Though the tests are good measures of skills relevant to success in American society, the scores are only a good indicator of relative intellectual ability for people who have been exposed to equivalent opportunities for developing those skills - and who actually have the motivation to try hard on the test. IQ tests are good measures of innate intelligence--if all other factors are held steady. But if IQ tests are being used to compare individuals of wildly different backgrounds, then the variable of innate intelligence is not being tested in isolation. Instead, the scores will reflect some impossible-to-sort-out combination of ability and differences in opportunities and motivations.

People's United Party, the main opposition party, also condemned the destruction and urged that those responsible be brought to justice.

"The demolition of ancient Maya temples is deplorable, as these are not only important elements of our Belizean history and culture but an integral component of a developing tourism industry," the party said in a statement.

The party said the destruction of the Mayan temple could hurt the area's tourism growth.

wow there is something politically brewing
about this incident. looks like the Peoples
United Party, are calling for a human sacrifice
on the top of what remains of the pile of stones
and caliche.

excavation work is set to begin tomorrow about
150 feet north north west of the pyramid for a grave
for both the excavator operator, construction company
president and others involved in this damage.
execution of guilty parties will occur at sunrise
reminiscent of previous thousands of virgins
offered as appeasement to the gods from this site.

sarcasm intentional.

The Ministry of Tourism and Culture expressed outrage at the demolition of the Nohmul complex in northern Belize to extract crushed rock for a road project. It said it is investigating to determine precisely how it happened.

Its statement called the wrecking of the ceremonial center that dates back at least 2,300 years "callous, ignorant and unforgivable."

Cultural landmarks like Nohmul should be protected at all costs and the "disdain for our laws and policies is incomprehensible," the statement said.

www.fox11online.com...

cultural landmarks "SHOULD BE PROTECTED AT ALL COSTS"

Belize made 468 million income from tourism in any given year.
how much of that money was used to preserve and protect
underdeveloped ruins? NONE.

yet to the talking heads and kool aid pushers the
head of culture said that these sites should be protected at all costs.

yet they spend not one thin copper penny on nohmul?

is that like a DISCREPANCY?

Why are you even debating with this poster? He/she doesn't even know that many of the countries he/she listed "near" Belize are not even on the same land mass as Belize. Some are in South America while Belize is in Central America. lol

Whats wrong Struggler? Does facing the truth hurt

A pejorative[1] (also term of abuse or derogatory term) is a word or grammatical form of expression, that connotes negativity and expresses contempt or distaste. [2]

Name slurs can also involve an insulting or disparaging innuendo,[3] rather than being a direct derogatory remark. In some cases, a person's name can be redefined with an unpleasant or insulting meaning.

You are probably the third or fifth person on here who has
stomped their feet and told me that "I am leaving and not
coming back (because...)...

And then in less than 24 hours,
will reenter the thread and post again.

I call that disingenuity. Deciet.
No integrity. No will to be honest.

I looked up the laws in Belize about ruins.
Posted the link to the laws about ruins.

I do not listen to experts or the news
when looking at a photograph contradicts
what is being said by experts with an agenda.

Sluggish, even the Managing Director of De’ Mar’s Stone Company does not agree with your assessment that all is fine and dandy and it was just a pile of rubble.

I instructed the foreman to immediately cease all operations and to shut down all the equipment including the excavator and trucks. The equipment was removed from the site at around 10:00 am the following day, Saturday, May 11th.

Recognizing that the buck stops at my desk, I share the public’s concern and indeed condemnation at the unfolding of this very unfortunate incident. While I will be launching an internal investigation, I am committed to fully cooperate with the authorities in their investigation into this regrettable incident.”

He is posturing so as to appear contrite.
So as to minimize consequences.

This ruin has been used for roads since 1940.

From your article:

Last week’s excavation and use of material for road works is not the first instance that a mound has been used for such a purpose. As far back as the 1940’s, the mounds at Noh Mul have been used for this purpose. As recent as in June 1998, a similar instance of a mound being torn down for roadworks was detected. At the time, UDP aspirant for Orange Walk North had sounded advice to have the mounds properly demarcated to prevent a reoccurrence. That however, fell on deaf ears and history repeated itself.

just a bunch of sabre rattling by opposing factions
of government and industry to dry the crocodile tears
of bleeding heart mayan sympathizers. Nothing will come of this.

Why are you being so mean to me.

The site has been dug on for the past 70 years.

If it means so much, then why did not any of the
tourist money get diverted to at the minimum,
mark the spot off?

those are the facts.
Everyone is putting their mouth
where there money should be.
