VIDEO: Stars align in protest against food giant Monsanto over GMO crops

Foes of the conglomerate have produced a video shining light on the supposed dangers of genetically modified crops. Bill Maher, Danny Devito and Dave Matthews have all spoken out against the company's efforts to kill labeling requirements.

The stars seem to be aligning against genetically modified crop pioneer Monsanto.

A video promoting a global “March Against Monsanto” has enlisted the help of celebrities like Bill Maher, Danny DeVito and Dave Matthews to sound the alarm over what those critics say are the potential health dangers of GMO crops.

“Here in America you don’t get the right to know whether you’re eating genetically modified organisms,” Matthews says in the video that uses statements made during California's ballot measure fight to label GMO foods. The repurposed footage is part of a pitch for a global day of protest against Monsanto on May 25.

May 25th - Eat GMO foods.

Got it, written down in my planner.

Whenever you see celebrities getting involved, you know the "anti" side is just all about money.

EDIT: And of course DeVito, Maher and Matthews are against a company that desires perfection with its products. Those 3 will put their name on any smelly turd that can make them money. They know nothing about quality control. Who produces your albums there, Dave? Probably sounds awful without it, like your live show, right?

Worldwide ‘March Against Monsanto’ Protests Planned for May 25th

May 10th, 2013

Monsanto protests scheduled in 36 countries
(AnthonyGucciardi) – Countless individuals will soon assemble in small and large groups around the nation and the globe alike in protest against Monsanto’s genetic manipulation of the food supply. Organized under the May 25th movement known as the ‘March on Monsanto’, the massive new rally reveals how the grassroots public has truly had enough of Monsanto’s monopoly on the many staple crops that have quickly been sucked into Monsanto’s genetically modified tycoon.

I hope they sue Monsanto. Give Monsanto a dose of their own medicine. Suing fertilizer plants. Suing to keep farmers from reusing seeds.

Keeping farmers from using seeds is evil. Greed.

And the courts went along with it!

Good for them. They have a voice, unlike a peon like myself, and they are using it for a darned good cause IMO. With the way we idolize our entertainers in this country maybe someone will listen. Heck, I've been railing against this crap for years but since I'm a nobody, nobody listens. The odds are slim that this will get anything done, but at least they are trying.

'Perfecting it's product"?
Do you really think there's anything good about a company who sues small farmers into bankruptcy, because the wind blew their seed into his field? Who couldn't care less about human health as long as it turns a profit?

BST BST or rBGH marketed by Monsanto as Posilac is a genetically engineered hormone designed to make cows produce more milk. Large amounts of research indicate that BST use has serious implications for the health and welfare of dairy cattle, including making cows more prone to mastitis and sores [41]. Because of evidence that BST milk may cause breast cancer, colon cancer and prostate cancer in humans, it is banned in Europe. Monsanto is trying to overturn the ban [42].

or have no problem killing the environment we all depend on

Contaminating our environment with GM crops The long term effects of Monsanto’s GM crops on the environment are as yet unknown. In areas where RoundUp Ready crops are being grown commercially, herbicide tolerance is being spread to neighbouring crops and wild plants by cross pollination. Rather than reducing the amount of chemicals used in farming RoundUp Ready crops are locking farmers into a chemical dependant farming system [43]. Several scientific studies have suggested that the Bt technology utilised by Monsanto in their Bollgard, YieldGard and NewLeaf insect resistant crops may kill ‘non-pest’ insects such as the Monarch butterfly [44].

But, yeah, they're just perfecting their product for all mankind to enjoy. Just ignore those tumors.

Monsanto can sue all they want. It's up to a judge to make a ruling. Hate the judges, not the company.

Secondly, I don't believe a word of those BS reports about cancer. Every single one has been skewed, poorly controlled, or misinterpreted to the point of scientific worthlessness.

Ever had a banana? Genetically modified. Own a dog that's not a feral wolf? Genetically modified.

Environmental lies + emotional BS = cash grab. See: Carbon tax

it has been decided;
a universal farmer...
one farmer to rule them all...

MONSANTO

... and then we all die slowly... of organ failure or cancer, probably both.

Is that really your argument in favour of GMO crops. You understand that domesticated dogs are burdened by a dumb amount of illnesses and health risks, do you? Not really the best example there buddy

It's great to have popular faces denouncing Mosanto, especially people that are not considered "nut jobs" by the media...well, not for yet.

We deserve the right to at least have GMO's labeled.

If corporations are so afraid of it, then it means they are afraid of the positive sides of capitalism. If they can't supply the demand of GMO free foods then they deserve to go out of business simple as that.

Power to the buyers!

Bankers that we're "bailed out" also deserved to go out of business instead of getting corporate socialism that will be payed by people and small companies actually smart enough to not go bankrupt.

Well and good that the rich should be fighting monsanto, they'll be eating that sh*t too if Monsanto gets their way. I personally do not like the idea of not knowing wether or not I or my wife and daughter are eating pure rat poison. I'm already tempted to start growing my own food using stuff that hasn't been touched by GMO. I can tell you, if bees are dying from the crap theyre modifying, it won't be long till humans are too.
