I do not know enough about Obamacare. As much as the media makes it seem here, it seems positive, although based on these news I have no idea what to think.

I do not get, why even bother with insurance companies... It just creates more middlemen, who also want to earn their share.

Here things are simple, no health insurance companies like in US. You can get an extra health insurance, which is not directly meant to cover the health bills, but cover the living when ill or the medications.

My employer has to pay an extra 13% on my salary. When I would earn 1000 euros, it would mean my employer has to pay extra 130 euros, so their total expense on me would be 1130 euros. Whenever I am ill, I just go to doctor, have the tests done (whatever test needed) and not pay a dime, although first visit fee to a new doctor (dermatologist for example) is 5 euros, second visit does not cost anything. Everything is government-run, although there are private doctors also. When I need surgery, I do not have to pay for it.

I never have to think about it. Here no taxes have to paid on your own. Everything is paid by the companies, so if your not entrepreneur it is impossible to owe taxes to the country. That is why I do not like insurances, I prefer never having to think about it. In one case, I have to pay the 13% of my salary to insurance company (make the payment on my own), in other case it automatically done by the employer... Easier solution, at least for me.

Okay, first problem is stop listening to the media. They are propaganda agents for the DNC. You need to get your news from new media. Drudge, Breitbart, The Blaze, Mark Levin, Andrew Willow, et cetera. Pretty much look for news agencies that get attacked by the Progressives and the Establishment Republicans equally.

I just got screwed at work, we are a small company and the owner can't afford to cover our health insurance. He said he would pay half of my monthly coverage for just me ($189) or he can pay some ($455) of my family coverage, the part I would have to pay for family is $1350/month. That's one of my pay checks every month and I only get 2, WTF am I supposed to do?

I'm sure there's a lot of false information out there regarding this. From what I understand, these are projections, and the actual rates for the health care exchanges won't even be available until the September / October time frame. My personal opinion of what we have here is a testing of the waters, to see how people respond to these rumors of excessive rate increases. My policy renews in June. I was currently paying a little over $400 a month for a family policy for 4. Not the best policy, but not the worst either. My policy just increased $50 a month for the upcoming year...about a 12% increase. Rates have typically been going up by double-digits for as long as I can remember. Does it suck, yes. Is it a 100 to 400% increase, no. Hopefully I won't be posting next year around this saying I was wrong!

A few opinions of mine:
Young people will end up being impacted the most. They typically are healthy and gamble against having insurance. Now they will have to pay a penalty (sorry a tax).

Poor people will get by and be subsidized by everyone else. Their free goodies almost certainly come in under the threshold for having to pay for coverage.

The entire subsidized exchange system will run huge deficits and have to be bailed out on the tax payers dime, just like the joint car insurance underwriting systems in NJ and several other states years ago.

Some people have commented that this issue will finally open peoples eyes to just how bad the Affordable Care Act really is, but I'm afraid I have to disagree. Unless it personally impacts people in a huge way, they won't care, or if they do, it will be for the short term until some diversion comes along. The fine or rate increases will be just high enough to be a nuisance, but not enough to cause massive protest. We've unfortunately become a nation of whiners and complainers. I really hope that changes.
