I suppose everyone seen in the film is now dead, except perhaps the wee girl, who could still be around aged about 90. As somebody commented it's like watching ghosts.

Thank you so much for sharing - beautiful but it made me feel so sad. The words in the song "Where have all the people gone" come to mind and it forces me to ask the question 'What is it all for?' All those lives, all those dreams - all gone - replaced by another population of dreams and hopes - it surely reinforced my belief that this is just one large classroom!

the 1927 footage is fantastic - i have seen bits before

but the contemporary ` comparison ` scenes - were IMHO quite poor - with very little effort made to atach camera angles and composition

quite lazy really - and detracts from the peice

Thanks for this. I love looking at color vids and old Kodachrome pics from back then. The above footage makes me want to jump into the DeLorean and just take a day in 1920's London walking around. S&F.

Wonderful footage- so atmospheric with the music. Its amazing the difference colour makes. When I see footage from the war or something, in black & white, I dont feel the same connection to the people. In colour however, you really feel the link- its quite melancholy and sad when you see these living, breathing people going about their lives, knowing that they are probably all long dead........

Got to say, London had a lot more character in 1927.
Nice vid though, star for you, very nostalgic.

This completely blows my mind.

I keep thinking, "virtually everyone I'm seeing in these is dead." And then, "And in the future, virtually everyone watching these right now will also be just as dead."

It's as if it's already happened and we're just living to see how.

The history channel provides an excellent series called WW2 in colour, its gobsmacking to see the footage your used to seeing in grainy black and white in vivid colour, some of it is very high quality footage taken by german official war photographers who had access to high quality colour film through the reich. there is also an excellent colour photo collection i DL'ed ages ago off piratebay with thousands of colour pics from circa 1940's
